TPE

Hello everyone,
Today we (1S, ES and L students) sat our exam, a part of the baccalauréat; TPE. It is an oral presentation with teachers who listen to us and mark us. So this morning I sat mine and we did good even if we were unable to answer every question.: How did you manage? what were your feelings about this first part of the baccalaureat?  Did the teachers ask you very specific questions? Tell us about  your experience. Can Julien and Amaury share their experience too?

  1. Hi everyone !
    Yesterday we were all a little bit stressed because of the TPE. It's an exam in 1ère and it helps pupils to work alone and in groups so it develops good behavior for the future. Moreover, we had to present an oral in front of two teachers. As for me, the oral presentation was great, in fact we passed the first part easily. However, concerning the second part, it was very hard to answer every questions. The demands were specifics in each subject, they were based on last year's program so it was difficult to remember sometimes.
    Nevertheless, with my group ( which is composed of Clara and Eve ) we answered nearly every questions and I talked as much as the others.
    To conclude, as far as I am concerned, the demands could be based only on our program and not on the other years before ... I'd like to point out that we can't learn our program, our presentation and the last year program for the same day unless the teachers tell us before.

  2. Hello !

    - To begin with, the TPE is a group experience of several months in order to produce a file in response to a problem related to the scientific or literary subject according to your section.
    - As for me, I was with Eve and Lena, and during all these months it was plaisant to work together. Our subject was "the helium" and it was very interesting to learn new things about this hilarous gas. Concerning our oral presentation it was good, even if we were stressed but the questions of teachers were quite difficult. Moreover we did an experience in front of them and they appreciated so I am optimist concerning our marks. But I don't realise that it is for our Baccalaureat and I hope to have a great mark before all the others exam to obtain lots of points.

  3. Hi everyone,
    Last Thursday, we all set out our TPE oral presentation. Some of us have done better than others but I wish that you didn't fully fail.
    As far as I'm concerned, I was not stressful at all and I would rather say that I felt quite comfortable. Emilie and Sky, with whom I realized the TPE, were also relaxed and to tell the truth, we did quite a good job ! (until teachers started to ask us questions). My impression about this part was very negative because I was not as proud of us as I would have liked to be. What I mean is that I felt quite ridiculous in front of these intimidating professors that actually didn't really care about our work.
    Regardless, I strongly hope that, in spite of everything, we will have a good mark because we spent a lot of time to complete successfully this project.

  4. TPE is supposed to train us to work in groups over a long time period. It can be very interesting when we work on a subject that really attracts us but sometimes it also turns out to be hard to work with other persons who don't always share our point of view.

    After working on this project for months I had no desire to work on it again when I gave back the written even if it was a quite interesting subject. We did or best to find the best arguments for the oral to convince the jury and to prove them we knew what we were talking about. I assume teachers gave them roles for the oral because it was always the same person who was trying to undermine us while the others only asked simple questions. We did our best even if I am not sure we really convinced them.

    It was a nice work which allowed me to meet other people. I discovered how it really is to work in a group. From my point of view it's very important because a lot of jobs include group work.

  5. I went with Coline and Sarah at 2pm. The teacher of SVT kindly welcomed us. Overall the oral performance went very well, although it was impossible to know what they thought. The physics chemistry professor finds that our TPE lacked physics, which surprised me a little: our teachers never spoke to us of this defect. Like everyone else, questions were the most difficult part, and very very specific. We will see for the mark that I think rather good.

  6. hello everyone,
    We passed our TPE last week and with my group we managed well I hope. The presentation last about 15 minutes which is good but the teachers said that there was not enough biology in our presentation which I totally agree with. we spoke about the ice and its features and the only biologic part was the opening where we spoke about the environment and the impact of global warming on the icebergs. They asked very pointed questions and we succeeded to answer to almost all of them.
    I feel a little bit nervous about it because it is our first bac test and I cannot wait to see our result in june/july.

  7. Hi Mathieu,
    To begin with, the TPE is a baccalaureat paper, so as for me, I was a bit stressed before the exam. Then, my group was composed of Lena and Clara who are my friends so we all agreed about our subject : "l'Helium", and it was good to work with them.
    Concerning the oral presentation, the three of us remembered what we had to say and we did an experience with a balloon full of Helium.
    However, after the oral presentation the two teachers asked us a lot of questions about all the program in science so it was hard to answer but we did the best we could !
    I hope we will have a great mark because we worked a lot for the TPE.

  8. Hi everyone !
    To start with, I worked with Emilie and Marie, for about six months, on deodorants. I found this subject really interesting since it's a product we use everyday without really knowing how it affects our body.
    Furthermore, like Marie said, the first part of our oral presentation went really well which was a relief. However the second part was more complicated. Indeed, we were asked quite unexpected and very specific questions which we had trouble answering. This made us seem like we didn't know what we were talking about, which obviously wasn't the case.
    I would also like to add that the teachers could of showed a little more interest in our project because during our presentation one of the teachers wasn't at all paying attention to us, instead she was looking out the window !
    All in all, even though this oral exam could of gone better, we did our best and I do think we will have a good mark. For me, this project was a success and I enjoyed working on it with Emilie and Marie.

    I did my TPE with Salomé and Claire. As far as I am concerned, I found that the two teachers were really interested about our subjet. They actually smiled and nodded during our presentation, and it made me too confident.
    However, I soon became rather disappointed of myself: they asked very difficult questions, and none of them had the slightless link with our subject. I have to admit that I do not thnik we answered everything the way these teachers wished, but they did said that, over all, our presentation and our subject was good.

    Last week, we were all a little bit stressed because of the TPE. It's an exam in 1ère and it helps pupils to work in group . Moreover, we had to present an oral in front of two teachers. As for me, the oral presentation was nice, but the teachers cut me off when I was not finished. However, concerning the second part, it was very hard to answer every questions because there were not about the subject..
    But TPE was very interesting and help us to work in group .

  11. I liked working on the tpe because the subject we choose was really interesting in my opinion (we studied the scientific part of the music). Teachers who made jury didn't ask any questions about the music but a lot about science (the part of the brain which is involved in the music ...). Furthermore, questions were nominative, which mean that questions were asking to one person of the group and we couldn't answer it. The fourth member of the group (Ryan) has been asking questions which he couldn't answer (because he didn't work a lot). That was uncomfortable because I couldn't answer it ans I knew answer. Anyway, this first part of the bac was interesting.

    First of all, I did the TPE with Alyson and we worked a lot on it. I was a little bit stressed but finally we did a great oral presentation. However, it was a little bit difficult to answer the teacher's questions. Indeed, it was not linked to our subject so I am a bit disapointed. I hope it won't penalize us a lot because we spent a lot of time working on it.

    My TPE talked about how the record of 100 m in athletism had progressed from 1991 nto our days.
    It was easy to found informations because I have practiced the sport for five years.I have worked on yet with Julian and Enzo .As for me, the oral presentation was great and so we used just 15 minutes for presenting our work so the first part was achieved. However, I didn't like the teachers they both were so easily distracted and they had not been reactive at all .At the end, I was a little bit disappointed but at least, I think we came through all.

Well first I'm going to introduce myself I'm in 1 ère L so I had French,science and physical and chemistry then after that I had my oral of TPE , so you all guessed what my holidays looked like.Basically I spend my days studying it was horrible and then I stayed at school with my partners to work on our TPE we are 4 in my group but one of us hasn't done anything we all have that person I know but he didn't even knew the subject of it and 2 days before the oral he came without knowing his part and we were really scared anyways it's a personal mark at the end so let's hope we'll have a good mark.For the French and sciences I really don't what to think about it but no matter what it will be I will learn from the mistakes I've made in it even though I'm still scared of my teacher's reaction.

  15. Hi everyone
    My experience with Lauriana (who is blind) was very rewarding. Because i had to learn how work with a blind person. We did a historical book so I was in charge of historical research and her responsible for writing the book (I also help her to writing the book). Therefore it was a good experience.
    But let's talk about the oral. I was a little stressed but it was OK. In front of us there was an history teacher, a women from the CDI and a french teacher (she was a stern face). Sometimes they ask us some off-topic questons which perturb us.
    To conclude TPE was a great experience

We were very tough with my group of TPE, but in the end it went well, the questions of the teachers were still hard and we had not very well organized at the time because I failed to To finish saying what I had to say because one of my friends had spoken too much, but we were still happy with us and happy that the TPE is finished. It still remains a good experience.

    We all did our TPE one month ago. It has to do with an oral presentation on the topic we chose, with Julian and Matthew, We needed half a year to do the job : we decided to delve into the musical harmony from a scientific aspect.
    I found we managed rather well and I consider we deserved a good mark. Nevertheless, I must admit we only answered three quarter of the questions we were addressed during the questions'part.

    I did my TPE with Anais and we worked about the sociology in Disney movies, I found this subject really interesting and I hope we will have a good mark!
    Before the oral presentation, I was stressed because I am extremely shy but finally it was a good experience.
    However the teachers asked us difficults questions like Anais said.
    I hope it was a great experience for all of you!

  19. Hello everyone,
    In the ES classes, our work had to be a mixe of history and social or economic science. Because my group was composed of 4 girls with complitly different fashion tastes and that we 4 wanted to talk about women/men inequalities, we ended up working on how the society determins the feminin clothes. I have to say that it was very complicated fo me to work with 3 other girls with divergent opinion and that I didn't knew that much, I realised at the end that some of us worked more that others and that some were out of the subjects. For the oral part, we axed our reflection on the women's clothes on a "tiny society", clother to us: High School. I realised a video with some of my friends on it were I asked question about what they thought of women's accoutrement. Because I am very shy, and stressed I forgot to say the half of my text to the jury. When it was the time to answer the question I was pratically the only one speaking because the others didn't really learned the subject. However, this was a good experiment and I learnt a lot of things like that I can't work in group.
