What do you think about school trips ?

35 comments:

  1. Hello, first i would like to thank Mrs Ricketts for allowing us to go to Ireland.
Being a student currently in High School, educational trips allow us to take time outside the classroom while still learning about the subject at hand. It also improves other aspects other than education. It increases sociability, gives the students real world experiences, and gives a break from the normal classroom.

  2. Hello everyone ,

I think school trips are good for many reasons . Firstly a school trip can enrich our culture because we can travel to countries where the culture is not the same as ours . Secondly , a school trip is a pleasure to share with our friends but also with our teachers . A school trip can also enrich our vocabulary by speaking the language of the country . Indeed the school trip is a pleasure , an apprenticeship , a memory and a beautiful experience .

  3. Hi everyone!

As far as I am concerned, I believe that school trips are definitely beneficial in a teenager's schooling. Indeed, in a nutshell, a school trip allow us to discover another culture and improve our skills in a language, moreover if it is in a foreign country. Personnally, I went on two trips, the first one was in Spain next to Barcelona, and the second one was recent, in Ireland, in Greystones next to Dublin ; to be honest, both were really enriching and gave me the chance to experience something that I would have never done with my family, therefore I am really grateful to my teachers for that.
However, it can be really expensive for some pupils, because they have a large family for example. That's why they can't afford any trip. Besides, I do have a large family, furthermore, my mother had to make loads of sacrifices in order to let me participate to the trip. Finally, I guess it was worth it because I was really glad experiencing this and I would like to go back to an anglophone country!

Thanks for reading, Noa MT, 1L.

  4. Hello everyone,

Last week I went on a school trip with my abibac class and my history teacher to Cologne in Germany. It was really fun.

To me, school trips are a good way to get to know your classmates and your teachers in a different and more casual environment than school. Moreover, some students don’t have the opportunity to travel. This can be for many different reasons, for example their parents don’t earn enough, their parents don’t like travelling etc., just so school trips would give them that opportunity. Travelling is very important to me, I think it’s important to get to know the different cultures and lifestyles from different countries, to discover the world’s diversity, to get out of your comfort zone and to put life in perspective. It would be good if schools tried to offer more trips to students even though the prices are quite high.

I really enjoyed my trip to Germany. We visited many villages and our history teacher was able to tell us a lot about the history of those villages which was very interesting because not every parent would be able to talk about the history and culture of different countries. That’s another reason why school trips are a good for education.

To me, school trips are a fun way to discover the culture and history of many different countries with your teachers and classmates and are, for many students, an opportunity to discover the world.

  5. Hello,
I think that school trips are a very good idea because they allow you to travel and discover new things as well as have a good time and improve your culture. Everyone loves school trips but there are none at all schools. Travel to other countries is even better because it allows to know the functioning of other countries and know a little better the world. I think there should be a lot more because sometimes school trips are much more useful. It's cool and informative.

  6. Hello everyone,
In my opinion school trips are really important for students. First of all, it allows students to travel, because some families are not able to travel for some different reasons. Furthermore, it allows students to enhance their social, cultural and educational growth.
To add more, visiting a new country is enssential for a person, especially students, because it shows a new way of life and people can learn new things and learn how to live better. By visting a new place, people can also discover things about themselves ; I mean, they can realise that their place is not actual country, for example.
However, school trips are a bit too short to learn a new language but it can lead students to learn a new one!

  7. Hello everyone,

For me a school trip is a good idea since during this trip we can learn many things. For example the history of the city or the country. We can especially work our oral expression. To go on a school trip thus generally allows to improve his vocabulary. It's also beneficial to discover other habits and other cultures.
Finally I think it's a real opportunity to go on a school trip even if the trip does not last long one can enrich oneself intellectually.

  8. Hello everyone !

I think school trips are very important.
First of all it allows to go to foreign countries to see different cultures, different landscapes. Then it allows you to share good moments with your classmates and teachers in a more playful way than in class. Finally, travel is a good way to immerse oneself in the country and thus be in contact with people who speak fluently the language learned theoretically in class, so it’s a good way to progress in language, even though it’s true that school trips are generally short-term.
To conclude, school trips implemented by the school are an opportunity for students to know new cultures, and apply what they have learned in language class to communicate with the population in a new country.

  9. Hi everyone!
To my part I've never been on a school trip, except once: I was 6 and my teacher took us to the ski one week.
To begin with, it's very cool for a child or a teenager to leave on a school trip, because you leave with friends and you know that you're going to spend a fun week. Plus, family is not part of the trip, you spend the whole time with the classmates. So the shool trip really learns to socialize more with other people than family especially when you're young.
Furthermore, the trip makes you discover new landscapes, a new country or city. It's a trip that can help to be even more openminded and which can help to break away from the family "cocoon".
In conclusion, the school trip is a very good idea to get to know the classmates, it's a discovery trip and I think it's fun to share it with students outside the school!

  10. Hello,
For my part, I think that a school trip is a great opportunity for students to practice their language skills, especially communication skills to understand and speak.
Students on a school trip get a chance to meet new people. It furthermore allows them to make new friends: be that with locals (maybe a host family's child) or with other students on the trip, who, due to whatever reason, they never really got to know until now.
It is important too for students to expand their worldview, to be taken out of their comfort zone and get an opportunity to appreciate other cultures.

  11. School trips have many advantages for students. No matter how long it takes, I think it is a school trip and the opportunity to make progress in language, as well as to learn about the country's culture. Unlike the course, school trips allow us to have our own opinion on cultural differences. It is also easier and more fun to learn the language.
Moreover, it also allows us to discover new things, to broaden our knowledge about the world as well as for teachers, to get to know their students beyond the grades.
Finally, school trips allow us to meet new people, offering lots of opportunities to practice their social skills. It furthermore allows them to make new friend.

  12. Hello,

There are several kinds of school trips. Some school travel in the same country where they are located to increase knowledge's students. But life is full of surprises and you can not be sure to stay in your country of origin all your life. So you need to learn other languages. And what is better than school trips to do that ?

Trips are the best way to learn languages, other cultures, other traditions; and trips with school are even better. Indeed, teenagers at school learn these kinds of informations (about a country) more easily, and faster than adults. Furthermore, in a teenager's schooling, there is the possibility to learn languages like English.
On top of that, when you go to an other country, you also discover a new culture, new sport (GAA in Ireland) , new food, new tradition...

To conclude, I would say that yes, school trips are very important in a teenager's schooling for his future (jobs) , his knowledge, and to educate him about living in an other country very different of his own country.

  13. Not everybody can to on school trips, but some lucky. School trips need a huge organisation, and they are planned a long time before. During thèse, teenagers van visite a lot of monuments, museum, and learn moreau about the city and the country which they are visiting.
Furthermore, the main goal of these travels is to practice as much as de could the language of the country that we are visiting. The best way to learn a language is to practice. For example, a month ago, my class and I went to Ireland, in Dublin, and we lived with Irish families. Living with Irish families allowed us to practice, and speak English a lot with them; even if we make some mitakes, the post important is to practice.
However, we don't always live in families when we are on school trips, we can live in a hôtel. When we live in a hôtel, we don't really practice the language of the country, because we are with our friends and we speak the same language, so we don't practice the other one.
Finally, in my opinion, shcool trips in a teenager's schooling is really important, because we can increase our culture, and it's easier for us to learn a new language. Furthermore, I found our trip really good, because we were independant, and if we didn't know where to go, we could ask some people what to do; whereas if we stayed in group, we will only speak in French.

  15. Hello everyone,
In my opinion, school trips can only be beneficial for a teenager studies. First of all, if we visit a foreigner country ( like Ireland) it allows us to practice a foreigner language ( here English) and to learn a new culture. You can also discover the history of the country by visiting museum. It is also a good way to get to know better your classmates and teacher.
If school trips are really fun and enjoyable for the pupils, it is a lot of responsibility for the teacher. Therefore I can only say thank you to Mrs Ricketts for bringing us in Ireland.

  16. Hi everyone,

This year, I was lucky enough to go on a school trip in Ireland, thanks to Mrs. Ricketts. Beside the fact that it was my very first one, here is what I've learnt from it:

School trips are a good opportunity to :
    - practice a foreign language. In fact I had my "Irish family" and I also had to ask my way more than once to Irish people and communicate with them and at the same time learnt new words.
    - discover a new culture, the local food, get some knowledge. Effectively, two women taught us the traditional Irish dance, we learnt the history of Ireland during "the conflicts", and visited a lot of museums and monuments (historical, art galleries, city halls, cathedrals...)
    - Give the opportunity to students to be open to the world and aware of what happens outside their country, that is an experience that traditional schools do not always teach us.
    - Manage more or less alone in a unknown city.
    - Create unique and memorable friendships and memories.

Thanks for reading, Amira Ines 1ES2

  17. School trips are very instructive and allow students to discover new things with their classmates.
I was part of a school trip not long ago. We went to Germany with my Abibac class and this was my first school trip.
I thought it was a pity that we slept with correspondents, but this school trip was not like the others.
Indeed, we were only 11 students with a teacher and we all knew each other very well and were all very friendly, we could then go to the restaurant at 12 persons and our teacher was very friendly and close to us.
As we are older we had much more freedom than in normal school trips and we could have breaks to go out freely in the city.
I loved this trip but as it was the only one and it was a little special, I don't know how it works in normal school trips.

  18. I only had the opportunity once in my school years to participate in a school trip and I found my week really rewarding. Indeed, we discover and learn a lot during school trips but I can only say one thing: everything depends on the coordination between the group and the organization that must be clearly pre-established.

  19. I went on a school trip this year with my German class. And I have to say, I really appreciated it. Indeed it allowed me to discover new places in Germany and to develop closer relationships with the people in my class. So I think that if people have the opportunity to go on a school trip, they should do so because it is very rewarding.

  20. Hello everyone!

To me, school trips are a good way to get to know new cultures and live in a different environment during a week or more. Even if I never went on a school trip, I'd like to, and I think that it's funny and interesting because you share that experience with people that you used to see quickly at school.

Hope you have a good day!

  21. First I love school trips even if to be honest I never had the opportunity to participate in a school trip. Indeed I think that it’s a good way to discover a new culture. We are young and we have to meet other people , to understand other traditions and to learn other languages. That it’s just so interesting ! This trip can also help us to do some choice for our future. To conclude I would really enjoy participating in a school trip even if it will be hard because it remains me only one year before the end of high-school. Vincent 1s1

  22. Having the chance to go on a school trip is really scarce. In fact, it is really difficult for teachers to organise everything and to make the school and everyone agree. This is the reason why there is not much school trips. However it is really useful and pleasant. It allows students to learn foreign languages, to meet new people, discover new cultures and mentality. And all of this is really important to make people open-minded. Our class had the chance to go to Ireland this year and it was awesome.

  23. Hello everyone,

I think that school trips are a great idea, I haven't been on a school trip since I was 13 years old, but I remember it being one of my favorite childhood memories. With my class we traveled to Italy and visited Florence for a week. I was able to get to know some of the people of my class with whom I didn't talk a lot on a daily basis, and I made some new friends. I hope to be able to go on another school trip before the end of high-school and make some new memories with my class.

  24. Hi everyone,

To begin we will talk about school trips. I think that taking a school trip has several advantages. First of all, to make a trip allows you to discover a new place, a new culture. There are different types of school trips. we can make a trip with our history teacher for example in order to visit historic places or we can go to a foreign country with a language teacher to improve our level. In both cases, it is an enriching journey. It also allows us to get closer to our friends and teachers. Moreover I left with my class last year, we went to Berlin. we discovered a lot of things, I liked a lot. To conclude taking a school trip is a good thing.

  25. To my opinion school trips is one of the best things which can happen at school. First, trips are really exciting and are a way to discover new parts of the world. I guess that it is a precious time to share with classmates to know them better. It strengthens links with others. In school trips the destination is always an interesting city with monuments and a new culture indeed it’s often in another country. During the week or couple of days students can eat differently than in France or just have new opportunities. They also speak another language which is useful for their language learning and culture. Sometimes they have to sleep by fosters families. They also can discuss and learn from them. As far as I am concerned, I made two school trips in my whole life. These travels were in the context of a student exchange program. I went alone to Germany, once in a small village and the next one in a big city called Hanover. My last exchange student was really nice and I also learned a lot from her family. I staid two months, that’s why I went to her school where I always had a great time. With this trip I grew up and I really appreciate to learn about another culture, ways of lives and a new language. Finally, I consider that schools should propose more school trips indeed they are an important thing to know the world better and to have fun.

For me school trips are a very interesting social experience. For instance, i went with my class college when i was 14 years old in London and it was very cool because i went to the Harry Potter studio , in addition i improved my English and i visit a lot of good places like Camden Town in London.I love this town and i was very happy to share my experience with my mates because before this trip i went twice in London and i visited a lot of good places with my mother and this experience permit me to know the city well and so i could easily take my friends to nice places and help my teachers when they organize the trip.
There is another aspect with school trips, when i went in New-York i just fell in love with the town and at this moment i start to think about my project and this trip guide me in the choice of my studies.
