The first episode of the tenth season will be released 15th April on BBC One and I can't wait to see it online.
So... I basically love this show (like really) and I wonder if some of you know it, and if you do : what do you think about it ?

ReplyDeleteI'm sorry I never watched this series but it's very appreciated in Anglo-Saxon countries!
I am not a big fan of the series, but when I was little I loved more than anything Buffy against the Vampires, Prison Break or Charmed. Now I look much less but I love Daredevil (the universe Marvel in general) and Shadow Hunters. These are very different series (one is about super heroes and the other is much more fantastic), but their common point is that you don't get bored!
To conclude, I think the best series of all time are Charmed and Daredevil ...
Oh yeah, Buffy ! I used to watched it too, and Daredevil is quite a good series you are right. However I have to say I don't know Charmed, if you think it sur good I will have to try.

I think the best series who was ever created was "Ma famille d'abord"
It's an english series to but I watch it in french because I think if better to laugh.
The father who is the main character is called Micheal, we have the mother (Janet), the son (Junior) and the girls (Cady and Claire).
For me it's the best series ever created with "Malcom" An english series too.

Maybe I'm going to begin one day, could you tell me in which year the main part of the serie takes place? On the other hand, I don't watch series so often but I love "gossip girl" because of the characters and the main plot. Besides, I'm going to watch a new serie whose name is "13 reasons why", I watched the trailer and I loved it! By the way, I advise you to watch it also. Moreover, the serie is an American creation and I heard that Selena Gomez created it, that's why I'm really excited to discover the beginning in the following weeks.

ReplyDelete- I am sorry Coline but I don't really like this kind of series (doctor who, doctor house...). To my mind it is too boring to follow the life of a scientist or a doctor. As for me it is difficult to choose between different series so my top 3 is : "Desperate Housewives"(created by Marc Cherry), "Devious Maids" (also created by Cherry) and "Orange is the new black" by Jenji Kohan. I appreciate them because all women in each serie are just incredible and there are lots of action, plots and "rebounds". Moreover all these series are american, so when I watch it with subtitles in English it can really improve my language.

ReplyDeleteI spend a lot of time watching series ! I think I watch about one episode on every day of the school week, just before I sleep. Just like Clara, I watch it in english and nowadays I do not even need subtitles. Furthermore I think it is a great training for our exams. It surely is the most fun way to practice ! You learn vocabulary, idioms or even customs (for instance in Downtown Abbey you learn a lot about the relationships between the masters and the servants)
I do not watch Dr Who, because the plot does not seem very attracting to me. My top 5 is (not in order) Downtown Abbey, Game of thrones, Breaking bad, The Mentalist and Jane the Virgin. I almost finished all these 5, and the last episode always makes me sad... As you can see, I like different types of series : drama, comedy, crime or even telenovela !

ReplyDeleteWhen I was young , I always watched the serie Doctor Who and The Doctor was one of my favorite character with the girl who was always with him . Now , I don't watch it because , I prefer watching other series like game of thrones or riverdale .Nevertheless , I apreciate more fantastic series than others because I really like the magic stories and the adventure 's stories which , in the real life , don't exist . To conclude , In my opinion , there is a serie that appreciate a lot , called , Charmed. It is an old one but it still diffused on TV.

ReplyDeleteI think there is a little misunderstanding about the series. It is a SF show ! The Doctor is just the name the mane character gave to himself because he helps people, he isn't a really one !
I mean, yeah, there is science in the series but it is used to relate the facts. You know : time travel, that kind of thing...
Oh and if you like to see badass women in series there are some in Doctor Who (a lot actually).
I never watched "Desperate Housewives" but I did saw some episodes of "Orange is the new black" . Personally it's not really my kind of show but I understand who people like it.

My favorites are "the 100", "Quantico", "riverdale", "Bates Motel" (it is based on the characters of the famous movie "psycho" from Hitchcock, I really love this serie. Watching series is maybe the best way for a stranger to learn English when he has no one to talk to in English. It helps to become familiar with the accent and the language's expressions. It is important to watch the series in its original language with subtitles and when we know the episodes enough we can re-watch them without subtitles to see if we understand or not.
ReplyDeleteI don't know "Doctor Who" because I don't watch many series , I prefer movies because I don't get too addicted to them. But when I started to learn English I used to watch series like "Friends" or "How I met your mother" because they're not really hard to understand and the episodes don't last too long. They're not particularly smart but they are still entertaining. I assume my favorite series remains "Sherlock" because I find each episode really well made. The screenplays are unusual and the main character has a strong personality that I love!
As far as I'm concerned series are perfect to improve our English. Nevertheless we have to be careful of the series' effect that makes addicted to series.

ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I know this series but I don't follow it because I don't really enjoy this kind of television program. The only reason I know of it is because it's extremely popular in the UK and my family sometimes watches it. However from what I've watched, I have to say the best Doctor was the one played by David Tennant.
Secondly, I love series in general so I have more than one favourite one. Indeed, I like The Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, Teen wolf, The 100, Desperate Housewives and Friends. Moreover, at the moment I'm really into Grey's Anatomy and once I've finished this series I would like to start watching Riverdale because apparently it's really good !

I have watched a lot of series as The Simpsons, Malcolm or Death Note. But my favorites series are still The Walking Dead because I love series with apocalyptic world as this serie with zombies, and also Narcos, a serie about Pablo Escorbar, the king of drug's cartel of cocaine. In this story, characters are so charismatic when they speak spanish, with Pablo Escobar's most famous quote : "plata o plomo" which means money or lead.

First watching series of movies is a way to escape from reality or issues or simply life or identify yourself to the characters . It's even better to see it English because the French voices that they put are horrible and it's a good way to improve your accent English that's the way I learned English.

I like a new series American horror story The Walking Dead or but I also like to watch old series like prison break or married with children maybe no one knows this one but in general I like to watch series or movies that tells us something that has a message like bullying for example ;but I also like to watch funny series that are simple.

ReplyDeleteI ever saw a few episodes of this serie, and I really liked it because of its fantastics plot and its suspens. I also have friends who really like it.
To my mind, the best serie is certainly Game of Thrones. It's really emotional because when you begin to like a character he dies. But I love it for its story too and because each episode follows the one before and announce the next one (it's not like in Doctor Who).
I would also add that I don't know a lot of person who don't like it so I recommend it to you. And with this serie I understand better English because the characters speak an elaborate English with old words.

Even if I liked "Desperate housewifes" and "Clem". The first one allowed me to understand better American women and I had a lot of fun following all that happened to Clem as she was facing a hard situation : having a baby being a young teenager !

ReplyDeleteI am a hudge fan of series but never heard about "Doctor WHO". I watch so much serie since I am a baby (I still love teletubies by the way). I will not be able to tell you all of my favourite series because there is not enough space on the comment section but I am currently re-watching Pretty Little Liars and it is so good, I have planed to re-watch Hannah Montana (do not judge me) and Glee. I am currently watching Jane the Virgin, Riverdale (probably my favourite for the moment), The Fosters. I am going to start Game of Thrones because everyone is watching it and I feel like an outsider, I am still a fan of Grey's Anatomy, I am waiting for the new episode of Stranger Things and Scream Queens. As I think every girl in the world, I am planning to start to watch 13 reasons why.

Indeed I watch my series on Netflix, it is a big american website where you can watch series in streaming. Recently I discoverded a new serie call "13 Reasons Why" and it was a very good suprise because I thought that it was one of this series for teenager not very interresting but in fact not at all. This serie talk about a girl with problem in school from and explain at them why she took her a own life . I think that is a very sery serious subject and we have (pupils and teacher) talk more about that because our life are precious.

Hello coline, I know Doctor Who and I appreciate to fianlly find someone who know this show, because it is sadly unpopular in France, that’s the reason why the most of people in the comments never heard of it.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I am fond of Doctor Who, and i could watch all the episodes again and again without get bored any time. To me it is an iconic show.
First, i really love the story, even if the travel in time and space is a difficult thing to treat, it allows us to discover new worlds and spices in each episodes, which doesn’t exist in real life, like the planet gallifrey, or the daleks, an alien race. Moreover, it shows us a representation of our future, the most of the time really sad and depaved. It make us questioning about how Humans will evolute, and if the decisions and the things that we do will have good consequences for us and for the planet, in the future.
Then, the characters are interesting because the most of them are developed, even a character who appears only for one episode. That’s the reason why we feel empathy when they are sad, or in trouble, we know their past and the things they have been through, and we want them to success.
However, I don’t only watch Doctor Who, I also watch a lot of other series, which are finished, like Friends or Charmed, or which are still in progress like 3% or Game of thrones.
