  1. Hello,
So I had to read a book for English class untitled "Ask No Questions". The story takes place in Washington DC, the USA. It was about an employee, Robert Campbell, he works for the Pentagon. He was accused of leaking secret information to a website so he did a polygraph test with a lie-detector and it said that he was guilty.
Then his lawyer, Mr Cavin Steve, called Dr Alexandre Lelong, a psychologist who can read the facial micro-expression to know the veritable thoughts of people consequently he had to analyse the polygraph results. He noticed that Robert Campbell was not guilty.
Moreover he discovered that it was his ex-wife Kathy, now Robert's wife who leaked the information to the website with her micro-facial-expression that she tried to hide.
I liked this book because it different from the books we give to us in general and it is recent. Besides the story is original and we are not bored to read it.

  2. Hello,
The last book I’ve read is called « Hedda Gabler » which was published in 1891 by Ibsen. It’s about a pregnant women called Hedda who get married to a boring man. However, Hedda’s ex-boyfriend who was alcoholic and a loser before came to her house. He became famous and was really close to another girl, then Hedda became really jealous and realized that she was always in love for him. This is an interesting tragedy because it’s really easy to understand. I advise you this book especially for the French final exam at the end of the year.
    Have a great day.

  3. Hello everyone !
The last book I've read is "A walk to remember", a novel written by Nicholas Sparks which relates the history of Jamie Sullivan and Landon Carter, high school students who fell deeply and irrevocably in love in 1958.

Though they were completely differents : Landon was a child of a rich family, who liked going out with friends and having fun and Jamie was a pastor's daughter, who liked caring to all, to help everyone, and was mocked by Landon and his friends because she was too different of them, as a president of the student council, he had to invite her for being his rider for the ball.

Then, He had the opportunity to get to know her better ... Little by little, he fell in love with the girl. But it breaks her heart when she revealed the truth to him: suffering from leukemia, she had only a few months to live, without any possibility of hope.

To my mind, it is for good a master piece! I was absolely fond of this book while I had read it because it's very both heart touching and woeful. It learns a lot about life and difficulties we have to fight against. So I really recommend this book if you haven't read this yet !

  5. Hey everyone !
The The last book I've read is "En voiture Simone", a novel written by Aurélie Valognes which relates the history of the Le Guennec family composed of Jacques, an oppressive husband, married to Martine, a mother in rebellion after forty years of marriage. They have three sons, Matthieu, an eternal teenager, Nicolas, a tedious chef and Alexandre, a dreamer, and also three unbearable daughters-in-law, Stéphanie, an anxious mother, Laura, a vegetarian and Jeanne, a feminist. Antoinette, a grandmother of particular wisdom, completes this explosive family.
I found this book light and humorous which remains faithful to the author's style (also read "Mémé dans les orties" or "Granny in the nettles").
I liked, in this novel, the theme of family but also of acceptance: how to accept your daughters-in-law when you are parents and how to be accepted when you are stepchildren. Under a background of lightness, Aurélie Valognes tackles important subjects in which many families find themselves

  6. Hi,
The last book I have read is "Ubu Roi" written Alfred Jarry. I had to read this book for the French class but I actually really liked it!
This book tells the story of a man, Ubu, who is really stupid. Once, her wife manipulate him to kill the King and replace him. Throughout the story we learn that Ubu is mean, crazy, especially a traitor and he can do everything to have people's money (he kills a lot of people). But all of this is done with a lot of humour and in an hyperbolic way.
I think that is why I really liked this book. There is a lot of humour, as I said before, and the plot is pretty interesting. Since I read the first scene I loved it! This book is not that hard to read but it is fun!
    Thank you for reading.

  7. Hi everyone,

The last book I read is actually one we had to read for English class. It is called “The Consultant” and it is written by Rupert Morgan. The author is an English writer and journalist living in France who was born in 1965 in London.

The story is about a company named Amelyosis’s consultants who are on a business trip on an island in the Indian Ocean for a week. One morning, the electricity and the phones don’t work anymore, and nobody knows if the plane that is supposed to pick them up will come. Will the law of Nature take control of the consultants?
I appreciate that novel because it shows how people truly are during a crisis: some take advantage of the situation by acting like dictators and making rules that take off individual rights; some follow those rules without protesting; some try to escape by any means. It also shows interactions between people: friendship can turn into animosity and love is able to grow stronger in situations like this.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Indeed, it is modern literature that is easy to understand. So, to conclude, I would advise you to read “The Consultant”.

    Thanks for reading,

  8. Hey, the last book I've read is "La Peste" by Albert Camus, it deals with an epidemic of plague in Oran in the 1940's (which never existed fortunately). The identity of the narrator is only revealed in the last chapter, but through the book he tells us how people lived, cut from the outside world, by a chronicles form.

It's really interesting to see how people act and react about that, on the one hand, the religious believe that this is a divine punishment, because men are not enough involved in religion ; and on the other hand, we follow a little group of men who fight against this disease, and mainly try to help others to not give up.

What I liked about that book, is the evolution of some characters, bad ou not ; how the Human reacts when he faces something that could kill him, does he become selfish? Or does he try to fight for and with everyone? Moreover, the author said that his book is a metaphor of the second world war, for instance : people who make profit by selling expensive bare necessities are collaborators, the ones who try to fight against it are the resistants, and last but not least, the plague is the nazis.

Actually, I had to read this book for French class but it was so spellbinding that I defenitely recommend it ! On top of that, it was really easy to read.

    Thanks for reading,

  9. Hello everyone,
The book I am currently reading is called " The Hate U Give". It was written by Angie Thomas. The book follows the Life of the young black girl, Starr Carter, after she witnessed her childhood's bestfriend being shot by a police officer. She is the only one who saw what happen. Starr is torn appart between telling the truth and honoring the memory of her bestfriend or saying nothing like the police officer told her and keeping her family safe.
From what I've read, I really like that book who denounce the racism and the violence of the police, which is a sensible, actual subject.

  10. Hello,
The last book I have read is " Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen. It is a romantic story between Elizabeth Bennet called Lizzy and Mr. Darcy. Darcy comes from the highest rank in society while, Lizzy comes from a modest rank. In spite of that he falls head over heels in love with her and has to fight against his barley and prejudices to have her love. Troughout the story we can see how the prejudices can be false and how the result of the pride can be serious and sad.

  12. Hi everyone,

We had to read a book in my English class called “The Consultant” by Rupert Morgan.

First, I will quickly sum-up the story of this book. The scene takes place in a paradisiac island near the Indian Ocean, employees from a company named Amelyosis are on a business trip for a week. But one day, the electricity and the water don’t work anymore and nobody knows if the plane that is supposed to catch them back will come. Disasters follow each other and the consultants will make some serious decisions.

This book scared me a little by the way people react when a crisis happens. It really shows the true human nature and how people are with each other. This book is also about love because the main character will do anything to escape from this island and save the woman he loves.
Besides, I really liked this book because it was easy to read and we could clearly see the British humor of the author.

  13. Hi everyone !

To my point of view reading is one of the best activities, as it develops our imagination and our reflexion.

To continue the last book I read is an italian book named "Là-bas", written by Leonardo Patrignani. The story is about an 18-years-old girl who lost her mom in a hold up. One day she dreams about an accident and the death of a young man. She starts believing this dream will help her communicate with dead people. Helped by a doctor, she discovers the man she dreamt about is still alive so she tries to save him from his predicted future.

According to me, the book was a bit long and not always very interesting. The first part talks a lot about how the girl is desesperated after her mom died, as a consequence it became boring and I didn't feel as sorry for the girl as I should be. Furthermore the story is kinda flat, except at the end. There are only a few interesting actions, but they are often cut by the girl's thought. Finally, I didn't really enjoy the end. If you are reading this book, I don't want to spoil you so I'm not going to tell what happens, but I was totally expecting that end. Indeed I wanted to be surprised, as a result I was a bit disappointed.

If you read this book, I'd like to know what you thought of it. To my mind it wasn't the best book I've read.

  14. I read a book named « the consultant » by rupert morgan, i think it’s an amazing book.
Indeed, it shows the reality of the market world and also how human reacts in real life to save themselves. We can see the world of management consultant with their vocabulary, their vision of the world and this side «  far from the people » that thrills so much, we come to forget that the others are not just a performance indicator but a human being. However there is a love story that bring a ray of sunshine in this scary story.
We learn about those meeting that last so long but where nothing is said. Also i learned about the law of capitalism that puts human in the background, everything here is a pretext to makes us laugh. The author make us wondering how far the colleagues will go, in the denial of themselves, we feel like we are in a mini-survival. There is a cruel and funny satire of the world.

  15. Hello everyone,
The last book I've read is "The consultant" , It is written by Rupert Morgan. We had to read this for English class.

First , this story is quite strange...To sum up, it is about a group of young people leaving a week of intensive management business on a tropical island in the middle of the Indian Ocean. In others words they are on a business training seminar with a company "Amelyosis Corporate Solutions" wo will become subsequently "Amelyosis Corporate Solutions and fishing". However they have many adventures that complicates their seminar ... The electricity is gone, there is no power in the kitchen, problem for the toilet system and the radio station are not working... is it a plane crash? We don't know... Without electricity, the hotel desalination plant is out of fact: there is just enough mineral water for 1 week ! Afterwards, the hotel's on fire , consequently muesli supplies are going down : they have to find fishes from the coral reef and they live by the seaside, on the beach. They learn essential survival skills. How are they going to do then to survive ? Human Ressource ? Or rather lick into shape ?

In my opinion, I appreciate this novel because I love to be surprised and I was amazed at the end ! Futhermore, I really appreciate the love relationship of Marianne and James. Usually I don't read a book written in english so this is the first time and now I will do it more often. On the one hand I would like to know the rest of their adventures. But on the other hand, I think that it allows to imagine ourselves the end.

  16. Emilie Brontë, an English writer, wrote in 1847 a novel called “Wuthering Heights”. This is the last book I have read.
The story deals with a love and revenge story. Mr Earnshaw, Hindley and Catherine’s father, adopted a child named Heathcliff when he comes back from a journey in Liverpool. Heathcliff is hated by Mrs Earnshaw and Hindley. Nevertheless, Heathcliff and Catherine become good friends. The atmosphere comes darker and darker, we notice that the characters are very cruel: they are violent, they are scaring, nearly mad. It is uncomfortable. Throughout the book, we understand that Heathcliff and Catherine are in love. Their love is compromitted first because Catherine is from a good family and Heathcliff is a commoner, so they can’t get married and secondly because Catherine begins to get interested by Edgar Linton (the son of a rich family living not far from the Earnshaw). Edgar and Catherine get married, Heathcliff disappears and comes back but Catherine still loves him and him too, he hates Edgar… This is about an impossible love between Catherine and Heathcliff, two characters destroyed by their own love. Next, we can add that the narration is very interesting and complicated because there are stories (which do not take place at the same period) of different characters of the book narrated by different characters. We can also discover a new landscape (countryside of England through different description).
Finally, I very appreciate this book, I recommend it.

  17. Hello everyone,
First at all, I think that reading can be very interesting to develop our imagination and our culture.

I don't like reading but there are books that I like as the last on I read, it was "The fault in our stars". This book is not new but it's a story I like. I saw the movie when it came out.
This story is about a relationship between 2 young people who are seriously sick. At the beginning we attend their meeting and we tell their story until the end. These 2 young teenagers support each other, they believe in it until the end despite having no luck in their lives.

To conclude, I loved this story. There is intrigue and it's a beautiful story. In my mind it's the best book that John Green has written. Thanks to this book, this story of these two teenagers we can realize that we are lucky in our life.

  18. Hello,
The last book I've read was "Le roi s'amuse" by Victor Hugo. Contrary to what the title announces, the protagonist is not a king but a court jester. This book is about a court jester, Triboulet, who is ugly and hunchbacked, and who conceals from the world his daughter Blanche; he wants to protect her from seduction and only lets her out to attend mass. However, one day, the courtiers have come after Blanche whom they believed to be Triboulet's mistress. This is to be the revenge of the courtiers on the jester. At the end of the story, Blanche, the jester's daughter, has fallen in love of the king. Triboulet had paid an assassin to kill the king, because he was his enemy. Blanche decided to save him by sacrificing herself. Finally, Triboulet discovered that his daughter had been killed, by his fault.
In my opinion, this book was great, I liked reading it, because it was easy to read, and the story was catchy. However, there were sometimes monologues, which were too long, and it was boring. Futhermore, this book was written by Victor Hugo, a famous writer of the 19° century. Finally, the plot of this book was a purpose, that of denouncing the society of his time.

Foreign books are good ways to deepen the language. Reading in general, allows the assimilation of new vocabulary and enriches the general culture.

The last book I read is "The Consultant", which I read for my English class. It was written by Rupert Morgan.
This satirical novel presents us with a group of consultants who come from different companies. This group is led by Cicero. They are on a desert island in the middle of the Indian Ocean to undergo a training to improve their skills.
Unfortunately, after a computer problem and a fire, they find themselves without water, without food and without electricity. Then, We follow their progress on the Island without means of survis.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Indeed, the story is fascinating and the book is really easy to read and understand !

  21. Hello,
The last book I read is Shakespeare's Macbeth. Macbeth, Thane of Glamis, receives a prophecy from a trio of witches who predicts that he will become Thane of Cawdor and "king after." His wife, Lady Macbeth, urges him to seize this opportunity and take the throne. One night, Macbeth murders King Duncan in his sleep and accuses the guards of the crime.
First, what I appreciated, after reading Ubu roi I read before, which is the rewrite of Macbeth, is that it's exactly the same scenario and the same structure in the play. Moreover, I really appreciated this book for its precision and its intrigues. But what I did not like is the violent side of Macbeth who is often present.

  22. Hello,

The most recent book I have read is "Macbett" written by Eugene Ionesco in 1972. This is a parody of Shakespeare's "Macbeth" and I found it very amusing as I had previously read Macbeth in order to understand the points used by Ionesco to make us laugh. An interesting example is that in the Shakespearean play, Macbeth is introduced as Thane of Glamis, becoming Thane of Cawdor and finally King.
Ionesco, on the other hand, presents Cawdor as a different person, together with Glamis, with the names Candor and Glamiss, who are leagued against the king. The three witches from Macbeth are also parodied, reinvented s two women wearing witches costumes, who are in fact the king's wife and her "assistant". Ionesco is making fun of Shakespeare's play by saying these are the real witches. These were therefore just a few examples of Ionesco enjoying parodying Shakespeare.

I would like to talk with you about a famous book, named "Hunger Games", written by Suzanne Collins, released in 2008. The story is about a girl named Katniss Everdeen, who took her sister's place in the Hunger Games, a fight to death on live TV. The Hunger Games took place in an arena, with 24 participants or "tributes". The 12 district of Panem are forced to pay tribute to Capitol regime each year. The Hunger Games aim is to eliminate the 23 others contestants and to survive to the traps and genetic mutations of the Capitol. During the book, we follow Katniss, and her efforts to return alive in her district, like she promised to her sister Prim.
It's the third time I read this book, and each time I'm carried away by the story, full of twists and emotions. The characters are attaching, likeable and we hope that nobody will die, Katniss manage to beat the Capitol and the President Snow. I really recommend this book!

  24. Hello,
The last book I’ve read is called Airman published in 2007 and written by Eoin Colfer. I’m going to introduce it to you :
In 1890, in the nation of Saltee Islands off the Irish coast, the young Conor Broekhart, born in a hot-air balloon and son of the king Nick’s bodyguard, spends his days studying flight and fencing and exploring the castle with the king’s daughter, Princess Isabella. But his life changes when he discovers a deadly conspiracy against the king. When Conor tries to intervene, he is framed as a traitor and thrown on the prison island of Little Saltee. He passes desperate, solitar years by scratching drawings of flying machines on the prison walls, until a day when he decides to trust his draws and designs and take to the skies.
I really liked to read this historical adventure novel, the hero is a fighter and an intellectual, who wants to get revenge and to prove his innocence. It's a really interesting book, very easy to read, I recommend it.

  25. Hello everyone,

First of all, I really enjoy reading but because of school, I don’t have much time to read my own books. Obviously, I have many books to read for my French, English and German classes. The last book I read was David Copperfield by Charles Dickens for my English class.

David Copperfield is the story of a young man's adventures on his journey from an unhappy childhood to the discovery of a big and scary adult world. He gets to meet many different kinds of people such as his tyrannical stepfather, Mr. Murdstone, his brilliant school-friend, James Steerforth, his loving aunt, Betsey Trotwood, the beautiful Dora Spenlow and many more. In this book, you see the evolution of David Copperfield who starts as a fragile and naive young boy and whom life turns into a strong and loving man.

I really enjoyed this book because you really get to see David Copperfield growing up and learning about life. Even though he meets many unkind and dishonest people, David manages to become a kind and warm-hearted man.
I highly recommend this book especially as it is written by one of the most famous English writers.

  26. The last book I read and loved was "D'innombrables soleil" by Emmanuelle Pirotte. It is a novel about Christopher Marlowe, the most famous playwright and poet after Shakespeare. He died on 30 May 1593 after a battle, but circumstances suggest that Marlowe may have survived. Emmanuelle Pirotte's book begins by exploring this hypothesis.

Christopher Marlowe is taken in by his friend and former lover Walter after the battle. In his mansion, Christopher meets the wife of his host, Jane, and a rare passion is born between them. The book perfectly describes the bodies and minds that come together in a carnal and artistic impulse, as well as the love between two young people haunted by the time that remains.

I loved this reading for its tribute to the most fascinating literature and poet of Elizabethan England. Throughout the reading, I identified with Christopher for his mad passion, his marginal side, his insolence in the face of life and his art. One can only become attached to Jane and Christopher in their love story, immersed in their fiery intimacy under Walter's helpless gaze. It is a powerful novel about the part that each of us misses and that we think we find in our loved one. It has been an immense pleasure to read this book and I look forward to reading the other books by this incredible author and her sensitive and insolent pen.
