  1. Hello!
I want to give my opinion on this subject because it is really happening today.
I'm not a teacher but I can imagine that this video is genuinely hard to watch, so many parents get defensive over their children and at the end the teacher become the "bad guy" for doing his job. This in not fair. So I would mention that personally this film is not a kind of joke or something.. It's a warning.
    Thank you!

  2. Hello,
This film is pointing to the US educational system. Indeed, it denounces the closed-mindedness of teachers in relation to mathematics. It also denounces the overreaction of parents who want to prove their children right.

  3. The video shows what happens in a society where opinions matter more than facts. Through the medium of maths, which is essentially based on facts and logic, the video showcases people thinking that their answer is right and that the teacher, who is the victim in this video, is wrong. What's scary is that this video accurately reflects the current state of the USA. People are more influenced by their personal beliefs and by the media, and end up believing in something completely false. Take for instance the anti-vaxxers which have risen over the past few years. They strongly believe that vaccines cause more harm than good, despite the existence of scientific evidence that they do not. This has led to people not vaccinating their children, which has caused many deaths and the resurgence of formerly eradicated diseases such as measles.

  4. This video presents a very frustrating situation for the main character. Indeed, this teacher was right all along about adding two and two, when one of her student was wrong, and got upset because of it. But the case didn't stop there, and took a disproportionate turn, as in the end, all the TV media knew about it and supported the more "open" perspective, and put forward false arguments. I have experienced such situations myself and I can tell you that it drives you crazy and makes you want to punch everybody in the face until they don't argue anymore....but I guess a less violent option would be possible too. Fortunately, money makes everyone agree, as in the very end, using the "open minded" math method compels the provisor to pay a big amount of money to the teacher (twenty two thousand dollars) instead of only four thousand dollars.

  5. Throughout the video I was surprised and increasingly disconcerted by the absurdity of the situations. School has become a place where knowledge can be discussed, where science can be contested, a place where the frustration of the student can take on unexpected proportions, where the parents of the students no longer hesitate to challenge the legitimacy of the teacher. I think this film is a caricature of what is called "Trump's America" because he was a president who did not hesitate to throw out scientifically untenable untruths, or celebrities claim that the Earth is flat. This protest against everything is gaining more and more followers around the world. I find this extremely serious because if we constantly doubt the basic principles and general truths, nothing will make sense and we will surely see the fall of civilisation as we know it.
