Politicians

Do you think that politicians can be trusted?

  1. Hello,
I’m not split about this subject for several reasons.
In France, today we are in a democracy and we have the chance to choose who we want to see in the government. Politicians who run, aim to be elected, to do that, they must embody what people want to see. So they always make promises they will never keep.
If we think logically, being elected means having the majority of votes. But each person who votes has different beliefs and convictions, it means that politicians have to play on different boards rather than think truthfully and satisfy 100% of activists.
What I understand is that it is difficult to gather a lot of people, but I do not think that you inevitably have to lie to satisfy everybody. Because, and we have to underline that, at a certain moment it was the politicians who wanted someone in the government who would convey their ideas as any politician should.
Furthermore, if a politician didn’t lie just by that he/she would acquire trust of voters.
On the one hand, they have this role to help us but on the other hand, I believe that wanting to have such an importance is indicative of their thirst for power. Consequently, they have strategies to reach their goal.
This heap of lies has long term consequences : who are we supposed to vote for ?
And in Europe the abstention rate is so high that the idea of compulsory voting is rising up. This abstention rate is caused in part by that, the lie and always the lie.
Apart from the elections, during their mandate politicians have caused damage that are unforgettable. For instance the blood contaminated with HIV and its responsible : Michel Garetta, Jean-Pierre Allain, Robert Netter and Jacques Roux (Director general of Health). Not to mention the lies of Trump at the international level.
If I were to be more lenient, they are still some good things that politicians have done, really.

In conclusion, politicians have their own goals and purposes. In order to achieve them they lie, thinking this is the only way to be heard or because they made promises they can’t keep. Finally, I don’t think that politicians can be trusted fully.
