Shawn Campbell: I'm 17 , it's my last year at the high school!

Penny Mortimer:Aha,Shawn you are far away from home. What are you doing here?

Shawn Campbell:I'm here to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the battle I'm proud to be Canadian, our soldiers were here 100 years earlier and won this battle!

Penny Mortimer:It's so patriotic! What kind of emotions are you feeling when you see the Canadian National Vimy Memorial?

Shawn Campbell:I'm thankfull, very thankfull. These mens not just won this battle and humiliated the enemy they also brought peace and freedom. They stood for that!

Penny Mortimer:Shawn for you , what were best qualities of Canada in 1917 after the victory?

Shawn Campbell:For me, Canada represented gumption, enthusiasm, solidarity and sympathy.

Penny Mortimer:Do you think the attitude of the Canadian Corps in 1917 represents Canada now in 2017?

    Shawn Campbell:Hum…I’m embarrassed.

    Penny Mortimer:Why?

Shawn Campbell: It’s not very patriotic, but I think that in 1917 the individual initiative and esprit de corps were more present then now in 2017.We live in an electronic society, smartphones and computers are more important then solidarity and gumption.

Penny Mortimer: You right, it’s a very lucid point of view..
What will be your last words?

Shawn Campbell:It's a citation of David Johnston: "They stand for justice and hope ».

Penny Mortimer:Shawn excuse me,I have a last personal question.
If you were here 100 years earlier what would you do?

Shawn Campbell: I would fight with the Canadian Corps against the enemy!

Penny Mortimer:You are a very brave man Shawn.
I’m Penny Mortimer and we cancelled this BBC interview.

      - Do you feel
      -When you saw
      -thankful
      -these men
-How would you describe Canada in 1917 after the victory?
