What do you think about privacy and private life in a society ruled by social network ?

  1. Hello everyone,

I think that in today's world, combining privacy and social networks is proving to be very difficult. On social networks have spread our lives a lot, some manage to make sense of things but others do not, and this can be dangerous. But besides this fact, social networks can constitute a real door on success and the world of money to who knows how to manage them. It is important to keep a private life, I think it can be a real danger for the less mature people, the most carefree of spreading their life in an excessive way since besides us it can infringe negatively on the people we appreciate.

  2. To begin with, I find that today we no longer really have privacy. Privacy is defined by what concerns us and our family, not what concerns people. However today with social networks young people are exposing their privacy too much. In fact, every time we register on one of these networks all our data is transmitted to the company. So by publishing things on networks, others observe and learn things that can distort to harm us. Many internet users ignore the consequences that what they say can have on social networks. Social networks are a new source of danger, by their very nature and can lead to serious things such as harassment.

  3. Social networks cause a lot of problems for young people during a long time, especially because they are fragile, and they are naive. I think that most of the problems caused by social networks are coming from the fact that many young people believe everything they see without questioning themselves. On social networks, like Instagram, people or “influencers” post photos of them, and want to show the best part of themselves, even though it is untrue. And because of that, it can disturb young people. People show their life, as if they were with their friends, yet they don't know everybody who follow them, and some of their followers, or not, are very malicious and always seek to harm. Moreover, the youth want to look like their idols, and begin to show all their life on social networks, which is really bad for them. In addition, they always want to know more and more about their idols who want to please their fans, and I think that it is very hard for them to hide a part of their life, and keep a private life. That's why, I think that it's very hard if not impossible to have a private life when you are on social networks. On the one hand, I think that the more we are on social media, the more we want to share things with people and show them what we do and therefore it is impossible to keep a private share. On the other hand, I think that it is impossible to have privacy when we are on social networks, because “the Internet knows everything”, and from the moment we are on the internet, all our personal data is exposed, and everyone can have an access to it.

Finally, I think that social networks are very dangerous for us but also for the others.

  4. Hello everyone,
I think that privacy is very important, more so now that social media is such a predominant aspect of our everyday lives. One thing we always have to remember is that once something is on the internet it is there forever, everybody and anybody has access to it. Knowing the fine line between what to post and what not to post is essential to a good usage of social media platforms. That is why there is an age restriction on these sites. Anyone under the age of 13 doesn't have the notion of what is dangerous to post and what isn't. Moreover, having privacy and wanting to keep certain aspects of your life private is healthy ! Today's society makes us believe that we should post everything about ourselves: what we had for breakfast, lunch and dinner, what we are wearing for the day, what time we got home, when we have a bath or when we go to bed... Having to show everything you do is exhausting, especially when you have to pretend everything about yourself is perfect.
In my opinion a lot of social media platforms are crossing the line with privacy. For example, on Snapchat there is a map where you can track where you friends are and know what they are doing which is terrifying ! These new functionalities allowing people to have access to things that we don't always what them to know are, to me, an infringement of privacy.
In conclusion, I want to say that social media is necessarily a bad thing but should be used carefully and with care.

  5. Hello everyone,

Our current world is ruled by social network, which makes it difficult for us to have a private life. However people don't post their hole life on social media, far from it. Social media only portrays the positive side of people's lives. Having the perfect relationship, the perfect hair and clothes, all of it is an illusion. People's life is in reality still private they just portray what they want others to see, people don't portray their bad hair days, their tired looking faces after a long school day. Why? Because our society is pushing us to be perfect. The only problem is that no one is perfect, because perfection is subjective. Everyone doesn't have the same idea of a perfect person. Even reality tv shows don't show everything, because some things are supposedly better kept in the dark. Social media is always a form of pressure on people, to post the perfect picture with the perfect caption. I started having social media quite late, only last year actually, and I suddenly felt the pressure to fit in to a community of people who look and post perfect things. And then I understood that they are all feeling the same way as me, and from that moment I started enjoying posting pictures. We shouldn't worry about what other people think of us, because life is too short to worry about such things.

    Thank you for reading.

  6. Hello,
In my opinion, it is rather difficult to have a total private life in a society governed by social networks because our personal information can be revealed from anywhere and anytime, whether it is through the social networks themselves that take our personal data and share it with their partners or also by bad people with bad intentions.
This can be a problem for our reputation or even for our future employment.
We must therefore be wary and keep certain information absolutely confidential, not disclose too much of our privacy on the internet and not share our information with anyone.
