  2. Hi !!
I'm Mathilde and I am also in the class of Guillaume. I also think that English is very important for the future. The problem is that I spent two months in Germany and now I have trouble to think and speak in English. Has anyone ever had the same problem as me and could advise me??
I have a question about the book " Dr Jeckyll and Mr Hyde" : How does Lanyon die ?? Does he commit a suicide ??
And do you think , that Dr Jeckyll can turn into another person or he has just skyzoprenic disorders ?
    Can you comment ??
    Thanks

  3. Hello
My name is Guillaume; I am in the tenth grade, my English teacher is called Ms Ricketts and the English class is divided into 3 groups:
    > the scientific class
    > the economic class
    > and last but not least the literature class literature
We've only 2 hours English classes a week; Most of the students are in the European German class and do German 5 hours a week, even so the student can progress easily in English because our English teacher is very motivated. She makes us read English books( e.g Doctor Jeckyll and Mr Hyde) . At Christmas time the students will exchange little gifts.
I'm very happy to be on in this class which is very active because for me English is very important because I need to speak this language very well if I want to be successful in my future life.

  4. Hi ! How are you Mathilde ?!
I've spent two months in Germany too .
Every time I try to speak in English , I think of German words before saying the English ones : I can advise you .

To answer your questions I read the book again and I've found in the end of the 8th chapter some sentenses explain his shock :
<< I cannot make myself write down the things that Jekyll, with tears in his eyes, confessed to me that night . Now fear and horror are my only companions. Sleep has felt me and I feel that I have not long to live >>

I think that R.L. Stevenson can write very interesting books : indeed in this book we have an opened end :
The end of the story , which doesn't tell us exactly how Dr Jekyll is , makes us think about it !
That's why I've found this book very interesting !

But you may have others meanings , you could write them too , It could be very funny !!!

    Guillaume ._

  5. Do you think Stevenson wanted us to stop and think about our hidden selves?

  6. Hello !! I hope that everybody is fine :) I'm Anastasia and I'm in the same class. Finally I can write something because my PC was broken !
So... Mathilde I have the same problem in English but I think it's pretty normal and I hope that one day we will speak English and German without mixing them ;)
And now a bit about Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. I also didn't really understand how Dr Lanyon died. So Guillaume do you think that he died beacause he couldn't sleep anymore ? ( because he was too frightened ? ) The poor man...
Mathilde I think that in this book Dr Jekyll really can transform into an other person ( he's a scientific man ) but in the reality... if we analyse this character he's maybe a victim of this deasise.
Yes I think that it was the first aim of Stevenson that we think about our hidden selves beacause I think everyone has two personalities and it's very important to find the right middle. And maybe sometimes we don't see or we don't want to see the evil side in us. But if we are lucid , this is the only way to help ourselves.

Can you give me an answer for my first question about the death of Dr Lanyon please ? :)
Thank you and see you tomorrow ;)

  10. Hello =)
I'd like to answer the question which was posted on the 16th October..
I think that scientists HAVE to stop to do this ! Once, I saw something on TV which has upset me... It was animals which were in a laboratory, and people made experiences on them... Those experiences were for example, to open their skull, to burn them, or to dissect them whereas they're alive !!!! That's called vivisection...
And I think this is horrible, and we don't need it to live... we don't need to burn a dog to find new medical thecinics !
People can desagree with me... but that's what I think about this subject ! =(

  12. Bonjour, c'est une classe en France. N'est-ce pas? J'etudie le francais en Jamaique. I was asked to follow this blog for one of my courses, hence my coming accross it. I find it very interesting and think it a good idea to have students from around the world interact with each other. Good luck all, and I hope we can all learn from each other.
    Au revoir...
