New high technology : The Tesla Bot

After the Artificial Intelligence Day event (on August 2021), Elon Musk announced that Tesla would build a prototype of the Tesla Bot by 2022. The Tesla bot is a conceptual general-purpose robotic humanoid created to help us in daily life, and, it should be equipped with a brain similar to the one of a human.

Tesla bot features :

What do you think about it ? Do you think that the Tesla Bot can be dangerous for us ?

  1. In my opinion, technology is going to evolve in the futur to help humans in their daily lives. First of all, humans are able to manage their lives with the help of their families and friends or they can use an assistant to help them, but I don't think that a robot is suited for those kinds of needs. Furthermore, Robots should be used to help humans by operating them, finding ways to provide the entire population with food, they should be used for necessities and not as helpers for rich people. Moreover, if robots such as Tesla bot are going to be used on a daily basis they would be a lot of unemployments and poverty will get worse. So I don't think that robots such as the tesla bot are useful and I think that they are going to create a disaster on an economic level and maybe even on the safety level because they have a brain that is similar to ours.

  2. During a conference Elon Musk explained the robot that promises to revolutionize our daily lives.
The Tesla Bot will be used to do everything that humans do not want to do. First I want to say the bot is a complete revolution of transhumanism: it is very similar to a human body. Moreover they will be able to do a lot of tasks like us: carrying object, running…It would be very useful to have them to do the difficult tasks but it will not be the same if the robots do all the difficult tasks in our society. Jobs will be lost, for example. Then, it is scary to see that Elon Musk decided to reduce the capacity of the bot (it cannot run faster than 8km/h); he seems insecure about his own creation. That's why I think it can be dangerous like any technology because we don't know how it will enter society and how it will evolve.
To conclude, I find it reassuring that the technology will only be sold when the verification tests are completely done. In fact I find this type of technology dangerous and threatening to our society.

  3. I think that technology will evolve over time to help humans in their everyday lives, this is already the case with telephones which are mini computers or any home technology such as hoovers, blenders or hotplates to replace fire. Indeed, humans are able to manage their own lives, they are responsible for their own thoughts and actions, they are also conscious and know who to be friends with and who not to. At work, bosses may need assistants or secretaries to help them but robots are not suitable for all situations. Furthermore, robots should be helping humans with artificial intelligence or science, such as finding cures for diseases or finding ways to feed a population, they should be used out of necessity, not as helpers for individuals, except in the case of a robot to assist the elderly. If robots like the Tesla robot were used every day, there would be a lot of job losses and unemployment would increase. At petrol stations or motorway toll booths or even in factories, many robots have taken the place and therefore the jobs of thousands of people. So I don't think that robots like Tesla's robots are useful, I think they won't be necessary and investing in this project could be a terrible mistake or worse fearing a revolution like in science fiction movies.

  4. Hello,
Recently Elon Musk has reveled his plans for the creation of a humanoid robot called the Tesla Bot. In fact the idea of building robots in order to relieve people from laborious and repetitive tasks is not new. Indeed robots can be very helpful in factories for example or in dangerous jobs. However robots are starting to be used as companions for elderly people such as in Japan. Furthermore the Tesla bot is meant to have a personality and a brain like a human being.
In my opinion these robots could constitute a danger for humanity. First I don’t think robots can show empathy and affection to people in need like the elderly and handicapped. Secondly these intelligent robots could escape our control and become a threat for us.
In conclusion I believe that Elon Musk is out of touch with reality and that we should be very cautious regarding transhumanism.

  5. I do believe that technical progress and innovations are good news to hear because it usually make life easier, as phones for instance. However as regards to robots I also believe that human are creating their own enemies.

Indeed, if we take a look to science, there are so many things that nowadays we are able to do due to technical advancements as artificial intelligence, we can take the example of surgeries. Yet, the probleme of human beings is that they don't have boarders, the human goes always too far, by creating this Tesla Bot that in theory will "help human in daily life" we are creating our future issues. Verily, I don't see in what this robot can help humans in daily life as we already have all sorts of machines which already help us, such as phones, dishwasher, hoover. Furthermore, this robot will increase social gaps and inequalities as it will replace people's works, it will increase precarity, so as regards to economics humans lives will founder, and be sure it won't be the wealthier. Moreover, the fact that we constantly create new robots that are always more similar to human beings, here with a "brain similar to human one's", leads us to wonder about what in the future will make us different from robots ? I think that the Tesla Bot or other robots similar can be a source of insecurities for humans as they will be in a sort of competition with it, that over time will alienate humans.

To put it in a nutshell, personally I think that robots that are increasingly similar to human beings can prove to be a real danger for us, as regards to economics, or even to the relation with ourselves those robots endanger the human existence. Therefore, are we creating our tomorrow enemies ?

    Hello,
I think artificial intelligence in our daily lives can be a real asset. Moreover, robots may be useful for elderly people who are alone and
cannot perform the daily tasks or people who need companionship. It can also help mentally or physically handicapped people. However,
new technologies, including those related to artificial intelligence, may become dangerous. Many robots conquering the world, have
been represented in many science fiction films. To conclude, we can say that these technojogical inventions are real feats and advances for science, but we must know how to make good use of these technologies which, in the wrong hands, could represent
    a danger.

  7. It is quite surprising to hear that Elon Musk wants to create a humanoid robot because he has always been suspicious of artificial intelligence: he often says that it represents a great danger for our civilization, and that it absolutely must be regulated. His goal would be to liberate humanity from “boring, repetitive, dangerous tasks”. Moreover, he would like it to be able to develop a unique personality over time. Elon Musk also said that it could be a good companion for those who feel lonely. At first, I would rather encourage this invention because it would allow us to have more time to do what we want and it could make people feel happier. Nevertheless, the fact that the personality can evolve beyond our control is quite disturbing. It could thus become uncontrollable and dangerous. This news surprised me because, as a child, I believed that, in the future, we would live with robots and our cars would drive on their own and that is what is about to happen.
I also heard that Elon Musk was developing a brain chip in order to “cure” tinnitus. I think that he should rather concentrate on this project instead of trying to create a robot which could be a threat for us.

Technology continues to evolve over time. the appearance of robots becoming more and more normalized. The latter are physically similar to man and are able to speak and act like him: this is transhumanism. Transhumanism defends the idea of transforming the human into a "superhuman" with superior physical and intellectual capacities. The rise of robots would allow humans to perform tasks that they could not do alone, to develop medical methods or to reduce the number of car accidents thanks to autonomous cars. But these inventions cause many problems such as the inequality between human and transhuman which could lead to wars or the fear that technology will surpass man and cause his downfall. Here the invention of elon musk aims to help the human being in his daily life. On this principle one could say that this creation is a benefit for man. But the rise of these new technologies may have serious consequences for humanity. Indeed, these robots can replace humans and become too powerful

  9. First of all, technologies advancement is always impressing me. Concerning Elon Musk, he innovates a lot and I think he has the potential to create amazing and useful things, like this Tesla bot.
This Tesla bot was created to help us in our daily life so I think it could be very useful, especially for disabled people who cannot for example carry their groceries. However, it would be very impressive, but also terrifying in a way, if Elon Musk succeeded with his "human brain" prototype because it would suggest new risks and I think it would make us less unique, but we can reassure ourselves by saying that the brain is so complex that I doubt it could succeed.
And for the second question, I don't think it's that dangerous since Elon Musk made the bot small and light enough to be overpowered by a human in case of rebellion or attack as shown : the height of 5'8" and the weight of 125 LBS.
I can't wait to see what the future brings !

  10. First of all, even if I think that the scientific evolutions are brilliant and can make us evolve, I also think that there are limits. I am totally against the implementation of human robots. I don't think it's necessary but rather dangerous. I think Elon Musk must not have seen the science fiction movies where robots, present in everyone's life, rebel against man. And even if it's science fiction, I think it could very well become reality if we don't put limits to science. Even if it really makes life easier, I think the benefits are less important than the dangers that these robots represent. I think that as great scientists, there are other daily problems to focus on, like studying diseases that are not curable yet.

  11. First of all , we all know that in recent years technological research has been very developed and we live in a very connected world.
On the one hand , I think it is not dangerous but on the contrary very useful for us in our daily life especially to do our unwanted things and to help us in life.
but on the other hand , I think this could be dangerous because these humanoids after having developed their brains can turn against us.

  12. I think this robot has benefits, such as it could help people with disabilities or a sick person.
But I think that this robot is not useful for everyone and that it could be dangerous for us, if there is for example a malfunction or if we are used to its presence, we can create bad habits.
Finally it is stressful to know that we can create robots that have the same abilities as humans.

  13. I completely support technological progress. It amazes me how fast this progress develops, and so far, it brings positive results. However, people shoul be always cautious and set limits about what this progress is used for.
If the robotic humanoid has been tested multiple times with success, then I wouldn't be against it. Maybe this Tesla bot will help humans and with it our life will be easier. It can be time and energy saving but this robot can also start to remplace people, that will increase poverty and unemploymlent rates.
Technological progress can help us but it also can get out of control. People should think about bad consequences before.

  14. These days, the technological progress develops extremely fast and it brings us diverse consequences that can be good and bad at the same time.In this case, the developing of Tesla bot might be dangereous but with probability of bringing positive changes into our society. So, maybe the artificial intelligence can help our population onlu if we use it wisely. Otherwise, in my opinion it will impact our society with ramifications like unemployement rate or even increasing of poverty. But at the same time it can be very useful for us. So, consequently, I support this kind of inventation but only if it not bne dangerous for us

  15. I think that this robot can be helpful to do some basic tasks that we are all fed up with doing everyday such as cleaning, cooking, grocery shopping, etc. It will also be a great purchase for people struggling with a disability. But the fact that its brain has the same capabilities as the human brain is worrying because it will become hard to differentiate humans and robots. So, the Tesla Bot will be able to overcome us after some time. Moreover, if we get used to its advantages, we will become lazy and will start depending on a machine just like we rely on our smartphones these days. Plus, the emergence of the Tesla Bot will lead to unemployment as house helpers, drivers, nannies… will risk losing their jobs.

I think there are pros and cons in this new invention.
The Tesla Bot, can be a help for disabled people, for old people. It can also
be a help in some job like the work at the line.
But I also think that the creation of this robot can be dangerous because it
can become crazy, we do not know if it can be hacked. Then it can also
create unemployment, by taking tasks from employees like assembly line
work. A boss will have more an advantage to take this machine that he will
pay in one time than an employee that he must pay every month.

  17. Hi,

Innovations always divide people into two groups those who are enthusiastic about them and those who are reluctant about them.

In my opinion, this innovation could turn out to be a breakthrough that will change and facilitate our lives. The chores will no longer be a problem.

However, to catch on, this innovation has to be sustainable and abide by ecological constraints. In fact, the energy needed for its functioning and maintenance has to be optimal not to waste energy unnecessarily. Besides, the environmental cost of its production has to be low enough to be considered sustainable.

Last but not least, I understand that some people are reluctant about it and even fear this innovation. It has a brain similar to ours thus it may behave like us and even take over our world if they are widespread.

We can not conclude yet since it has not even been engineered. I do not even think that there is a prototype. We need hindsight to analyze better this innovation yet it may be too late...
