For sick children who spend long weeks in a sterile room, the feeling of isolation can be devastating. Recently, there are robots that are used to help find their daily lives. The principe is simple : the young patient runs away from his hospital room, using a computer or a smartphone, a telepresence robot the size of a big child, found home, in the classroom or other place of his daily environment.

ReplyDeleteTo begin with, those robots seems very well-made, in my opinion, because it is a good way, for those children who are all day long in a lonely room, to escape for one day and to meet other people. Indeed, it is important for a child to have pleasure by seeing, for example, a football match in reality and not just on TV. It could be a nice loophole for those boys and girls. Futhermore, they could make or see friends, visit places and travel a bit in their city or even abroad, if the technological aspect can go as far. Moreover, as I see it they could maybe also go to school with this engine and so feel like if their were just like the other pupils.
Then, I think that if I was in this case, I would be so happy to have the possibility to go out and to meet or see others during all days long and to travel around even if I’m stuck in a room. Indeed, as for me, I would be joyful to have a social life and to see how the world around me is evolving.
So, to put it all in a nutshell, I think this new progress is an interesting idea for those children and, in my opinion, this project would deserve to be improved in the years to come.

First of all, being ill at a young age must be awful. Children with diseases sometimes can't go to school or play with their friends.
ReplyDeleteThese robots gave them a way to go out of their room and to build social contacts with the other kids. On the one hand, these robots are a wonderful distraction that is going to hugely improve sick children's lives. However, there will always be a screen between the patient and the "real world" but it gives them at least freedom.
But we also need to take précautions: on the other hand, it might be dangerous. Indeed, the robot is quite massive and it could hurt small kids...
To conclude, this robot is a great improvment in young patients' lives and I think it is soon going to be safe enough for them to use it from a very young age. As far as I am concerned, it makes me enthousiastic!

First of all I think that these robots could be a real revolution for children, who are badly ill or who are physically incapable of visiting places by themselves.
ReplyDeleteSome sick children are seriously handicapped and therefore don’t feel as normal as other other children of their age. Robots could represent a real opportunity for them to see as much as normal children and most of all, to forget their disease for a while.
In my opinion, all children who are ill should have such a robot. Indeed, the treatments they have to suffer can be really heavy and just the illusion that they could be somewhere else can give them happiness and help them to get better.

In my opinion, these robots are good ways to make those sick children fit in society. I'm sure they feel lonely, being isolated all day, and that seeing the outside without any risk would be fantastic for them.

To conclude, even though these children are a minority, it's important to help them and show them that they too belong in society.

It’s not just a simple webcam, thanks to this robot, it’s possible to move and live moments as if you were there ! To begin with, I think these robots can completely change the life of a sick children because he can live a "normal life". As we can see in this picture, there are two robots in a stadium, it is maybe the dream of these two children who is realised. Moreover I heard that without a robot, children would have to enroll in an unfamiliar school district and be tutored by a stranger. To finish, about myself, if I was one of these children I would be very happy to see other things that the hospital.
To conclude, I hope that one day this inovation will be accessible to everybody.

But to the best of my knowledge there is always a other side of the coin like the price of this invention. Or to take an other example children must feel that they are love and as far as I known robots are just artificial-intelligence.

These robots are already awesome for normal people who can't do or go somewhere, but it means a lot for a sick child...
Robots have the power to live them things they would never imagine because of their illness, to make them meet new people, let him know new places and make him live great events like a football match!
This innovation can change the boring daily for a sick child and give him the willingness to fight against his illness to see it all in person!
The only drawback is the time of this child on the screens, which can damage the view or give him headaches: but a smile for this boy a few hours is more important!
I think that instead of this little boy I would be very happy to have my robot,but one day,I do hope they will not need the robot to get out of a hospital room. .....
First of all, i think that this invention is very useful, because if a young kid can't go out with his friends because he is sick, these robots will allow him to spent some time with his friends. Thanks to these robots they will feel less alone which is a great thing for them.

As far as I am concerned , I think that these robots could be great for children who live in a sterile room . In fact , they could have a real life for the first time and create social links between them and other children . On the other hand , that is just a screen and problems could appeared because of the connexion . Moreover , you would be always dependent of technology and people who would bring this robot everywhere .
Nevertheless , if I were a sick child , I guess I would like to try these robots because I would feel alone .
To conclude , I'm not sure these robots work and are adapted but if we never try , we'd never know !

To my opinion, this idea is better than nothing and is not a big changement beacuse there are already camera systems including for exemple internet (Skype, Facetime etc ...) which allows contact between the child and his family, his friends or his class. Add a foot on the screen is so not a difference for the child but only for people who will receive the video. That can maybe give to the child a stronger presence but is not a substitute for the direct contact. Moreover the cost of this not revolutionary invention is very high and every sick child can't have one.

They can meet other people, of course is not like in the real life but it's still a form of contact with the outside. The robot allows the child to be involved in manifestations, shows or something else. In all ways it distracts them. Actually they can meet friends and speak to new persons.

ReplyDeleteI heard about this kind of robots in numerous reports on the television, I found it great because it allows young children being able to move virtually while their health not their allows to go to events for example or even to see friends on a daily basis. The technology plays an important role in the life of these young children and it is a big progress.
If I was in situations of these people I shall be extremely satisfied to have a chance being able to use such a tool. It shall allow me to have better one life and to overcome trials of life with more ease. Finally, this tool allows has these children to keep a minimum of social life, which is very important nowadays.

I can't imagine how hard it is to be sick and not to be able to do what the other kids can do. Someone must be really strong to handle all these things and I find it fair that they can be rewarded for all their efforts. All the sick children should be able to have this robots. As a matter of fact, sick children stuck in a hospital room must feel very lonely, bored and excluded from the society. That's the reason why, as far as I'm concerned, those robots allows them to get put of their room, to socialize with other kids, to attend all kind of events as if they were there. Then, they have the feeling to have a "normal life".
To conclude, if I was one of these sick child, I would be happy to have the opportunity to have one of these robots because it would enable me to have a social life, I hate staying alone, and to see how the world is envolving. In addition, it could even make me forget about my illness.

These robots are a real progress for sick children, who are constantly locked into their hospital room, most of the time alone, without company. These children may feel isolated from their friends and classmates. Through the robot, children can hear their teachers and friends. It is a clever way to keep children recovering from long-term illness connected to their friends and their education. They also can take part in class from wherever they are recovering. At school, the robot becomes the eyes, ears and voice of the child.

Of course, if I found myself in this situation, I would like to have this technology. But, in my opinion, it is very expensive and only very few people can offer themselves this service.
To conclude, these robots are an excellent innovation but it will be necessary to wait several years before their use be accessible to everybody.
First of all being kick at this age must be a flail, they can't play with friends, do some activities... So this robot can give happiness in their life and be like the other children. And thanks to this article, we can see the great technological aspect that exists.
Actually, with the development of this robot, the people who create them had really found a good way to put their service in something useful for sick children.
So, as you understand I really love this idea, because that allows to have a real full life for every child, without feeling lonely because of being isolated from everybody.
But up to a point, this robots cost probably a lot of money, so this can create inequality because not everybody can buy them, unless people offer them one...
Fortunately I have the chance to not be sick, but of course if I was in the place to these children, I would be happy to have the opportunity to have one.
Not to mention that every way is good to improve their daily life of illness.

The children , thanks to these robots children can see other person in another place , they can see them without living their room . It's important for a sick child see another person because have all time difficult journey , the isolation can be devastating for them , but i think these robots are not very numerous and a lot of children doesn't have access to these robots and I hope , in the future , all children must have robots for exit to them isolation . In my opinion these robots help these sick children to get over the lack of society, to continue their studies while being at home or to visit some events on which they cannot go by themselves due to illness. I suppose that in proximate future these robots will be used even by people who want visit some places and at the same time to stay in their favorite sofa.
ReplyDeleteBut at same time we must remember that these robots give us only the illusion of being somewhere, its the same thing as online translation of the lesson or of another event, if i was on the place of these children i would not be happy to have one of these robots because for me to see a picture on a screen its not the same as being on the other side of the screen seeing everything with my own eyes, feeling the reality of the present.
To my opinion, I think robot could help sick children who are not able to go to school for an extended period of time.At first, the children are not losing social context,tries to re-create the school and social environment,they feel isolated. And, the children are more accessible to medical assistance when they have positive experience by beeing in touch with friends, through their own personal avatar (and play like a spy).

Furthermore, it's allows them to change the ideas, to see the fat reality in a robot. I find it very ingenious even if the robot give us just the illusion of being somewhere.

ReplyDeleteI read a lot about it and still shocked. I know that in some countries there is no minimum age for marriage and in other countries, parents decide instead of their daughter. Most of the time it's against money. Their husbands are usually older than the girls at least 15 years. What saddens me most is that in these countries, the girl did not say and it is obliged to follow the orders of his parents. They do not have time to live, to "come into boom". I find this outrageous. these girls leave one prison for another, worse. I find that what these associations is great, I admire them.

I think that this communication system via these robots is a good idea. This can allow these sick children felt a little less alone and not to lose contact with family or friends. Personally I'd be really happy to have the opportunity to benefit from this system. However, the physical presence of the family still miss; but it is a very good start.

Some children are surely happy to have the opportunity to have fun with these robots that must surely have many functions, but it must also be a lot of children who feel alone and that a robot is only a distraction, but will never replace a friend, or a family.
Personally, I think it’s a good idea to have made these robots for kids, and I think that will change their ideas. Still, a robot remains a machine, and couldn’t therefore give affection needed by a child who feels alone.

ReplyDeleteFirst let me say that this idea is very innovative. I find this idea of using a robot like that, for children, shows that technology can be used to do good to others. Obviously I think this action is great because if I was one of those kids I'd be really happy to have one of these robots. Indeed the idea of escape and not stay cloistered in my room would allow myself to pass the time faster. The childrens feel the importance who have their brought them. We care about them and their well being. A child likes to move and discover the life; with these robots they can partially recover these sensations.
I think that these robots have an important role for sick children, because they can fight the isolation of a child who has not lived happiness with friends and family outside the hospital. This allows for example to a sick child to see his star preferred by the robot that allows him to have a smile and a chance too.

It's really a very sad life that I wish it to anyone even for the elderly. this robot is an idea of technological progress that serves to keep the maximun emotion of a child to his greatest emotional needs. This really is a fabulous idea because I think they can not do anything except be a spectator.
