No, I don’t learn a language on my own but I would like to learn my natives languages : Corsica and Italian languages. Indeed, a part of my mother’s family is Corse and the other one is Italian. Thanks to this, I will be able to speak with my family in their own languages. Moreover, when I hear my grandmother, for example, speaking with my aunt and my uncle in Corsica language, I would like understand what they say to be able to speak with us. This language isn’t the most important for me because this part of my family also speak French. On the contrary, my Italian’s family doesn’t speak French so, I can’t speak with us. I think it’s sad because I don’t have the possibility to contact and know them.
Hello everyone, I'm not currently learning any new languages at home but I am considering learning Russian to surprise my best friend who speaks Russian. She has already taught me how to count up to 10 and how to write certain names and sounds. I think it's an interesting language because they use a different alphabet and certain sounds are spelled differently. I would also like to learn Gaelic to surprise my grandparents when I can visit them in Ireland. When I was younger, I used to try and guess the pronunciation of the road signs that were in Gaelic, so I think it would make my grandparents happy if I were actually able to pronounce them. I hope everyone is staying safe and well during this confinement. Thank you for reading Hannah SWAN [TS5]
In my family we only speak French. But if I have to learn another language, it would be Spanish fluently because it is a very useful language we can speak usually when we travel in everyday life. Indeed, Spanish is spoken in many countries such as South America for example. I find it’s a beautiful language and not very complicated because it is a little bit similar to Italian, which is my second language. Then, I would like to learn Mandarin, it is a language witch is more and more used in the economic middle. But it’s very difficult language.
Actually, I can speak three languages. I have learning German and English since six years at school. But I also read books and watch series in these languages. I really enjoy speaking and sharing with others in different languages indeed it is an interesting way to learn about other cultures and ways of life. I am in the AbiBac class which means that I have ten hours German class per week. To my mind, learning other languages allows us to discover new details and information about literature, ways of thinking and history that we couldn’t know if we only have learned our native language. For my future studies I want to be in an European class and I’ll need to speak German and English very well. Also I want to learn more languages such as Spanish and Italian indeed in my opinion it is a real personal fulfilment to be able to communicate with everyone from different countries. Finally I learn by myself sign language because it is important to me to understand deaf and dumb person.
No, I don’t learn languages on my own except English and German which I practice in high school. In my family we all speak French between us. However, when I have the opportunity to watch movies or series I try to put them in English to improve my accent. When I was younger with my mother, I started to learn a little Russian because it’s a language that interests me a lot but it's very difficult. However, my parents speak fluent Spanish, which is why I would love to learn this language because it’s simple. DUCROQUET Margaux TS4
I don’t learn a language on my own but I would like to learn spanish because it is a language which is spoken in more than 15 countries. I would also like to improve my English since it is a language that allows you to communicate around the world, it is the most spoken language. I would like to travel later and I know that it will be essential for me, especially for my work.
Hello, I think it is very hard and fastidious to learn absolutely everything about a language that is why I consider that i am still learning English, Spanish and even French although it is my native language. I love to learn everyday a thing or two about English and i hope that i will be able to speak fluently in a few years! On top of that, i would love to learn either a Scandinavian language such as Swedish or Korean. Unfortunately both of these languages are quite complicated so i will have to choose one to learn first! I'm leaning towards Korean. What i also like about learning a new language is that you learn at the same time about the culture and the history of the country(ies) where the language is spoken. Have a great day Clementine L Ts2
Hello, For a long time, learning languages has been one of my biggest interest, that's how I got into studying English on my own. Of course, I'm far from being fluent, but I still feel a - somewhat- excitement when I learn new words and phrases. As a matter of fact, being polyglote is a goal of mine. Indeed it means that you're able to connect with the world and its diversity of cultures; it allows us to understand the lyrics of our favourites songs or have access to foreign sources, thus it's rewarding.
For all of these reasons, learning languages remains an important matter to me. That for, since there's no lack of ressources nowadays, I decided to learn Korean. I know that it's very ambitious and I should probably improve my Spanish first, but I'm currently seduced by the culture and language, so why not give it a try ? It's pretty complicated since the alphabet is brand-new, and the grammar rules are completely different from ours, but my ear has grown more and more accustomed to some words, so I'm enthusiastic.
I am not learning any language on my own, because I think it must be very difficult (if not impossible) to do so. Indeed, a language's goal is to enable us to communicate with people, thus it may not be very effective to try to learn a language on your own. Moreover, I believe that most people who learn new languages on their own do it thanks to softwares that cannot be as effective as having a real teacher or living in the country whose language you want to learn. These softwares might teach you how to count or a few basic words and expressions, but I don't think they can make anyone become completely fluent in a given language. And that's even truer when the language is very different from your own language, for instance if there is a different alphabet. For all theses reasons, I don't consider learning any language by myself, but I would really like to learn other languages with real teachers !
I have never tried to learn a language on my own mainly due to a lack of free time, however I find the idea very interesting. Indeed, if I had to learn a language by myself I would focus on a language that is not widely spoken in France and that we do not find in the neighbouring Latin countries. For instance Japanese seems to me exciting especially as I am used to watching Japanese animations. This language is all the more interesting for me since I would like to make a trip to Japan in the next few years. Starting to learn this language would allow me to go alone to Japan, without any problem related to the language barrier. I would also like to learn Corsican because many members of my mother's family speak this language. Corsican is little spoken in France, which makes it even more unique and beautiful. Thank you for reading
No I don't learn a language by myself but I would really like it. I would like to improve my level in the languages I am currently studying before I start learning another one. I would love to learn Vietnamese because it would allow me to speak with some members of my family who only speak this language. On top of that speaking the language of the country of origin of my grandparents would mean a lot to me. Amélie TS2
I am currently not learning any new languages but I would love to try learning Japanese, even if it is a really complicated language. The fact that they use what they call « hiragana » and « katanas » to write makes it even more interesting. And it would be a great challenge. Then another language that I would love to master is German. I am learning it in school but I am not really good at it, so I would be really proud to be able to show my best friend, who is German, that I am capable of speaking it. And finally, I wish to speak English fluently. It is a great way to be able to communicate with almost anyone in the world since it is an international language.
Hi everybody! I regret that I’m not learning a language on my own, because in my opinion it’s important to know a lot of different languages. I already learn English and Spanish at school, so maybe I would like to learn Italian, because it’s not really that different of Spanish, and I really love the Italian accent. It’s a very beautiful and musical language. But, I also would like to learn a completely different language, of a country with very different customs and traditions , like Icelandic. Furthermore, it’s a country that I really want to visit. Thaïs GENOUX TS4
Hello, no I do not learn a language of myself but I would have liked to learn Spanish because I find that it is a very beautiful language and that it is used enough in the world as in South America. Apart from that, my primary goal is to improve and perfect my English because it is really the basis and for me it is very important that it is for series/films, work, travel etc
Hello, no I'm not learning any language on my own because I already tried with Italian and honestly it didn't work out so well. I think if you really want to learn a new language, one day or another, you are going to need a teacher to explain you something you won't find the answer about on the internet or in books. I guess if I had the motivation to do it would learn Russian, Bulgarian, Italian, and even Spanish, I know it's weird wanting to speak Russian or Bulgarian but I actually like those languages and I even learned a couple expressions from the both of them. I would love to be able to speak that much languages, but my mother wanted me to learn German and I didn't really have a choice so I took the option at school and it turned out I had really bad teachers from 6th grade to 9th grade so when I arrived in high school I was really struggling in German, truth be told I am still... But anyway, I admire people that can speak more than 3 languages because it's tough and you have to be determined and hardworking.
I'm learning Russian and sign language at home, and I hope that I will then be able to learn several languages, like German or Norwegian, because it's important for me to be able to speak several languages and then to be able to speak properly with everyone on this earth, even with deaf or dumb people, and travel to the four corners of the planet. I think it's a bit difficult to learn a language for yourself because you have to be able to manage and it's not easy for everybody. But some people are self-taught, which means that they learn everything by themselves, without a teacher. And in any case, with motivation, everything is possible, right ?
I already spoke 4 languages ( French, Russian, English and German (+ my native language)) but I really really want to speak Arabic. For that I started to learn some world and sentences but alone I think it's more harder than with a teacher. Moreover if I could learn another language it will be Spanish.
