When famous people such as actors, athletes and rock stars give their opinions, many people listen to them. Do you think we should pay attention to these opinions?
I think that it can be interesting to listen to them because, either we have the same opinion,so we agree with them and see what they are going to do to help the people or country(ies) concerned and try to help too,or we don't agree but we can listen to their point of view,and open our mind to other things,be able to listen to others,even if we don't think the same...so it is interesting because every point of view is important,even if it's not our... marine 1ereES2
I agree with marine . Every point of view is interressant because they allow us to build up to themselves an opinion. It's difficult to say if the star in question is really invested in her fight or if it's just for the money but her point of view can serve always after all we are free to have thoughts or different words...no ?
I think that we shouldn't pay attention to their opinions , because 99% stars are richer than us, so they are living in an uncomparive world. Moreover and on my opinion, important and very import persons always says what we are wanting to heard ! We aren't going to get friends in saying people bad things, and we are living in Democratie, so a lot of things are needed from the people, and it's quite easier to do something when we have some people who are agreeing with what we say .
I totally agree with baba, We don't live in the same world than them. And actors and singers aren't famous thanks to their remarkable thoughts and spirits, most of them aren't even artists, they're nothing but ordinary people that have once made some thing special, like playing in a movie or...be rich and having sex with anyone WI don't understand why some people would pay attention to what they say, I think it s useless and stupid, some times it's just funny because it's too stupid, but that's all.

I think that we can of course listen to these opinions but we have to be careful and not to naïve. These famous ( and often extremly rich ) people live in fact, as it said guillaume, in an other world ... so they don't think like us. But there's a difference between opinions from a pop star and a famous philosoph or writer, or a scientist ... in my opinion it could be more interessting . But we also have to be careful, cause they can tell things to make a publicity for a book etc ... At the right time ! Yesteday we have spoken about the role of publicities... Cause we were wondering, if it influences us or not and how important they are in our world. We have read a text about it and here is my little analyse :
Everyday, everywhere and all the time, we can see advertisements today ! But are they everlasting or only shortlived ? Do they give us many propositions or a single one ? With the help of the text "Ways of selling" from John Berger we'll try to answer some of these questions. According to the author " the publicity image belongs to the moment" because whether we are in a car, whether we are at a bus station, whether we're reading a magazine... we encounter non-stop publicity images . In fact, even when we're watching a TV programme, since these are always full of commercial advertisements, we are also compelled to watch publicities whether we like it or not. In fact, it's a kind of "brain washing" very difficult to resist. In the second paragraph the author tells us that publicity only offers people a choice between many identical products : this or that makes up for the face, this or that vehicule ...He also alledges that the aim of publicity is to make us buy something new by false pretence i.e. making us believe that the new products will transform our lives in making it richer and making us feeling good in comparaison to others, who don't have these "marvelous" new products. In a nutschell for J.B. publicity is a "process of manufacturing glamour".
In my opinion it's true that oft advertisements tempt us to buy things we don't really need but I think that in some cases it plays a usefull role in that it makes us ware of new medecine, new technology that we might have never heard of before.
What do you think about it ? Are you for or against this very present publicity in society ?
Nowadays there is a spectacular increase of advertising with famous people . They are involved in many causes such as AIDS , environment, disease ... Although they are rich and despite the fact that may be they are not concerned , they find time to do these ads end it seem that they feel more concerned . But are their feelings sincere ? Should we pay attention to these opinion ?
First , people could think that if famous and so rich people find time to do advertising for some association it's because this association is important . And it' s often a huge cause that they defend . So , many associations engage famous people to share their opinion . They know If they associate a huge cause with stars they will have a big impact on people . And a lot of people pay attention to famous people . An other way which engage famous people is in politics . During the presidential election in USA we have seen many famous people who have tried to convince people to vote for their candidate . For example many stars have wore tee-shirt " For obama " . They use their positions to influence and convince other people .
However we can't deny that they are paid to do this . And even if they defend serious causes it seems that they do all these things for their own benefit . And to my mind it's not because they are famous that theu are right . It's stupid to think that . People must be careful . People must have their own opinion on a subject and after can decide to follow some people and not the contrary .
After weighting up the pros and cons of this argue it's clear that it is interesting to engage famous people to share an opinion as much for associations as for politics . But it is not because they are famous that they are right.

The opinion of a star is not always sincere, they often have agents who are telling them what they have to say or to do, to create "buzz". So in my opinion, we can listen to the other ones, but only to make our own idea about something.
An influential person can use its influence to share positives message about the self love, to fight some discrimination/homophobia/sexism/misogyny (and more) or encourage some people to take part in important events like the fight against AIDS or breast cancer, etc. But they can also influence us negatively and make us do bad things, like dangerous challenges or making propaganda for bad ideas. However, it is important to use one's critical mind so as not to be influenced by the wrong things.
