Are your dreams the same as those of your parents?

  1. Children and their parents belong to different generations.
Every generations have their own issues, their own values, their own revolution. For example, my parents grew up during the 1970's and 1980's. It was a period full of economic prosperity, it's the post-1968 period which changed lots of thing in the society. For example, there were less prohibition about alcohol, cigarette or car security than we have today.Still, women were freer than ever. That is reason for, perhaps, our parents might have more liberty, and were able to have dreams we couldn't have today.
Indeed, the situation is very different for us. We are growing up in a hard economic situation with the crises, many revolutions in Africa, many conflicts between the East and the West. Besides, I have today internet, social networking sites which let us see the world in a different way. We definitely grow up with the technology revolution which brings many changes in the world and the communication between people.
For all these reasons, I think it's complicated to have the same dreams as our parents because our society are various. I have always wanted to travel, to live in another place, to leave France. I don't think it was the same for my parents. However, even if I don't exactly know what I will do later, my father's will to become an architect influences me in divers ways.
To conclude, our parents grew up in different conditions and that made them have other dreams. In my mind, it's surely a good thing for parents have to allow their children to have their own illusions, wishes.
