What do you think?

  1. It's a good idea even if, of course, everyone would have liked it to be closed even longer, until the end of the year in fact. The older ones will say it's because we're flaming, but I say it's because the French school system is unlogical. We have the heaviest school programs in the world, with days that are far too full of hours and little time for our personal activities, which plunges us into a daily routine of "métro-boulot-dodo". In addition to the pressure of the society towards adolescence, it is also present in education, with high rates of school phobia in France, leading to suicides in most cases. Review your school system, that's all we ask. And then, we will be really sad not to go to school, instead of wanting to burn it.

  2. On the one hand, it's a good idea because we will be less stressed for the tests but on the other hand, we need to do tests because we have never been in real exam conditions and for higher studies we will not be used to it so I think is not a good idea. However, we will not have the right to complain because it allows us to rest for the baccalaureate exams if they are maintained.

  3. Hello,
Schools are inevitably an outbreak of contamination, since the beginning of the pandemic. So, I am for closing schools, for three weeks for nursery and elementary schools, and for weeks for secondary and high schools. I think this measure is necessary to reduce the rate of contamination in France, all the more so since our country has closed its schools very little while education is much more impacted in other countries like United States and Italy.
About the advance of spring school holidays, I am a bit disappointed that holidays are so soon. Effectively, there are very few weeks of classes between the February and April holidays. So, even if it is only a week away, I feel like I don't deserve these holidays.
Obviously, it is more practical for the government that the whole country has holidays at the same time. Nevertheless, I think it was possible to have at least to weeks of classes (of course, by teleworking) before holidays.

  4. Hello !
First of all, as a student this announcement can be viewed either as good or bad.
Indeed it is a great thing that the president closed the schools because the spread of the virus was getting worse, as it was already really bad.
I hope that it will be efficient enough because I think that the president would be ready to extend it, and in my opinion, going to school is way better than doing remote learning.
That’s why this announcement can also be bad for some people. Everyone has to get organized in a few amount of time and this will be hard for some family and some students. Fortunately teleworking will only last 2 weeks (for now..) because the spring school holidays have been advanced for the whole country. To my mind, this is a good idea since it will prevent the virus from spreading more and more in closed areas.

  5. I think it must have been a difficult decision to make, and we really have to be in a serious situation for the president to decide to close the schools.
Then if it is for the good of the entire population, then it makes sense to do so.
But I hope that these distance classes will be better than those of the last closing of the schools, especially in French with the baccalaureate at the end of the year.

  6. I personally think that closing school was a necessary decision in order to reduce contaminations. It was in fact a place in which the virus was spreading a lot since most other places were closed. However, I do hope that we will indeed be returning to school in may because I feel it is necessary to prepare the eventual exams at the end of the year. On top of that, given that online school often leads to students being left to themselves in certain classes, I would like to return to school to be prepared in the best way possible for my studies next year. I would also like that because I tend to get distracted at home. Finally, I think that advancing spring break is a good decision for students to spend the less time possible studying by themselves: only 2 weeks instead of 4.

  7. I think it's a good decision. It shows that the situation is serious because according to our president the closing of schools should be the last thing to happen. It is a good thing because it allows the students to rest a bit (in order to prepare for the baccalaureate for example) and also to slow down the virus. To finish with, the fact that the schools are closed one week before the vacations is also a good thing because it allows the students to miss only two weeks of classes instead of four.

  8. To my mind, a new lockdown was essential.Indeed, the number of cases of covid 19 is increasing in many French regions. However, this decision is discouraging because it gives the impression that the pandemic is not slowing down.

  9. I think that taking advantage of the Easter holidays to close schools for a month and so missing only two weeks of lessons was a clever idea, as such decision had to be taken in order to reduce the Covid contamination rate. However, I don't understand why, during a more restrictive lockdown like the second one, they kept the scholls open, and now we have a lockdown that has almost nothing of a lockdown (because of the free movement 10 km around home) the schools are getting closed.

  10. Hello!
As far as I am concerned, I think the close of school was obvious. But I thought a bit because at first I was angry but I was asking myself if there was a reason to this choice of maintening school opened. So I don't want to blame the government for closing school only now because it's a very concern and difficult decision to take and announced. For instance, school closures impact not only students, teachers, and families. But have far-reaching economic and societal consequences. School closures in response to the pandemic have shed light on various social and economic issues, including student debt, digital learning, food insecurity, and homelessness, as well as access to childcare, health care, housing, internet, and disability services. The impact was more severe for disadvantaged children and their families, causing interrupted learning, compromised nutrition, childcare problems, and consequent economic cost to families who could not work.
    Thank you!

  11. I think that this is a step in the right direction. It is high time that we start taking COVID-19 again seriously and that we start closing public establishments, in order to reduce the spread of the virus. It is a shame that schools end up closing because of it, as it will hinder our learning capabilities, but it is a necessary measure for a better future. The spring break being advanced doesn't bother me much, although since it has only been 1 month since the previous break, I do admit that it feels weird to enter another break so suddenly. Nevertheless, closing schools is a great thing and a way to give more time to France for vaccines to be fully given out to everyone.

  12. Hello,
In my opinion, I appreciate having my spring break earlier because I am a home-loving and like my sister told me «this is an opportunity to work with independence» and I think she is right because soon we will be at university and we will have to work alone so this a good thing to acclimatize us to this new way of working. However, I know that the reasons why the spring break has been advanced is because of health situation and I hope than most people are going to be vaccinated to relive normally and back to school as soon as possible.

  13. In my opinion, the president made the right choice, there are many deaths and cases in France but also in the whole world. Indeed, the school is a place where the virus spreads a lot. Health is very important because without it, there is no population, no economy...

  14. In my opinion i think it is a good idea because like that all schools are closed at the same time. Thanks to the new rules the propagation of the virus slow down and we may back to school at the end of the spring break with less fear.

  15. As far as i am concerned, I think that on the one hand France is the country which has managed to keep schools open the longest, even during the hard times of the pandemic.
On the other side I think the country has been at a standstill for a year. Indeed, the virus still circulates strongly and I think that the closing of schools was nevertheless important to slow down this one. however this has been going on for a year.
it would be better if this school closures for three weeks is the last one...

  16. I think that we are in a vicious circle and that it will not stop, by dint of confining and deconfining, closing and opening schools, stores, restaurants etc, we are just going around in circles.
I think that if everyone is closing, it is logical that the schools also close, especially when there is a peak in contamination.
But for me the government is trying to do their best, and it's a very difficult time so every decision had to be very well analyzed before being made.

  18. Hello,
In my opinion,it's a good idea to stop the spreading of covid-19 because schools and students are the main transmitters of the virus.
But this closure of schools risks increasing the dropout rate, which means that like the first lockdown, this decision will have a negative impact in the school environment.

  19. In my opinion, they have given in after many requests from unions, teachers and students for the closure, I think it's good but we must not forget that the most important thing is the tests at the end of the school year and that they need to be adapted because some high schools are more unequal than others and that causes worries for the students who are going to take them and we should pay more attention to that.

  20. Hello.
I am aware this happened last month, I’d still like to comment on it. I don’t think this was a very wise decision considering the exams that await us. We have not had good preparation neither this year nor last year, to work accordingly and succeed in our exams.
I'm sure the government or at least our school could have found better ways to prepare us for this year, as I believe many teachers took for granted the Covid situation and bid on the belief that we would not have exams. Now that they realise, they think it's time to work. I think the month of April should have been used for students to prepare themselves for their exam and not as a “long holiday”. We’ve been on this “holiday” since November, with teachers giving us work here and there. I think we were not taken care of and the month of April is a perfect representation of how much importance the government holds for us.
I’m not blaming my issues nor anyone’s failure/success on the government for I believe success is undertaken by people’s own discipline. I just think it is not fair and not well thought.
