Australia is a continent and it is also a country of its own. Australia is located between the South Pacific and Indian Oceans. Australia is often called, "the land down under," because it lies entirely within the southern hemisphere. The official name of the country is "the Commonwealth of Australia." Australia is surrounded by water like an island, but geographers classify it as a continent rather than an island because of its great size. At one time, all the continents were part of one huge land mass. Australia became separated from this landmass about 200 million years ago.
Now Australia is composed of many territories like VIctoria, who his area is known as the home of many Aboriginal people groups. This state was named after Queen Victoria, who had been on the British throne for 14 years when the colony was established in 1851. Until 1851 the area was part of New South Wales, then from 1851 until 1901 it was the Colony of Victoria, with its own government within the British Empire. In 1901 it became a state of the new Commonwealth of Australia.
To sum up, i would like to visit Australia particularly Victoria because there is a lot of history that i would like to know and also that can improve by cultural knowledge.
So, we did a lot of research this last month about a continent which is also a country: Australia. It’s a large island between the Indian Ocean and the Southern Pacific Ocean.
The capital city is Canberra but the largest city is Sydney. Australia is a member of the British Commonwealth (it's all the former countries which were colonized by the British Empire and most of them are now independent. However, 15 countries are still a part of the Kingdom).
Today, Australia is separated in many territories: New south wales, South Australia, Western Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland and Victoria.
I would like to go so bad in Australia, it is my dream to see this country with all the animals, the desert, meeting new people, learning new culture, see the Opera of Sydney…
Australia is a large island between the Indian Ocean and Southern Pacific Ocean which is both a country and a continent. The capital is Canberra. Its larger city is Sydney closely followed by Melbourne. Australia is a member of the British Commonwealth. The country is divided into six big state : Western Australia, Northern Territory, Victoria, South Australia, New South wales, Queensland and besides the island state of Tasmania to the South of the continent. There are about 24 481 528 inhabitants across the country. I'm going to tell you what I learn about this country and if I would like to visit it.
First, Australia was discovered by Captain Cook in 1770. He was a sailor and an explorer. He corners two thirds of Australia for Britain. Next to the discovering, he declared in a report in London that Australia was unoccupied. Therefore British makes it as a penal colony. Actually, the island was occupied by Aborigines for nearly 50 000 years. They were the first people who lives in Australia. It's an ethnic group who has primitive material culture and a complex social system with totemic worship. Totem represents animals, objects,... Unfortunately, European deseases, alcohol and colonial expansion (which creates a lot of resistance on the side of Aborigines) killed much of them. In 2006, 50% of Aborigines live in Australia society and in 2016 they represent 3% of total Australian population. After the discovering, European began to settle permantely in 1826. I'm going to tell you an example of what happened in a state of Australia after the discovering. In Western Australia was the first British colony based in King George Sound created in 1826 (which is now the city of Albany). In 1829, a second colony is created : Swan River Colony by British and Irish settlers on the Swan river. The swan is a symbol of the state, we can see it on the flag of Western Australia. In 1832, there were 1 500 settlers in the two village which were developed around Fermantle (a port city) and Perth (the capital of Western Australia). In 1887, there was a proposition of a new constitution which allowed the Right of self-governance. United Kingdom House of Commons accepted it in 1890 and John Forrest became the first prime minister of the state. In 1890, gold was discovered near to Kalgoorlie. In 1896, the Golfields Water Supply Scheme, a pipeline to convey water in the gold fields of the state and in the colonies, was built. It was a factor of population increase and economic growth. In January first, 1901, this is the official creation of the state. After, the declaration of independance of Australia in 1900, there was a migration scheme to promote farmers settle in south-west and also to reduce dependance on food imports from interstate : The Group Settlement Scheme in 1920.
Finally, I think that I would like to visit this country because it seems to be a beautiful island with a lot of things to do like visiting Sydney and I think there are also a lot of things to learn about the culture of the country.
Sorry, I made some mistakes : "its largest" instead of "its larger", "six big states" instead of "six big state", "what I have leart" instead of "what I learn", "he took two third" instead of "he corners two thirds" and "after discovering" instead of "after the discovering".
Hi everyone! First of all, in 1ere, I have worked on Australia for an oral presentation with some friends, especially on South Australia, its culture, landscapes, and dishes.
Furthermore, as far as I am concerned I would like to visit this country because it could be interesting to discover new ways of life, well-beings. Australian are supposed to be kind and pleasant. During my schooling, I learnt that Kangaroos live only in Australia because of a great environment of nature and fresh supplies. On the other hand, I heard about the Sydney Opera House, one of the famous monuments in this country, perhaps the most important one. Moreover, Australia is a member of the commonwealth, which is an English organization. Indeed, the queen of England is also the queen of Australia. Besides, we can talk about the geography of the country, indeed Australia is one of the biggest country in the world although there are only 21 million of inhabitants. Its lakes, landscapes and the Great Barrier Reef are well-known in the whole world. As for me, Australia can be a wonderful destination for holidays and I would like to go there. If I had the opportunity of discovering this country, I would leave France simultaneously. Indeed, nature and wild animals make me curious.
All in all, I would like to visit this country because according to what I have learnt, it seems to be a beautiful country and the inhabitants could be very interesting. Lena Szepetowski TS2
- Last year, I did a presentation in class about south Australia so I remembered some important informations. In fact Australia is a fabulous country with an etraordinary culture and civilisation.
- To begin with, Australia is bordered to the west by the Indian Ocean, and to the east by the South Pacific Ocean. This country has a multicultural population practising almost every religion and lifestyle. There are lot of beaches and the weather is always warm. Moreover, everybody kwow the famous animal called : the Kangaroo and I hope one day I will meet one of them.
- As far as I am concerned, I would like to visit this country, because this kind of atmosphere makes me happy. But maybe later because it is very far so that we have to stay there one entire month. - Finally, I would like to visit also Tasmania because it's the most beautiful place in the world.
During some days, we have worked on Australia as a contry and as a continent. Australia's history is really interesting and rewarding. We don't talk a lot but she have to be learn.
On the one hand, Australia is a large island between the Indian ocean and the Southern Pacific ocean. The continent makes up the Commonwealth of Australia so it's a federal parliamentary state. The capital is Canberra, it's largest city is Sydney and it's closely followed by Melbourne. Australia is a member of the British Commonwealth which is composed of 53 countries, whose Malta for exemple.
The country is divided into six big states : Western Australia; Northern Territory; Victoria; South Australia; New South Wales and Queens Land. For my part, I've worked on the Northern Territory mainly. The Northern Territory is an Australia's territory which takes up an important part of the centre and of the north to the main island. In spite of his large size, he is sparsely populated 250 000 inhabitants. Darwin, the capital, and Palmerston contitute the principal urban area of the Northern Territory but the orthers main cities are Alice Spring and Katherine. The Northern Territory's inhabitants are called «Territoriaux». But before continuing, making a leap in the past. Aborigene have lived in the present area of the Northern Territory and an extensive seasonal trade links existed between them and the people of what is now Indonsia. The Northern Territory was a part of colonial New South Wales from eighteen twenty-five to eighteen sixty-tree. The first January nineteen eleven, one decade after Australia was became a federal stata, the Northern Territory was separated from the South Australia and transfered to Commonwealth control. In nineteen seventy-eight, the Northern Territory adopted a responsable government with a legislative asssembly guide by a head ministry. The Northern Territory's economie is based on tourisme but is largely outshines by mining and oil production; for the political's aspect, the Northern Territory have a legislative assembly but she acts by delegation of federal governement's power and not by constitutional rights. The Northern Territory have two climatic areas distincts : tropical and arid climate depending on the geographic area location.
Personally, Australia is a country and a continent really attractive for my that I would like to visit. It's now a goal to embody.
We learn a lot of things about Australia. First, Australia is the biggest island. It is composed of 6 regions, New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia, Nothern Territories, South Australia and Queensland. Its capital is Canberra but the most famous city is Sidney, with its emblematic « Sidney Symphonic Orchestra ». Australia is part of The British commonwealth because it was a British colony. The first European who find Australia was a Dutch navigator, Wilem Janszoon in 1606. Nevertheless, the most famous expedition was in 1770 by The Royal Navy. James Cook arrived in the Eastern South of Australia the 17th of April 1770. During 50 000 years, Aborigines lived in Australia. In the 18th century, British arrived and began to colonize Australia. In 1788, British created a prison camp in Sidney. Australia began to be a penal colony. Aborigines started to die because of European sickness, alcohol and colonial expansion. The king George III wanted to talk with Aborigines before occupying Australia but Cook occupied 2/3 of Australia without the king’s permission, this led to a lot violence in between the Aborigines and the British soldiers. In ad, British gouvernent was interested in Australia because they found gold.
Aborigines culture is rich and the oldest in the world. The reason of this diversity is due to the fact that there is more than one hundred Aborigines’ tribes in the whole country and each tribe has its own language and laws. Nowadays, aborigines’ beliefs and culture are in danger because they represent only 3% of Australia population while they were the native residents of this land.
I wish I could go to Australia one day in order to discover this great land and Aborigines traditions before they totally disappear and meat aborigines.
Hello everyone ! In class we have studied few points about Autralia. We learnt about Australia's History, geography and economy. First of all Australia is between Indian Ocean and Southern Pacific Ocean. Australia was colonized by the Dutch and the English settlers during the 18th century. Moreover, Australia was discovered by James Cook in 1770. Before the colonization, Aborigines lived there with their own culture, religion and ceremonial rites. Nowadays, Australia is independent and it's a rich and developed country. Indeed, Australia is divide in six state: the biggest one and the most populated is Western Australia. So, the economy is based on tourism, mining and agriculture. Australia has many ports and resources, that's why the country is the second largest iron producer in the world. As far as I'm concerded I would like to go to Australia because landscapes look beautiful. goodbye, Susie, (130 words)

Hello, We did an oral, our subject was "South-Australia", that's why I learned a lot of things about this state. I learned South Australia's localisation : in the South Central part of Australia. There is too 1.7 inhabitants in this state, this is a large state which covers a lot of arids parts of the country. The capital state : Adelaide is localised in South-Australia. This is too a beautiful place that's why it is a touristic place : beautiful cities, forests and beaches. Ewan Lagain 1S5
For 60 000 years before the first British settlement in the 18th century, Australia was inhabited by indigenous Australians. Indigenous Australians have an oral culture with spiritual values based on reverence for the land.
In 1606 was Australia discoverd by Dutch explorers. In 1770, Great Britain claimed Australia's eastern half and in 1788, settled penal transportation to the colony of New South Wales. In 1788 were approximatly 1 000 000 indigenous, but thousands more indigenous died as a result of frontier conflict with settlers and infectious disease. In 1869 appeard a law about Aboriginal Protection. The six colonies federated, forming the Commonwealth of Australia from 1901.
Nowadays, Australia has still maitntained a stable liberal democratic political system. Australia officially the Commonwealth of Australia, is a country comprising Tasmania’s island and numerous smaller islands. It is the largest country in Oceania with 25 million inhabitants. The capital of Australia is Canberra, and its largest city is Sydney. Australia comprises six states with : Western Australia, Northern territory, Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria. Actually, it has the 13th largest economy in the world and and the tenth highest income per capita. It's a member of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
I would like to travel to Australia in order to see the beautiful landscapes, some animals that we have never seen in Europe. I also would like to see Indigenous just as their lifestyle.
Australia was populated for a very long time first by the Aborigines. In 1770, the eastern half of the island was officially claimed by Britain and in 1788, British colonization began with the establishment of a prison camp in Sydney. Other settlements were founded in the nineteenth century, as the population grew and new territories were explored. On January 1, 1901, Australia will be called Commonwealth of Australia. Australia has seen many wars for the nation and participated to a lesser extent in the Second World War. The post-war period was a time of grace for Australia with a multicultural immigration policy.
Since independence, Australia has been a liberal democracy and remains a parliamentary monarchy. Australia, in addition to being a country, represents the majority of the Oceanian continent whose national language is English and the currency is the Australian dollar. Its capital is Canberra. Its population is concentrated in the major cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. It is the twelfth largest economy in the world in 2012 and since 2000, Australia is second most developed country in the world. The kangaroo is the national animal and January 26 is the day of the Australian national day
For my part, I find that Australia is a country very attractive because of its culture, its traditions, its monuments, the landscapes as well as the numerous animals which are there but being a very big arachnophobe ... that does not give me too much want to go knowing all that one can find as a type of spider. But if there is an opportunity, I will not miss it!
Hi everyone!!! Australia it's a beautiful island. For about 60,000 years before the first British settlement in the late 18th century, Australia was inhabited by indigenous Australians. I tallk about the Northern territory, it's a federal Australian territory in the central and central northern regions of Australia. To the north, the territory is bordered by the Timor sea, the Arafura ansd the Gulf of Carpeentaria. The Northen Territory's population of 244.000 (2016) makes it the least populous of Australia's eight major states and territories, having fewer than half as many people as Tasmania. I would visit this city! Betti 1ES1
These past few weeks we have been working on Australia which is a huge island between the Indian Ocean and the South Pacific Ocean. Australia is not only a country but also a continent. At first we studied the history of this country, so we know that the continent makes up the Commonwealth of Australia so it's a federal parliamentary state. The capital is Camberra and the largest city is Sydney. Australia is a member of the British Commonwealth which is composed of 53 countries (Bahamas, South Africa, Malta ...). Also we know that Australia used to have origins in the UK. And it was in 1770 that Australia was discovered by James Cook. We also know that the people who lived in Autralia at the origins are the Aborigines.
Today Australia is divided into six big states: Western Australia, Northerm Territory, Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales and Queensland. For my part I had worked on Western Australia, what I learned from this is that this state is the largest in Australia, its capital Perth is a very famous and dynamic city where many activities are proposed to us . There are also many islands bordered by beautiful beaches like Rottnest Island. To conclude I enjoyed working on Australia, discovering its history, culture and landscapes. For my part I hope to visit this country one day, to discover even more and see the great city of Sydney or meet the kangaroos, koala or the wonderful islands.
Discovered by James cook in 1770, Australia is a large island between the Indian and the Pacific ocean divided into six big states : Western Australia, Nothern Territory, Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales and Queen’s Land. It’s capital is Camberra, the city where the federal parliament is situed since 1927, and it is one of the 53 members of the British commonwealth, an intergovernmental organisation whose all the members are countries which were once colonised by the British empire. Although Australia is not a colony anymore, the continent still have close connection with the UK, and this is what the Australian flag represent by the Uninon Jack in it’s canton and the Commonwealth star in the lower hoist quarter.
But let’s talk more precisely about Victoria, a state in south-eastern with for capital Melbourne. Divided into three main groups and subdivided into 34 subgroups with their own laws, customs, language and territory, Aborigines were originally living in Victoria for about 40.000 years. When they didn’t hunting or farming eels to feed themselves, they met in large gathering for gifts giving, lartering and practicing religious ceremonies around lake and stone buildings which developed a rich religious culture based on a intimate relationship with the land and the elements. That is why nowadays, the Aboriginal heritage is very precious and attract tourists of all over the world. However these culture disappeared to become only a trace of an ancient civilisation because of the discovery of Australia by James Cook who, after decimated a part of the population by bringing European diseases, dispossessed the aborigines of their lands by making Victoria a part of the New South Wales, a britain colony, in 1788. The Aborigines suffered of these European expansion. Indeed, they were forced to convert to Christianity and were starving to death because of the lack of cultivation. It led to a Guerrilla war from 1830 to 1840 which intensified in the later years with the massacres of Aboriginal people, and that until the state become a member of the Commonwealth in 1901.
To finish I would like to visit Australia, whenther it is for the beautiful landscapes by example The Victorian alps or for the tropical climate which is very pleasant when we do an activity like hiking or surfing, or just to sunbathing. But also to learn more about the Aborigines culture which is extremely rich and full of mistery.
I learned that there are differents states in Autralia. Actually it is a federation of 6 states ! I was also very interested by Australia’s history and mainly by the history of Aboriginal Australians who arrived on there by sea between 40,000 and 70,000 years ago . The artistic, musical and spiritual traditions they established are among the longest surviving such traditions in human history !
During our English course some students made presentation with beautiful photographs of mountains but also pictures showing the sea. Therefore, I could see that Australia is a wonderful country with a pleasant climate. Since these presentation sessions, I would like to visit this country. I am wondering also whether I would not like to live there ! Or why not having a student experience there when I can?
Firstly, the smallest continent and one of the largest countries on Earth, lying between the Pacific and Indian oceans in the Southern Hemisphere. Australia’s capital is Canberra located in the southeast between the larger and more important economic and culturel centres of Sydney and Melbourne. Besides, Australia is also called the Commonwealth of Australia, it’s a federal Parliamentary state. In fact Australia is a member of the British Commonwealth “which” is composed of 53 countries; most of them are independent.
Secondly, 50000 years ago, the first settlers in Australia, at the origin are called Aborigines. Aborigines have a nickname “Abo”; they have different cultures and heritages like Rock Art. Rock Art is one of aspects of Aboriginal heritage. In fact, in Australia, today Aborigines always practises Rock Art to represent spirits, animals or symbolic moments, they represented elements are of often crowned and respected by them.
Then, after the European discovery of the continent by Dutch explorers in 1606, Australia’s eastern half was claimed by Captain Cook for the British and initially settled through penal transportation to the colony of New South Wales from 26 January 1788. In fact, a first fleet of British Ships arrived at Botany Bay in January 1788 to establish a penal colony. In the century that followed, the British established other colonies on the continent and European explorers adventures into it’s interior.
Furthermore , Australia is divided into six big states; these big states are created during the great age of exploration (1801-1899):
Western Australia : his capital is Perth and he was created on 1829. New South Wales : his capital is Sydney, a famous city know by everyone in the world; Northern Territory : his capital is Darwin Victoria : his capital is Melbourne South Australia : his capital is Adelaide Queensland: It’s a large state situated on the Northeast of Australia, his capital is Brisbane . Queensland is famous thinks to her landscapes and Monuments, like Island Fraser. She is off the east coast of Queensland. It is the biggest sable island to the world and extinct over 120 km. It’s a destination appreciated for camping and ecotourism with beaches and site of bathing as the lake MC Kenzie or the lake Wabby. Queensland Gallery of Modern Art, is a great monument. She is also known under the acronym G.O.M.A, is an Australian museum situated to South Brisbane. The museum of modern art concentrates on the art of the twenty and twenty one countries.
To conclude, I would like to visit Australia because today this state is a confident nation that simultaneously embraces it’s historic nations symbols, it’s wealth cultural and it’s magnificent landscapes while welcoming people from all over the world.
To begin with, Australia was discovered by James Cook in 1770 aboard his Royal Navy.
James Cook was a British navigator, explorer and cartographer, born November 7, 1728 in Marton and died on February 14, 1779 in Hawaii.
Acceding to the rank of captain of the Royal Navy, he made three trips to the Pacific Ocean where he was the first European to land on the east coast of Australia, in New Caledonia, at the Sandwich Islands. South and Hawaii. He was also the first navigator to tour Antarctica and map Newfoundland and New Zealand.
Okay, let's move on...
First, Australia is located in Oceania in the southern hemisphere. It's one of the most isolated areas of the planet.
In addition, it is a gigantic island to which are added thousands of secondary islands, the best known is still home to some specimens of Tasmanian devils. Australia's geography, climate, and organization make it almost a continent all by itself.
Finally, Australia is one of the most dangerous continents in the world but also one with the most diversity of flowers and animals ...
The states that make up Australia are: Western Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia, New South Wales and Victoria.
The most famous cities of Australia are: Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide. However, as some people think, Sydney isn't the capital of Australia. The capital is called Canberra. Canberra is located at the southern end of "Capital Territory" and north-east of Melbourne. It shelters only 300,000 inhabitants against, approximately, 5,000,000 for Sydney.
Okay, let's move on ...
Do I want to go there? With great pleasure ! It's one of the continents that makes me the most envy thanks to the exotic animals that can have Australia: the lazy, the kangaroo ... So, if one day, I have to go, I promise to bring you beautiful pictures of me and his animals.
Hello everyone During these weeks we talked about Australia in class, what it contains, are history and they are these continents. First, Australia was discovered by Captain Cook in 1770. Australia is a large island that is between the Indian Ocean and the Southern Pacific Ocean. The largest known city of Australia is Sydney as many among us we can believe that it is capital whereas no, the capital of Australia is called Canberra. This large island is made up of 6 regions: Victoria, New South Wales, Nothern Territories, South Australia, Western Australia and Queensland. Australia is a member of the British Commonwealth.
For the courses we had to do a research on one of the regions and the one I had was Victoria, so I'm going to talk about this region. Victoria State is located in the southeast of the main island of Australia and the smallest Australian continental state, its capital is Melbourne which is home to over 70% of the state's population. It is also the most urbanized and the most densely populated. It has a rather varied climate, a transition between humid subtropical influences in the east, oceanic in the south (Tasmania), Mediterranean in the west, and semi-arid in the north. Initially, in the 1830s, the region was a farming area and after the discovery of gold in 1851 it will become an important industrial and commercial center. The Victoria is Australia's second largest economy, just over 222 billion Australian dollars. In the city center is the Casino Royal, the zoo, the museum, the aquarium, the surrounding area, the wharves being transformed into a new business, Southbank and St Kilda, tourist areas but also the City of Arts, the National Gallery of Victoria, Federation Square.Hello to all During these weeks we talked about Australia in class, what it contains, are history and they are these continents. Australia is a country and an ancient English colony located in oceania and situated in the southern hemisphere. Initialy this island was populated by the aboriginals. Then europeans come and colonized this country at the end of the 18th century(1770). This land is composed by six states and three mainland territories. These countries belong to the Commonevealh. I learn that the aboriginals lost all their lands and were exterminated. They had to wait the 20th century to have to acquire the right to vote and theirs ancestral lands. In nowadays Australia is independant from England and has pact with United States and New-Zeland. I would like to visit Australia. Because it is very very large country where you can find a lot of beaches and abo mountains. The great barrier reef is long as 2000 kilometers. In this location live lots of fishes and animals and it would be very interesting to meet them. Also Sydney and Melbourne are towns I would like to visited and first the Sydney open house.
Hello, in my last post I made some mistakes: «We worked on Australia», «as a country and as a continent» then «it isn't talked about much, but we must study it» Thank You Marcia, 1ES1
Hi everyone! We learnt a lot of things about Australia. First of all, Australia is a continent and a country, it’s a large island between the Indian ocean and the Pacific ocean. Its capital is Camberra and its largest city is Sydney. Camberra is located in one of the six states of the country : New South Wales, near the south east coast. The others states are Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, Northern Territory and Western Australia. 24,13 Millions people live in Australia. The climate is tropical and subtropical, the major part of the mainland is desert. This country was discovered for 60000 years ago by searchers. Australia is a member of the British Commonwealth since 1931. On the Australia flag, we can see the Blue Ensign, the British flag on the left corner and six stars (it represent the six states) with seven arms. Australia is famous thanks to its culture capital, Sydney, its culture (music, dance, theater,...) and its fabulous landscapes.
To conclude, I would like to go on Australia ! It is one of my biggest dream ! I find it very beautiful and the landscapes are extraordinary!
We learnt a lot about Australia in class. It is a very large country, which is also a continent with the island of Tasmania. It’s the 6th biggest country in the world and its population is 24.893 million inhabitants. Australia’s Human Development Index is very high (it’s the second highest in the world). Its money is the Australian Dollar. The traffic is a left-hand one. The capital of Australia is Canberra and its largest city is Sydney. Australia is an island discovered in 1770 by Captain Cook, who claimed the Eastern Coast for Britain. The country is divided in six big states : Victoria, Queensland (which were both named like that to honor the Queen of England), Northern Territory, South Australia, New South Wales, Western Australia. Australian Natives are called Aborigines. They have primitive material culture, but complex social system with totemic worship. Australia was used as a penal colony and Aborigines caught diseases from Europeans and suffered a lot from alcoholism. Aborigine art is really important and amazing, like painting – like rock art –, music – like didgeridoo –… The National Parks of Uluru-Kata Tjuta and of Kakadu are protected areas and show Aboriginal art.
I really would like to visit this country, because the fauna and flora are amazing and the landscapes are really beautiful. Australia’s history is really interesting and I would like to learn more about it.
Hello everybody ,I will tell you about the climate of nothern territoy. The Northern Territory has two distinct climatic zones: The northern tip, including the capital Darwin, has a tropical climate with two seasons, wet from November to April and dry from May to October. During the dry season, the weather is warm and sunny. There is very little rainfall between May and September. The coolest months are June and July when the minimum temperature can drop to 14 ° C, but rarely lower; no frost days have ever been recorded there. The wet season is characterized by tropical cyclones and monsoon rains. Most of the precipitation occurs between December and March (during the austral summer), and thunderstorms are common. On average, the north receives 1,570 m of rain per year, including 1 m between January and March. The rest of the country has a desert or semi-arid climate. The southern part of the country, located in central Australia, receives less than 250 mm of rain per year. Goodbye ! Jacinth,1èreES3
Hello everybody, We've learnt a lot of things in class on Australia, and I'm going to talk you about what I know. On the one hand, Australia, which is located between the Pacific and the Indian Oceans, is the biggest island in the world. It is divided in six big states : Western Australia, New South Wales, Northern Territories, Queensland, Victoria and South Australia. The capital of this country is Camberra, but there are others cities more famous than the capital, like Sydney, Perth, or Melbourne. From a political point of view, Australia is part of the 53 British Commonwealth countries and so, it is a federal country. I especially worked on Western Australia. Western Australia is the biggest state of this country. It is devided in 7 different regions : Kimberley, Outback, Pilabra, Coral Coast, Central West, Perth and South West. The main city is Perth. From a Historical point of view, this State was descovered by the Dutch Captain Dirk Hartog, in 1616. Western Australia had seen a lot of different civilisations through the years, like the Abo and Europeans populations so there is a real multiculturalism in this state. Western Australia is also a touristic region, where we can visit a lot of different things like the site of Gyang Gyang for history lovers, or beautiful beaches if we want to rest.
On the other hand, Australia is one on the country I would like to visit the most. For me, is a perfect country for holidays because it regroups a lot of different landscapes. Indeed, those landscapes are really different of what we can see here in France, so I think it would be interesting to see them. In the same way, animals are really typical and I’m curious of what koalas and kangaroos really look like. Is also a good way to improve our English, and to know new cultures. Finally, I really want to see the world-famous Sydney Opera, and The different cities of Australia.
Hi everybody ! We learnt a lot of things about Australia in class. First at all, Australia is a large Island between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. This country was discovered by Captain Cook in 1770. It's the 6th biggest country in the world. Its largest city is Sydney and Canberra is the capital. There are 6 states in this country : New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland , Victoria, Northern Territory and Western Australia. 24 Millions people live in Australia. Australia is a member of the British commonwealth. Its government is determinated by the Australian constitution of 1856. Australia is very famous thanks to its capital, Sydney, its music, dance and a lot of cultural institutions who are very important (ex: the Sydney symphony orchestra is an iconic figure in the world). I would like go on Australia. I like travel and in Australia there are beautiful landscapes. It's a beautiful country. It's one of my dreams to go to this country !
In class we studied the mainland Australian island later me and my classmates we had to make several small presentations thanks to that I learned a lot of things on this continent as: -It is a large island between the Indian Ocean and the South Pacific Ocean -its capital is Camberra however it's not the biggest city it's Sydney -Australia is a member of the British Commonwealth (is an intergovernmental organization composed of 53 Member States which, for the most part, are former territories of the British Empire) it is separated by several territories: New South Wales, South Australia, Western Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland and Victoria.
To conclude Australia is a country with a great history and a wonderful landscape that everyone would like to discover.
Hello everybody, I know that Australia is one of the few countries in the South that has managed to develop as a western country. We can compare Australia to a very large island. Indeed, it is only surrounded by water. We can think that its capital is Sydney but it is Canberra. Australia also has the distinction of being a great desert: the "Australian desert" Australia is one of the countries I would like to visit most. There is plenty to do. You can surf, explore the desert and visit Sydney, which is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. However, you must also be very careful about the many dangers. Every year, many accidents occur because of sharks. The desert is also very dangerous especially because of some animals like snakes for example.
I have never studied Australia in class but I know a few things about that country: -This is the biggest island in the world. Groenland which is the second one, is three times smaller. -Australia is one of the richest country per inhabitants in the world (ranked 5th in the world) -This country was colonised by the United Kingdom during the 18th and 19th centuries, so today's inhabitants are either descending from prisonners who were sent in this Island, or from the natives australians called aboriginees -Australia is also one of the former founders of the United Nations
If I went to Australia, I would like to visit the Sydney's Opera, the Lake Hillier and Ayers Rock. I would also enjoy to discover its unique wildlife
We studied a lot Australia in class. Australia is an island between the Indian Ocean and the Southern Pacific Ocean. With the island of Tasmania to the South, the continent makes up the Commonwealth of Australia. It is divided into six big states : Western Australia, Northern territory, Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales and Queensland.
It is a Federal Parliament state. The capital is Canberra and the largest city is Sydney who is closely followed by Melbourne. Australia is a member of the British Commonwealth with is composed of 53 countries.
Moreover, Australia use to have connections with the United Kingdom because many Australians have their origins in the United Kingdom. More recently, many Australians citizens came from Southern Europe and South Asia.
In addition, Australia was discovered by a British seller and explorer : James Cook. He claimed the Eastern Coast of Australia for the British. The people who lived in Australia at the origins are called Aborigines or by their nickname Abo. They have primitive material culture but complex social system and totemic worship. To end with, I would love to go to Australia, this is one of my biggest dreams. The fact that Australia is a mix of nature, history and divertissement is amazing !
Hello everyone! We learned that the capital of Australia is Canberra and that Australia is divided into six major states: Western Australia, Northern Territory, Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales and Queensland. We also learned that it was discovered by the English explorer James Cook. I would like to visit Australia because it is a beautiful continent with its many beaches and landscapes. To begin, Australia is the larger island in the world. This continent is in Oceania, he is surrounded by the Pacific ocean and the Indian ocean. Australia’s capital is Canberra but the main cities are Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Penth and Adelaïde. More than 75% of the population lives in this major capital cities along the west and the southeast coast. This area represents the best living conditions. The official language is English. The inhabitants are called the Australians. Emu is the national bird of Australia and the kangourou is the national animal We can see in Australia different animal like the koala, platypus, dolphin, bats, crocodiles. The Australian flora is very varied because of the immensity of the country.
Secondly, until the end of the 18th century, Australia was designated as the land of the South that we don’t know : « Terra Australis Incognita ». But Australia has been populated for 50,000 years by the aborigines. Their culture is the oldest in the world. To survive, they practice hunting, fishing and picking. They help themselves with tools made of wood and stone. In honor of their ancestors and to illustrate their daily life, the aborigines leave behind thousands of sites of paintings and traditionals engravings.
Thirdly, it was only in the 17th century that europeans began to travel around Australia. In 1606, the dutch Captain Willem Jonzoon visits the west coast. Over the century, other europeans explorers, including the british William Dampier visit the coast of this mysterious continent called New Holland. It was only in 1770 with the arrival of the famous captain James Cook that will take possession of the continent on behalf of the United Kingdom to begin the era of colanization. Despite the presence of the aborigines, europeans consider Australia as an empty land of man that the new settlers have appropriated without constraints. Of January 26, 1788 is founded the penitentiary colony of New South Wales. 5 more autonomous colonies are donated in the 19th century as the population grows and new territories are explored. January 1, 1901, the 6 colonies federate and form the Commonwealth of Australia ( Western Australia, South Australia, New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania and Victoria)
Finally, the Commonwealth is an intergouvernemental organization composed of 53 members states, some of which are formerles part of the British Empire. So, Australia is constitutional monarchy and a federal democracy whose sovereign is Queen Elisabeth II represented by a governor general Sir Peter Cosgrave.
To conclude I really want to go to Australia to discover ancient cultures and heavenly beaches !

Hey guys ! Today I would like to talk about Australia because while I was working on this subject in class I must say that I discovered some really interesting things about this country. First, Australia was discovered by James cook in 1770, this Island is located between the Indian and the Pacific Ocean. It is the 6th largest country in the world, occupying an entire continent of some 7.6 million square kilometres. It has the world's 3rd largest ocean territory, spanning three oceans and covering around 12 million square kilometres.Today's Australia is very multicultural with Indigenous peoples and migrants from some 200 countries. Also, because I am very protective with the environment I saw that It contains an amazing ecosystem with unique flora and fauna including pristine rainforest, ancient rock formations and beautiful beaches. I was doing a homework which was talking about Australia and more particularly the state of New South Wales. I learnt much things about Australia : _The first inhabitants were the Aborigenes arrived to South Africa 40 000 years ago. They were moving in large territories in a large group, according to the resources and they were living by hunting, picking and fishing. _ Because of diseases (like smallpox) brought by the settlers, the Aboriginal population fell. _ From the end of the XVIIIth century to the 1970s, an assimilation Policy cut several stolen generations of their cultural roots. Also, Aborigenes claimed better living conditions and better working conditions. _ And it’s only in 1992, that the Australian High Court recognized title deeds for Aborigines. _ According to a census in 2011, there would be 670.000 Aborigines in Australia, which represents 3% of the population. I’ve never been in Australia but this is my favorite country. Firstly, it’s a big Island with beautiful beaches, where you can surf, the landscape is amazing with wild lands. Secondly, we can meet some extraordinary and unforgettable animals like kangaroos, koalas, cassowarys, dingos, platypus or wombas… Finly, the climate is very soothing and pleasant. On top of everything, Australia appears as a Young coutry where everything is possible as the american dream. In my opinion, the Australian way of life seems to be a real expérience and enriching and rewarding. So I would like to visit Australia with the hope that I can spend a part of my studies overthere.

ReplyDeleteNow Australia is composed of many territories like VIctoria, who his area is known as the home of many Aboriginal people groups.

Hi everyone!
ReplyDeleteSo, we did a lot of research this last month about a continent which is also a country: Australia.

ReplyDeleteFirst, Australia was discovered by Captain Cook in 1770.
Cassandre M. 1S5
Sorry, I made some mistakes : "its largest" instead of "its larger", "six big states" instead of "six big state", "what I have leart" instead of "what I learn", "he took two third" instead of "he corners two thirds" and "after discovering" instead of "after the discovering".
DeleteHi everyone!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, in 1ere, I have worked on Australia for an oral presentation with some friends, especially on South Australia, its culture, landscapes, and dishes.

I made some mistakes : " important information" and "everybody knowS"
DeleteHello !
ReplyDeleteDuring some days, we have worked on Australia as a contry and as a continent.

ReplyDeleteFirst, Australia is the biggest island.

ReplyDeleteAustralia was colonized by the Dutch and the English settlers during the 18th century.

Hello,
ReplyDeleteWe did an oral, our subject was "South-Australia", that's why I learned a lot of things about this state.
ReplyDeleteIn 1606 was Australia discoverd by Dutch explorers.
ReplyDeleteAustralia has seen many wars for the nation and participated to a lesser extent in the Second World War.

ReplyDeleteAustralia it's a beautiful island.

Hi everyone,
ReplyDeleteThese past few weeks we have been working on Australia which is a huge island between the Indian Ocean and the South Pacific Ocean.

ReplyDeleteBut let’s talk more precisely about Victoria, a state in south-eastern with for capital Melbourne.

Sorry I made some mistakes it is « where » and not « whose » and instead of « the Australian flag » it is « Australian flag »
DeleteHi everyone!
ReplyDeleteI learned that there are differents states in Autralia.
ReplyDeleteBesides, Australia is also called the Commonwealth of Australia, it’s a federal Parliamentary state.
New South Wales : his capital is Sydney, a famous city know by everyone in the world;
Northern Territory : his capital is Darwin
Victoria : his capital is Melbourne
South Australia : his capital is Adelaide
Queensland: It’s a large state situated on the Northeast of Australia, his capital is Brisbane .
ReplyDeleteJames Cook was a British navigator, explorer and cartographer, born November 7, 1728 in Marton and died on February 14, 1779 in Hawaii.
Thanks for reading !

ReplyDeleteDuring these weeks we talked about Australia in class, what it contains, are history and they are these continents.
In the city center is the Casino Royal, the zoo, the museum, the aquarium, the surrounding area, the wharves being transformed into a new business, Southbank and St Kilda, tourist areas but also the City of Arts, the National Gallery of Victoria, Federation Square.Hello to all

Hello
DeleteI made some mistakes : is "Lesson was about the history and Australia" and not "are history and they are these continents".
Australia is a country and an ancient English colony located in oceania and situated in the southern hemisphere.
ReplyDeleteInitialy this island was populated by the aboriginals.

ReplyDeleteWe learnt a lot of things about Australia.

DeleteHi everyone,
ReplyDeleteWe learnt a lot about Australia in class.

ReplyDeleteThe Northern Territory has two distinct climatic zones:
The northern tip, including the capital Darwin, has a tropical climate with two seasons, wet from November to April and dry from May to October.
Goodbye !

Hello everybody,
ReplyDeleteWe've learnt a lot of things in class on Australia, and I'm going to talk you about what I know.

Hello everyone
ReplyDeleteIn class we studied the mainland Australian island later me and my classmates we had to make several small presentations thanks to that I learned a lot of things on this continent as:
-It is a large island between the Indian Ocean and the South Pacific Ocean
-its capital is Camberra however it's not the biggest city it's Sydney
-Australia is a member of the British Commonwealth (is an intergovernmental organization composed of 53 Member States which, for the most part, are former territories of the British Empire)
it is separated by several territories: New South Wales, South Australia, Western Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland and Victoria.
To conclude Australia is a country with a great history and a wonderful landscape that everyone would like to discover.
Hello everybody,
ReplyDeleteI know that Australia is one of the few countries in the South that has managed to develop as a western country. We can compare Australia to a very large island. Indeed, it is only surrounded by water. We can think that its capital is Sydney but it is Canberra. Australia also has the distinction of being a great desert: the "Australian desert"
Australia is one of the countries I would like to visit most. There is plenty to do. You can surf, explore the desert and visit Sydney, which is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. However, you must also be very careful about the many dangers. Every year, many accidents occur because of sharks. The desert is also very dangerous especially because of some animals like snakes for example.
Hello!
ReplyDeleteI have never studied Australia in class but I know a few things about that country:
-This is the biggest island in the world. Groenland which is the second one, is three times smaller.
-Australia is one of the richest country per inhabitants in the world (ranked 5th in the world)
-This country was colonised by the United Kingdom during the 18th and 19th centuries, so today's inhabitants are either descending from prisonners who were sent in this Island, or from the natives australians called aboriginees
-Australia is also one of the former founders of the United Nations
If I went to Australia, I would like to visit the Sydney's Opera, the Lake Hillier and Ayers Rock. I would also enjoy to discover its unique wildlife

ReplyDeleteTo begin, Australia is the larger island in the world.
Emu is the national bird of Australia and the kangourou is the national animal
We can see in Australia different animal like the koala, platypus, dolphin, bats, crocodiles.

Hey guys !
ReplyDeleteToday I would like to talk about Australia because while I was working on this subject in class I must say that I discovered some really interesting things about this country.

Hello everybody !
ReplyDeleteI was doing a homework which was talking about Australia and more particularly the state of New South Wales. I learnt much things about Australia :
_The first inhabitants were the Aborigenes arrived to South Africa 40 000 years ago.
Secondly, we can meet some extraordinary and unforgettable animals like kangaroos, koalas, cassowarys, dingos, platypus or wombas…
Finly, the climate is very soothing and pleasant. On top of everything, Australia appears as a Young coutry where everything is possible as the american dream. In my opinion, the Australian way of life seems to be a real expérience and enriching and rewarding.
So I would like to visit Australia with the hope that I can spend a part of my studies overthere.

Hey everyone!
ReplyDeleteI was working on this subject in class and I have to say that I learnt lot of interesting things about this country.
First, Australia is an island between the Indian Ocean and the Southern Pacific Ocean. With the island of Tasmania to the South, the continent makes up the Commonwealth of Australia. It is divided into six big states : Northern territory, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, New South Wales and Queensland.
Then, Australia was discovered by a British seller and explorer James Cook. The people who lived in Australia at the origins are called Aborigines or by their nickname Abo.
Morover, The capital is Canberra and the largest city is Sydney who is closely followed by Melbourne. Australia is a member of the British Commonwealth with is composed of 53 countries.
In conclusion, I would love to visit Australia, it has always been one of my biggest dreams and I hope that one day I could realize this.
