Black Beauty

While reading the book, did you really feel that if horses could talk they would convey what Anna Sewell wrote? Why?

  3. I'm sure they would try but they probably couldn't change anythings. We can see in this book that horses used to be very useful, so I think they would tell us how hard and unfair is a horse's life but anyway, my in mind things couldn't change : few people would do some actions to defend horses (like P.E.T.A do for animals) and that's all.

  4. I don't think that horses could express their feelings as shown Anna Swell. The writter describes animalsconsidering them as humans, for example in the first chapter black beauty's mother gives advices like " I hope you will grow up gentle and good".
I believe that this way Anna Swell is expressing her opinion about the importance of a good behaviour in human life, she is delivering an indirect moral message.I can't imagin,e that Black beauty could recognize his brother. If horses could talk they could have discribed their role in tle world of the 1800. When they were used as working horses. Their lives were not happy but hard due to overwork. Nowadays perhaps, es riding horses they could writte a novel.

  5. I think as Eleonore, that the author describes the feelings of horses as if they were human. But in reality, the horse is a social animal, which always obeys a superior. Even when he lives in the wild without human, he obeys an other dominant horse. So, When a man treats it badly, he does not think "he is nasty" but "I have to obey ".

  6. If horses could talk together, they should talk about their life, and about the past, as wrote Sewell, but maybe not always about humans, like BB did , for example horses couldn't think things like "He's cruel", "he's kind" because humans use them since the ancient Greece so, for wars, for job, or for sport...
If I were a horse, and if I could speak, I would make a revolution , a revolution for freedom because I don't know why are animals used to help the humans, in the medicine for example, or for the war in the past.Humans think they are the most intelligent over the world, they also have to help the others, and not use them, and be cruel with them....

I think Horses are too "humans" in Anna Sewell's book, but If they should't talk about what Sewell wrote, what should they talk about ? Because if they could talk, they should explain all their feelings, and everything in their mind...

  8. What Anna Sewell wrote is good but personaly, I don't think it's realistic. If horses could talk, in my opinion they would have complete other views.

To my mind, they would say they hate humans and everything about them. I'm not the one who would blame them for that. Most of the humans mistreat horses. But anyway, even if they didn't, the biggest problem would still remain. Horses are wild and can't be a slave to us. Sometimes, I'm asking myself, what would I think of humans if I was an horse. My answer is always the same: "Poor horses". That's why I think horses don't like us.

Maybe I'm totally wrong but I really think I'm not. The fact is that in some places all over the world, humans can't live without horses. I wish we could
