  1. Today, media is everywhere. Internet, TV, Radio, newspaper are important parts of our lives. Many people can't live without all these tools which give us several information on what's happening all around the world.
People are dependent of media and their activities. For example, there is some applications on mobile phone or on computer which enable a person to know what's happening in the world. It's the proof of the essential place which information has.
However, I think sometimes TV or internet use their functions to emphasize a situation. For example, currently crisis is the most talking subject int he world, journalist love telling us how badly the situation is. A-flue epidemic is another example, media were were very alarmists which frightened everybody.
Besides, the arrival of internet in our way of life changed many things. 20 years ago, it was difficult to know something which happened in Africa and even in other parts of Europe. Today, a click is enough to see what Australians do.
To conclude, I think media play a big role in our lives which is good and bad. That let us know about everything in the world. Still, it can be invasive and media can be worrying.

  2. "gives us so much information"
"dependent on" "there are some applications" "mobile phones or on computers"
"sometimes, I think" "the most talked-about subject in the world" "how bad the situation is" "a flue epidemic" "where very alarming/scare-mongering"
"the media plays" "it lets us know about everything in the world"

    Fantastic answer, Marine!

  3. In everyday life, we invaded by media. Internet, newspaper, television and radio take part of our lives. Because of these media, we don't have enough time to do something else. For example, when we are watching TV, we can't do housework or cooking.
By contrast, radio and newspaper can be useful for various things: know what happened in the world or know what are political projects... So these media are not completely useless. Nevertheless, we don't have to spend all our time on it even if too much people depend on internet and other technology. It is a real issue!
To conclude, I think the media plays too big role in our life but it enrich our general culture and our knowledges if we don't depend on it of course.

  6. A “stereotype” is a generalization about a person or group of persons. So stereotypes are characteristics imposed upon groups of people because of their race, nationality and sexual orientation …We develop stereotypes when we are unable or unwilling to obtain all of the information we would need to make fair judgments about people or situations.

The brains reliance on stereotypes as a "default" condition that requires over-riding, may be a survival calculation. It may be a rapid way of assessing whether a situation is threatening or not, whether a person poses a danger to them. The only problem is that this popular perception is mostly wrong. Our society often innocently creates and perpetuates stereotypes, but these stereotypes often lead to unfair discrimination and persecution when the stereotype is unfavorable.

These generalizations have their roots in experiences we have had ourselves, read about in books and magazines, seen in movies or television, or have had related to us by friends and family. When we judge people and groups based on our prejudices and stereotypes and treat them differently, we are engaging in discrimination, therefore we think things about people that might not be true. So we judge a book by its cover. Because they generalize groups of people in manners that lead to discrimination and ignore the diversity within groups, stereotypes should be avoided.

That’s why it’s important to judge specific individuals rather than the groups of which they’re part. Finally, I would like to say that when stereotypes will be eliminated, it will be easier to acknowledge and appreciate individual differences.
