the march for our lives

Hundreds of thousands of Americans are expected to turn out for rallies across the country later on Saturday in support of tighter gun control.

Do you think this march will change gun owner's point of view ?

  1. Hello everybody,

To start off, I would like to say that this subject is such an important one that should not be neglected.
Gun violence has been present for a long time and it is quite sad that some people are only realizing it after a school attack.
It means that blood has to be spilt for americans to take action.
This march brought together hundreds of thousands of people all around the country, and I think that the government should finally open it's eyes on guns.
They are dangerous and do no good, americans could consider themselves safer if they feel protected, but also unsafe because anybody could have a gun and could cause damage.

To conclude, guns should not be allowed, they are just one more way to cause violence in a country that already has more than enough of it.
We all hope this march will make a difference but in the end, it's up to the US Government to make the change.

  2. Hi everyone ! How are you ?

To begin with this post, I would like to say that violence is enough spread in whole word to add in with weapons. The USA was shaken by a wave of violence against school organized by young students from the establishment.
The march who took place was to demonstrate against the weapon's selling in the USA and I perfectly understand that. Personally, if I was with them, I would go demonstrate with them because I think we should fight for our conviction.
By the way, a survivor is became the emblem of this movement; the young Emma Gonzalez who challenged Donald Trump. She is so courageous in spite of her young age and she allow herself to say something that nobody wanted to say. She made a speech and she concluded by saying «Fight for your lives, before is begin others's job.»

  3. Hey everyone,

Unfortunately, gun laws remain a big issue in the United States. Indeed, the fact that firearms possession is legal in this country tends towards increasing gun violence as we saw over the past few years.

This Saturday, hundreds of thousands of people decided to protest through social networks and in the streets in order to raise government awareness concerning these laws which aren’t rigorous enough for the public opinion.

From my point of view, the real danger is who holds the gun. In fact, a lot of Americans buy guns to feel safer but in my opinion, a gun can become dangerous when impulsive people own it. For example, the shooting act in Las Vegas in 2017 shows that legal weapon possession goes against people’s security and we can add that gun laws didn’t helped preventing this attack.

Finally, I’m convinced that Trump government should reinforce these laws even if it creates debate in the United States, because this constitutes a break to intern security. Moreover, in Europe for example, gun possession is prohibited for most of citizens and we manage to live in “security” thanks to our armed forces.

  4. Hi! We know that with firearm we can deal more damage than with cold weapon and any others. But people who buy the guns in the USA do it only to have fun and a normal person will never have idea to take his gun and kill people. So persons who do this thing are psychopaths. Maybe if the state forbid guns the situation will improve but if we look at France for example, where guns are forbidden, psychopaths who want kill people can do it with no problem because they can have guns on the black market.
Personally I think the state should improve civilian protection by trying to defeat terrorism with different ways.

  5. Hello, in my last post I made some mistakes: «violence is wide-spread»; « The march which took place»; « if I were with them»; « I would go and demonstrate»; «convictions»; « a survivor has become»; « she allows»; « before starts to be someone else's job»
    Thank You

  6. Hi everyone,

The President of the United States supports the use of weapons, in part because his campaign was paid by the National Rifle Association, which promotes the use of weapons for every American citizen, in agreement with the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution.

Because of that, hundreds of thousands of people demonstrated on the streets of Washington DC, New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle, etc. There was more than 800 demonstrations in all the country. The NRA and politicians were the target of protesters. Those ones are especially students and teachers who are afraid to go to school because they might be the next to be killed, and parents or grand-parents who are feightened to let their children go to school.
After the massacre in Marjorie Douglas Stoneman High School in Parkland, Florida, that killed 17 people, shooting survivors created the movement « March for our lives ». They demonstrated in Washington DC and made speeches. Singers performed between speeches, like Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato and other artists like Jimmy Fallon, Julian Moore, Paul McCartney, Kim Kardashian and Kayne West, Noah Cyrus… were there. Martin Luther King Jr.’s granddaughter, Yolanda Renee King, said « I have a dream that enough is enough », during her speech, reflecting to her grandfather. One of the most powerful speeches during the march was Emma Gonzalez’s. She said that since she came on the stage, the shooter in the school had the same time to kill 17 people : 6 minutes and 20 seconds.

I think that laws about weapons won’t be changed for now, because the lobbying is too powerful, but to my mind, history showed that America can change, like Barack Obama said once, and that when you fight for something that’s worth it, no matter how much time it takes, you have it and you obtain justice.

  7. Hello !

    - So many people die annually from gunfire in the US that the death toll between 1968 and 2011 eclipses all wars ever fought by the country. I heard on TV that there were 372 mass shootings in USA in 2016, killing 475 people, so that, it is very dangerous.

    - Last week a “March for our lives” take place all around the United States, especially in Washington. March for Our Lives is the culmination of a monthlong effort to honour the 17 students and faculty members killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. With momentum from the National School Walkout still going strong, students are demanding that their voices be heard. It was a demonstration created and organized by #NeverAgain, a group of students who survived at this attack.
    - As for me I don't really think that this march will change gun owner's point of view because these kind of people never realised how it can be dangerous to have a weapon at home for example.
    - Moreover, the real problem is Trump's government because they want to heard anything about that because they are lobbied.

    - Finally, I hope this situation will change rapidly because it is unacceptable to have all these attacks just because of gun's problem.

  8. Hello everybody!
I think this march against guns in the United States is a good idea because it will allow people who take up arms as toys to be sensitized by the atrocities that weapons have and can still cause if they are not. not regulated. We are hearing more and more tragic events from the United States because of gun killings. I think the United States should ban the possession of weapons or pass proxy tests.

  9. Hello everybody!
On the one hand, we hear every week that a killing in an american school happened. I still don't understand why the government doesn't take action to stop that. For me, to teach students how to react in front of a shooter, or in case of a situation like this is not a solution. It's only after the last shooting in Florida, that the medias, and all the world started becoming aware of this cause.
On the other hand, I think that this march in all the USA, is a good idea and a good way, to first, tribute for the victims, and then to show the american population's position on this.
Moreover, the fact that a lot of celebrities, and hundreds of thousands of people are demonstrating, highlights the importance of this cause.

To conclude, for me, the government has to take action to stop this scourge touching essentially the USA, which made more than 80 victims only for the beginning of 2018.

  10. Hello!

Personally I think that this march will not change the owner's point of view for different reasons.
First of all, I think that there are too many weapons in USA to change the situation in one day. There are about 350 millions weapons in the USA which is more than a weapon per inhabitant !
Secondly, a survey publicized in 2010 shows that the Americans don't want a more restrictive weapons conreol : only 44 percents of Americans want to set up more control, which is not the majority. Of course people from big cities are generally less gun-friendly, but most of people from rural states and small towns have more aggressive and extremist point of views.
To finish, I would like to underline that there are a lot of groups and lobbies financed by gun's manufacturers that are definitely against any decision from either the president or the congress, that could add some control on weapon's sales. Especially, the National Rifle Association is extremely powerful, and can put pressure on politics and journalists.
I think that this fight is useful but today, the chance to change thing is still very poor.

  11. Hello everyone,
I think this march against the guns in the United States is a good idea because this march will make react the people possessing weapons as if it were simple toys. This march will reflect on the atrocities that weapons can cause and also on the regulations of weapons. There are more and more setlements in the United States because of the freedom to buy weapons. I think the United States should further regulate the purchase of weapons in order to reduce the number of tragic events taht is growing in our day...

  12. I think this march will not change gun owner's point of view. First, the violence is already present all over the world then by adding weapons we are only worsening things. We are already sad has to check violence and weapons without they are legal all over the world. The United States decided to legalize the detention and the use of firearm as Germany, Spain, Great Britain and Switzerland. I am not agree with them. Indeed, weapons are dangerous and if they are in the wrong hands they can turned out murderous as we were able to see it in shootings in schools.

To conclude, in my opinion weapons should not be authorized.

  13. Hello
First of all I would like to say that these children and teenagers had a great courage to make a march against fire arms because few people have the courage to do that.
Secondly, this march could make the gun owners change their minds, but that's not because, in America, the arms are equal for years and making change would be a little difficult. The violence in America has been there for a long time and thanks to this march people could understand that violence and guns are not the answer.
Finally, all people should fight for this kind of event because it is very improtant to secure humanity.

I made some mistake again : is " In America, weapons are legal and have been for years, changing that would be difficult" not "in America, the arms are equal for years and making change would be a little difficult" and finally is "Violence" not " The violence".

  14. Hello everyone,
In beggining, I would like to say that everybody are different. We can't affirm that everyone will understand and will "throw" their fire arms.
Indeed, America authorized for centuries the carrying of defense weapons, but people still exaggerate and become foolish and insensate. That's why we can see all these horrible shootings and attacks.
However, all we can do thank to this march is praying that most of gun owners will finally understand that weapons solve nothing and make things worse.

  15. Hi everyone,

First and foremost a gun owners viewpoint on gun violence and laws regarding it are already set and been for years, meaning guns have now become almost like a tradition weaved into American society where nearly every American household posses at least one gun. Rallies have been organised and Americans have been protesting for years in the past and the numbers of gun owners has not decrease, therefore it is unlikely that this protest will change their viewpoints now.
However, gun violence has turned into school shootings where young students have lost their lives and gun violence no longer solely affects drug dealers in conflicts but also innocent teenagers. Perhaps because of this gun owners may now start to realise to what extent gun violence is dangerous now, that teens in high school are involved and become more aware of why America needs tighter gun laws.

  16. Hi everybody,
First of all, I think that making a march is the best way to express his mind and his thoughts, because the USA, as France, is democratic and it means that people have the liberty of expression, the people has the power. It's certainly the good way to make a change from the government.
Secondly, I would say that I do agree with the fact that controling guns could save lives, indeed in the USA a lot of person have guns and many without the port of arms license, and even if the majority just wants to be safe it's dangerous!
Finally, I hope that this march will bring a change and that the government will be more concerned by the people's wills, especially with this kind of important case.

  17. Hi everybody !

To my mind, this « march for our lives » against guns in the U.S. is a good idea because it will make people aware that possessing a weapon at home may be a source of problem. Indeed, the recent shooting in the high school in Florida that killed 17 people underlined the danger of having a gun. Then, the legislation of possessing a firearm in this country tends to increase gun violence.
As far as I am concerned, I don’t think this march will change gun owner’s point of view because American people buy guns to feel safer and they think they would use it properly. Though, when impulsive people own one, it endangers people’s security.
Nevertheless, according to me, the fact that possessing a weapon is legal may also make American citizens feel unsafe because anybody could have a gun and could cause damages.
To conclude, I’m convinced that the U.S. government must change this law and this kind of march should continue in order to put pressure and force Trump to act.

  18. Hello everyone,

Hundreds of thousands came in from around the country to march in Washington, DC. They chanted and cheered as speakers mainly students and teenagers appeared on stage to call for gun control measures. They put a spotlight not just on mass shootings, but also more common types of gun violence.
Unfortunately, it won't affect the point of view of gun owners because some use gun for security and in the United States we could feel the insecure. Also, most people who own guns do so to hunt. So everybody have different point of view on this subject, and I think will be debating on this subject for a long time ...

  19. Firstly I would like to say that our point of view, will never be similar to that of another person, we are any various, we have no same values or principles. We are unique (only) and master (teacher) of ourselves. Therefore, unfortunately this march can never make converge our notices on the carrying of weapons. In the United States, many people do not feel safe, nor to protect by the American government, so they prefer to defend themselves by their own ways, that they is dangerous or not. This way it’s weapons, They thinks the violence is much more effective than institutions bet ready by the state to make the order reign and peace. Here is one of the causes of it: the feeling of Insecurity. Do you find that normal that people do not feel protecting in their own country? You want my opinion? Well I think that in 2018 this kind of feeling is inconceivable. It is thus essential to find solutions
