Before the technical progress, youngsters used books,magazines,manuals to enrich their culture or to do their homework that teachers gave them. But now the creation of internet and television helps youngsters to access information faster than opening a book and read it. Are youngsters reading less now with the easy access to internet and television? What can be done to encourage reading?
Nowadays,more and more youngsters read less because they used more and more internet and television to avoid reading and open books. Indeed,internet allows youngsters to find a summary of their books and as a result they know the history before or without even reading the book. What's more many people who studied the book,put in the internet the work which did in class like a full commentary on the text or a dissertation of a subject about the book and when teachers ask the students to read the book in order to do a dissertation on it, the students don't need to read the book to do the dissertation and go directly online. Moreover,television also contributes to the decline of the reading because there is the film adaptation of many famous novel. Indeed,the film adaptation can make the history interesting thanks to special effects. There is the voices of characters, the music, the noises and movements. The youngsters prefer to watch the film than to read because a film lasts two hours whereas read a book can last three weeks. The time it's very important in the life of youngsters. However some youngsters prefer read than to watch television because either it's a hobby or they don't like the film adaptation because they like to create themselves their characters as they wish. Currently there is many application to encourage youngsters to read like E-BOOK(book online) in the iphone, ipad and computers and so allow youngsters to read wherever.
Finally,we can say that youngsters are reading less now with the easy access to internet and television because it's very faster than to read, but some people prefer read than to watch television for many reasons. Moreover many people try to find solution to encourage youngsters to read .

Personally, I think that the problem of the fact that the youngsters are reading less an less comes directly of the education of the parents. As the childrens are really young, the parents have to educate them as if internet and video games did not exist and teach them to get a lot of interests in life. Childrens have to start reading younger, and then they will get used to read. For example, two weeks ago, I saw a baby next to me in the bus who was maybe two or three years old and he was watching a cartoon. I thought that he was going to be one of the persons who are reading less and less because of the Internet and the technology in general.
