The Project, called "Mars One" is a new spatial project. I heard people start talking about it recently but what is my opinion? And would I join this project if I had the opportunity? First of all, I know that this project was not about establishing a permanent human settlement on Mars, and of course it would be very difficult (in terms of conditions of life). It should also start in 2026 so that's quite far from now but I imagine that it needs lots of preparation. But I'm wondering: if some crews go on this planet, how will they come back? And will they be able to return on Earth? Moreover, a important question but important: is it habitable? And how will they choose the right people able to go there? What are the criterium for the selection? I don't think they will take everybody, even they said "Everyone can participate in space exploration.", but maybe they don't mean necessarily going on Mars but just be a part of this project. I also heard that the people selected will have a training period and it will be very useful of course. But why not, they will be the first humans on Mars and it should be a great experience, but I don't think I'm "crazy" enough and courageous enough to try this project. Finally, are you interested about going on Mars? And would you do this project?
Mars One is a non-profit organization that has put forward plans to land the first humans on Mars ans establish a permanent human colony there by 2027. There is only one way to this planet and, as Aurore said, people will be trained before coming to Mars. So, what do I think about this project ? If I could, would I be part of this special trip ?
First of all, I think this project is a good one for few reasons. Firstly because people who willl live on Mars can be scientists, so they will make researchs about 'life' on this planet and how to live properly without returning on the Earth. Secondly because it is a great experience for courageous people who are not afraid of staying on a place you don't know at all. Last but not least, this is a good project because in 50 years, the Earth will be full of people, and sending persons on Mars would unclog many countries. Would I go on Mars ? To begin with, I don't think so for two important reasons : we don't know how we will live on this planet ( if we can ) and we can't return on the Earth if we don't like living on Mars. Then, I wouldn't go there beacuse it would mean, for me, bringing with me all the people I like beacuse they would miss me a lot : it would probably be impossible because people are selected and the first humans wouldn't be numerous. Finally, I don't want to participate to this project if I could because humans will ( or would it depends) live inside a big building and will probably not go outside.
To conclude, staying all my life like a prisoner would be horrible for me, I need a lot of 'space' to breathe : to be happy and live a nice, satisfying life. But iff they find a way to have 'space' to breathe, to live with all the persons I love and, of course no problems during the journey, then, I could be the first one to go, I'm not afraid at all !
