  1. Hi Hadil!
First of all, Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks were political activists but they used non-violence.
MLK is really famous for his speech named " I have a dream " in 1963. He was a world figure of courage, and he fought against injustice for years during the segregation in the USA. Furthermore, he directed the peaceful march on Washington, D.C., of 250,000 people. Moreover, he was rewarded for what he had done, he was the youngest man to have received the Nobel Peace Prize.
However, he was assassinated in 1968 in Memphis where he was to lead a protest march.
On the other hand, Rosa Parks was also engaged during the segregation.
By refusing to give up her seat to a white man on a Montgomery city bus in 1955, Rosa Parks helped initiate the civil rights movement in the United States. The leaders of the local black community organized a bus boycott that began the day Parks was convicted of violating the segregation laws. Therefore Parks is a symbol of the resistance against white supremacy.
To sum up, MLK and Rosa Parks were both symbols and important activists who fought for the conditions of Blacks in the USA.

  2. Hello everybody!
I just know a few things about their story:
Martin Luther King Jr was an afro-american pastor who fought against segregation and won the Nobel Peace Price in 1964 for his pacifist fight.
Rosa Parks became famous when she refused to let his place to a white man on the bus, and then she was arrested by the police and received a fine. It's there that she called Martin Luther King to defend herself. And it's since this story that MLK had began his fight against segregation but always with non-violence.

  3. Hi everyone!
    First, Rosa Parks:
Rosa Parks was an activist in the Civil Rights Movement, whom the United States Congress called "the first lady of civil rights" and "the mother of the freedom movement".
On December 1, 1955,Rosa Parks refused to obey bus driver James F. Blake's order to give up her seat in the "colored section" to a white passenger, after the whites-only section was filled.
    Second, Martin Luther King Jr:
was an activist who became the most visible leader in the Civil Rights Movement. He is best known for his role in the advancement of civil rights using the tactics of nonviolence and civil disobedience.

  4. Hi everybody,
On the one hand, Rosa parks was an American activist in the civil Rights movement. On December first of 1955 in Montgomery, Alabama, she refused to give up her seat to a white passenger as the bus driver asked her to. She then violated Alabama segregation laws.
She organized and collaborated with civil rights leaders and became then an international icon of resistance to racial segregation.
On the other hand, Martin Luther King was an American civil rights activist. He led the 1955 Montgomery bus boycott and helped to organize the 1963 March on Washington where he delivered his famous speech : « I have a dream ». In 1964, he received the Nobel Peace Prize for combating racial inequality through nonviolent resistance.
Unfortunately he has been assassinated in 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee.
To conclude, they were both American leaders in the civil rights movement who used non-violence to fight racial inequalities.

  5. Hi everyone, I will talk about Rosa Park and Martin Luter King.

First, their commun point is that they were both activist during the racial segregation in the USA and they refused the inequality between white ans black people.

Now, I will tell you an event that made become famous Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King.
Rosa Parks became famous in 1955, december 1st. This day, she was very tired and she sat in a white people place. Indeed, the front of the bus was reserved for white people and black people had to be crowded at the back of the bus. She didn't have the strength to walk to the back of the bus. The bus driver, called James F. Blake asked her to leave her seat and go to the back of the bus but she refused. Four days later, December 5th, she received a penalty $15 and she appealed to the judgment. It was at this moment that Martin Luter King appeared.
Martin Luther King was a 26 years old preacher and he launched a campaign of protest and boycotting the bus interprise which go on 360 day. Nevertheless, he defend the non violance way of protesting and refused to take weapons to protest for exemple.
Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks succeeded beacause November 16th 1956, 1 year later, the Supreme Court remove segregationist laws on the bus and declared it unconstitutional.

Martin Luther King was murdered April 4th 1968 in Memphis but Rosa Parks died later, October 24th 2005 in Detroy. They were two important activist for the destruction of the segregationist society in the USA and they are nowadays 2 symbol of this period.

  6. Hi everyone,
Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King are two main historical figures. They both fought against white supremacy and segregation in the United States.
I read a beautiful book named "La Rose dans le bus jaune" which focuses mainly on that part of History. I think that Rosa Parks, refusing to leave her sit to a white person in a bus, was particularly courageous. She didn't doubt that a huge movement of protestation for the equality of civil rights would follow.
For this reason, we can consider her as a real HERO as much as Martin Luther King, who famously pronounced a speech started by : "I have dream".

  7. Hi everyone,
To begin with, Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King were African Americans who fought for their rights.
In the middle of the 20th century, in Montgomery, Rosa Parks resisted bus segregation. Indeed, when she was asked to vacate her seat on the bus for a white man, she made the decision to take a stand. She became famous for that engaged action but, after the incident on the bus Rosa was continually threatened and harassed. However, she did not give up her efforts towards equality
Then, MLK was a peaceful activist for equality between blacks and whites in the USA. He was a pastor who organized actions such as the bus boycott of Montgomery and pronounced the famous speech “I have a dream” in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington. He was supported by John Fitzgerald Kennedy in his fight against the racial segregation and won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.

  8. Hi everyone!
First of all, I think each and everyone knows and looks up to Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King jr.
Rosa Parks refused to give her seat away to a white passenger in Montgomery, Alabama. She later became a symbol of the Civil Right Movement, and was nicknamed "the mother of the freedom movement".
Martin Luther King junior was a minister who took actions against discrimination during his whole life. Indeed, he was assassinated in 1968. However, despite his early death, he became very well known, and he also won the Peace Nobel Prize. His speech "I have a dream" is one of the most famous speeches ever !

To put it all in a nutshell, Martin Luther King jr and Rosa Parks were more than simply just activists. They were symbols, and are considered as Heroes nowadays !

  9. Hi everyone,
Firstly, Rosa Parks and MLK lived threw a tough period where black people clearly didn’t have the same rights as white people in the United States of America. Indeed, they lived during racial Segregation, a horrible time where black people had to live separately from white people. They were both very involved as activists in the Civil Rights Movement and by doing so they changed history.
Their story began on December the first 1955 when Rosa Parks, an Afro-American women, refused to give her seat on a Montgomery city bus to a white man. She was arrested for it. Then, hearing about this horror, MLK decided to start the famous Montgomery bus boycott which lasted a year and achieved many things. Indeed, on the thirteenth of November 1956, the Supreme Court ruled that bus segregation was unconstitutional. And in mid 1965, all African Americans got the right to vote.
Furthermore, in 1963, King worked with a number of civil rights groups to organize the march on Washington and where he delivered his famous speech “I have a dream...” calling for peace and equality.
I would like to add that they were both recognised for they efforts. Indeed, in 1964 MLK became the youngest person ever awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and Rosa Parks received the Congressional Gold Medal in 1999.
All in all, we can say that they deserved their titles as civil rights heroes.

  10. Hi everyone,
First of all, I would like to put things into context: we are in America in the mid-twentieth century during the period of racial segregation in the United States. Rosa Park like Martin Luther King and all other blacks were excluded, discriminated against and considered inferior to white people. Rosa Park refused to give way to a white man on the bus the December 5th,1955. She will be fined but also will become an emblematic figure in the fight against racial segregation in the United States and the nickname "mother of the civil rights movement". On his side, Martin Luther King, aged only 26 years old, launched a campaign of protest and boycott against the bus company which lasted 380 days. Finally, on November 13,1956, the United States Supreme Court overturned segregationist laws on buses, declaring them unconstitutional. It is the beginning of a fight against racial segregation which ends 11 years later, in 1967, after about one century.

  11. Hi everyone,
First of all, talk about Rosa Parks.
She refused to leave a white man on a bus in a southern US city. She does not know that her gesture will reveal Martin Luther King and above all will lead to the abolition of racial segregation in 1964. Nicknamed "the mother of the civil rights movement" Rosa Parks will die in 1955 but we will never forget what she did!
Now , let's talk about Martin Luther King.
For a dozen years he had fought racial segregation. He made himself known in Montgomery ( Alabama ). August 28, 1963 he delivers his most famous speech to 250.000 supporters "I have a dream" . On October 14, 1964 he receives the Nobel Peace Prize. However four years later, Martin Luther King is murdered in a motel in Memphis on April 4, 1968 by a court of justice. The death of the black pastor raises immense emotion around the world.

  12. Hi everyone,
King suffered from depression throughout much of his life. In his adolescent years, he initially felt resentment against whites due to the "racial humiliation" that he, his family, and his neighbors often had to endure in the segregated South. He fought against that later. He dies assassinated by a white segregationist in Memphis while supporting a garbage strike. He practiced in Montgomery, Alabama. In 1955, he took the lead in the Rosa Parks support movement.
Rosa Parks, was arrested one day, for refusing to give up her seat to a white man on the bus. She was taken off to the city jail. These persons are two personnalities of an important and hard war.

  14. First, in America between 1876 and 1964, there was the social segregation between black and white people based on the Jim Crow Laws. Some of those laws forbade to black people, for exemple, to marry with white people, to seek treatment from white people, to eat with white people in a restaurant or to sit down when they took the bus.
Rosa Parks was an afro-american woman who became a symbol of the fight against social segregation in the USA and personal courage. In this historical context, the following story is essential: in 1955, she didn’t want to leave her seat to a white person on a bus. Then, she was arrested by the police and had to pay a fine of 15 $.
Martin Luther King was an American black pastor. He also is a symbol of the social segregation in the USA. He was a no-violence activist for the civil rights of black people in the USA, he was fighting for peace and against poverty. His most famous speech is « I have a dream ». He made this speech in 1963 in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington during the famous “March for Jobs and Freedom”. He asked people to finish racism in the USA and claimed the same civil rights and economic conditions between black and white people. One year after this speech, the Government decided to give up the system of social segregation and he received the Nobel Prize for Peace the same year. However, he was assassinated in 1968.

The consequences of the struggle of these two people are that they contributed to stop the injustice between black and white people because of racism in the USA. Furthermore, their ideas are still known today. They are symbols for the following generations. Besides, they received a lot of other awards.

  16. Hi everybody,
Rosa Parks and Martin Luther Kings are against the racism. A day from 1955 to Montgomery by going back home after her working day, modest needlewoman Rosa Parks, who had been formed in the nonviolence, refuse to give up one more time her place of bus to a White. Struck, arrested, her trial started four days later and this isolated act, which was not obviously the first one of the kind , sparked things of an enormous movement. During thirteen months, 17 000 blacks inhabitants of the city did not take anymore buses, went to the work on foot or in ride sharing. Rosa Parks's action allowed young minister Martin Luther King Jr to take its place as leader of the Movement of the Civil rights. In 1963, the situation of the city of Birmingham is explosive because the segregation is particulary violent there. Martin Luther King decides however to go there and to defly the ban to demonstrate.

First, let's talk about Rosa Parks. Rosa Parks is a woman very important in the history of her country. She contributed a lot and fought against the segregation of blacks and whites. All start when she took the bus, she refused her place to a white person. With her refusal, a big movement for civils rights laws of black people began.
Martin Luther King is also an activist for the civils rights of black people. He played a major role for the emancipation of Afro -Americans. He wanted to abolished the racists laws in his country. He is known to have defended Rosa Parks and also for his speech "I Have a dream". One year later, he received the Nobel Peace Prize. He is murdered soon after by a white racist.
Since, the things have fortunealty changed, the laws are the same for black and white people. However, the racism is still present, like in the United states where people organise manifestations to stop this.

On the one hand, I would like to talk about Rosa Parks, her actions and theirs consequences.
Rosa Parks was a Afro-Americain woman who became an emblematic figure in the fight against the ethnic segregation in USA.
She became famous, the 1st December 1955. There is 62 years ago, she declined to leave her place in front of the bus to a white man to go at the end of the bus. For this action, she get a fine but she provoked a massive boycott movement against the town's bus compagny.
At the head of the support movement concerning Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, a pastor, who helped Rosa Parks in her combat against the segregation and the discrimination regarding the Afro-Americain. Martin Luther King is from a favorable social background. Since 1955, he fight to the Rosa Parks sides to defend the black cause in USA. In 1963, he is at the head of great campaigns for the civil rights and suffrage for the black peoples but too for the end of segregation and for better education. Apprehended several times, in his speech «I have a dream», he launch a call for a country which all the people will be free, with equal rights in the justice and peace. In 1964, he had the Nobel Peace Prize. Unfortunatelly, he died, 4 years after, killed by a white segregationist.
I just would like to say that all their lifes, they fought for the black cause, but we don't talk enough. I find that it's not enough. We dont' talk enough to the young generation and it's really sad. When we see black and white weedings, we can't have a suspicion that 152 years ago, the black peoples were slaves if we don't talk about that. He raise awareness among us but less and less and I find that really annoying because it's anyway 400 years of our history.

  25. Hi everyone !

At the beginning of the twentieth century, African Americans were living under segregationist laws. The definition of segregation is: “the action or state of setting someone or something apart from others.” This means that African Americans were separated from the rest of the population.
During those days, two African Americans changed the course of history in Alabama and even in all the United States of America: Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King. They both used the bus as a tool to proclaim their rights as human beings and to change the law.
Rosa Parks by refusing to give her seat in a bus to a white person and Martin Luther King by convincing African Americans to not use the bus for 380 days, the supreme court of Alabama decided to delete the segregation law.
They didn’t need to use violence to speak up and change history. Unfortunately, violence came to them : Rosa Parks got arrested and Martin Luther King got killed.
Some people say that equality comes with a price but in my opinion it shouldn’t.
Those two people should and always be called heroes.

Rosa Parks became famous the day she refused to let her sit to a white person, even if she legaly had to.
She had to pay for this and was punished. MLK and she decided to boycot the bus company. Black taxi drivers refused to take black person and the company finaly decided to accept the demand of MLK and Rosa Parks. So they represented a model for black people who decided more and more to refuse the white domination. They clearly understood that it was possible to react.
Today we still talk about them in class because of their actions and nobel qualities.

So, at this period in 1955 Rosa Parks refused to leave her place in a bus to a white passenger. The police gave her a fine of 15 dollars. But she was not agree with it. Moreover Black community and Afro-americans organized a bus boycott. At the same time, martin Luther King a pastor had decided to stand her in her fight against the segregation and racism. They fought together in a pacifist fight for equality and civil rights for Black people. It's the same situation as in the film we saw at the cinema : “Detroit”.

  31. Today I’m going to talk about Rosa Parks and Martin Luther king who were two persons who fought against racism and inequalities in the USA.

First of all Rosa parks was an Afro-American woman who became an image of the fight against segregation at the beginning of the twentieth century.
She became famous when she refused to sit at the back of the bus and didn’t leave her place to a white man because she was tired. Therefor she was arrested by the police and received a fine of 15 dollars.
However Martin Luther king, a 26 years old black pastor, decided to help the case of Rosa Parks. This man became really famous and received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 when he was 39 years old. Sadly he was murdered four years later after getting the unconditional right to vote for all black citizens. I think this was a terrible act because someone was finally changing things and stood up against the society.
To my find there were heroes because they didn’t use violence to change the worlds opinion.

  33. Hi everyone !

On the 20th century, in the USA, black people suffered from segregation, and racism. Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks were two Afro-Americans who fought against these discriminations and for civil rights, in a pacific way.
First, Rosa Parks was born in Alabama in 1913. Since she was a little girl, she suffered from racism, as her school was burnt twice. She became famous when, on the 1st of december 1955, she refused to let a white man take her seat in a bus and didn't obey to the driver. She was juged for public disorder and violation of the local law. The next days, lots of black people reunited to create a boycott against public transports. Rosa Parks soon became a symbol of the civil rights movement.
To continue, Martin Luther King was born in Atlanta in 1929, and was an American pastor. He led the boycott who was created after Rosa Parks' story, but was arrested. He founded the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) and was the president of this organisation which protested against segregation and for civil rights. He became the youngest person to receive the Peace Nobel Prize, for the leading of a pacifist resistance in a way to stop racism. The most famous speech Luther King made was "I have a dream" in Washington, where he militates for civil rights. Martin Luther King was murdered in 1928, someone shot him in the throat.
To conclude, these two emblematic figures of the 20th century where determinant to change the American vision of black people. Now, everyone has the same rights, even if racist people continue to exist.

  34. Hi everyone!
First on all, I would like to talk about Rosa Parks and then about Martin Luther King.
Rosa Parks was an afro-american and she became known in 1955 because she didn’t want to give her seat to a white person in the bus. Then she was arrested by the police and received a fine of 15 dollars.
Her act has changed the history and started the fight against the segregation.
Martin Luther King was an afro-american too and he helped Rosa Parks against the segregation, but he is especially known for his famous « I have a dream ». He said these words during his speech in 1963 in Washington D.C. This speech has the goal of stop the segregation.

  35. Hello ?!

Those two figures fervently fought against a form of power embodied by white supremacy.
They were very courageous to face this segregationist mindset as Black people were constantly marginalised. Indeed in any period of strong domination by a group, confronting supremacy is always a delicate issue.
Moreover, one has to keep in mind that Rosa Parks and Luther King's actions, which are deeply delved into in the blog previous comments, can be truly considered as heroic acts as both of them refused segregation and led and united many people to fight for this honorable cause.
Indeed, they became crucial emblems which have obtained equality, even if, nowadays, there are always exceptions and some people remain racist: we can particularly notice it in the southern states of USA where acts of violence from extremists groups are still occurring. The riot which happened in Charlottesville last august in 2017 exemplified it.

  36. Hello everyone,
Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King are two main historical figures. They both fought against white supremacy and segregation in the United States.
His speech "I have a dream" is one of the most famous speeches ever.
To conclude, we can say that they deserved their titles as civil rights heroes.
