Emma and John are two students from Boston. They are having a discussion in a café about moving back to their parents’ home after they finish university. This conversation takes place before Christmas holidays. “Emma where are you going during these holidays?” asked John curious. “I have a plain tomorrow and I am going to Paris at my parents’ home to see all my family, Christmas stuffs you know.” She said a little annoyed. “Oh really? Me too! I know what you mean but I get along well with my family, so I am glad to see them, I always have fun there.” He answered. “To be clear, it doesn’t give me the desire to return to live in this place. When I finished High school, I was very happy to leave my family and especially Paris. Besides, living with my parents at the age of twenty-five is a little exaggerated. I am going to get into the habits that my parents are going to do everything instead of me and I don’t like that. I am not going to be independent, and first and foremost, I am going to support them every day.” She confessed bored. “I think you’re worried for nothing, I disagree with you. If it was me, I think I will be happy to live with my parents. If you feel bad, you are not alone, they are there to support you. I don’t think you will be dependent on your parents: they are just there to help you if you need it. Furthermore, they support you financially: they cook for you, you don’t have to pay a rent. It’s beautiful!” replied John confident. “You forgot a point: the difference between you and me is that you are in good terms with your family and me not. However it motivates me for one thing: get a job. If I get a job, I have a pay and so I can lend or buy an apartment for me: the dream! Living with my parents, it’s over!” Emma said enthusiastic. In conclusion, they return to their parents’ home for holidays and the next year Emma lived for one month with her parents and finally find a job and an apartment. (396 words) Cassandre M. TS5
Hello ! Here's the conversation of the two students : In France, more exactly in Paris, Marc and Maëva are in a restaurant, discussing about moving back to their parents' home after they finish university. « So, will you go to live with your parents, Maëva ? » said Marc. « Hum... yeah, I guess, and you ? » asked Maëva. « I don't want to. » answered Marc, « I want to be independent, I can't stay forever under their care, don't you think so ? ». « Yeah, I agree with you, but don't you think, they will be happy to have you with them a little longer ? » replied Maëva. « Oh ! I didn't see it in this way ! But, I don't want to be a bother for them. They have to take more care of them, they aren't this young anymore. And my sister is already living there. » told Marc. « I see... Where are you going to live then ? » asked Maëva. « Oh ! It's not a problem, I'd like to live in colocation with my best friend ! He already has an apartment here, so I think it would be easier for me to live in a city that I already know for a long time ! Don't you think so ? » said Marc. « Seems great, maybe I should do the same... In fact, it will depends of a lot of things. I will ask my parents about that. But are you sure that it wouldn't be a problem to live with your best friend ? Your relation could change. » declared Maëva. « Don't worry about that, my friend is very very manical, and I hate the dust. So it would be fine ! And his apartment is very big, we won't encroach the living spage of each other, so it's totally okay ! » answered Marc. In the end, it's Maëva who leaves in order to live alone, and Marc still lives with his parents, by their request. Jeanne L.D. TS3
