"Ethics and Animals"
"What concrete measures should we, us students, take ?"

To begin with, I didn't watch the video because I had previously seen a report on TV about the mistreatment of animals in factory farms and slaughterhouses and I found it highly shocking and shameful.
So, I would like to share my view because I really feel concerned about this issue.
Indeed, I am a strong advocate of animal rights and I can't understand why people who harm and ill-treat them are not punished more severely by law.
Anyway, we have to think about concrete measures that we should take.
As far as I am concerned, I am trying to eat as much as possible organic food or to buy labelizzed meats and poultries since in this types of livestock, animals can roam freely on small farms and ranches, never from a feedlot.
I know that it can be quite expensive to buy such food products but we can sometimes make an effort so as to improve things.
Furthermore, I agree with the people that suggest to reduce our consumption of meat because on the one hand, it may limit the slaughter of animals and on the other hand doctors say we really need to eat less red and processed meat since it leads to arterial sclerosis, cancer and autoimmune disease.
To conclude, by making every effort to protect animals, we will protect ourselves as well.

  1. I think that animal crualty is awful thing. But I think that there's worse than badly treated animal in slaughterhouses as long as they are eaten. Of course I wish they could suffer less and live freely. I think that animal testing is an awful thing as well: for instance they apply products on baby rabbit's eyelids wich hurt them and kill them because the skin is here at its finest. Even worse: skin cultures on petri dishes could as well being used but number of brands still refuse.
I also hate people that hunt exotic and rare animals just for fun, or those who sell them to make medecines.

  2. Hello everybody !
First of all , I love animals and I can't understand why they are sometimes badly treated . As a young student , I couldn't do many things for them and for there life condition ( like in the slaughterhouses ) . However , I could stop eating animals products and only organic products . One should not forget that French people eats about four times a week meat . If we all reduce our consommation , it would be better . In addition to that , make-up products are tested on animals and that's unacceptable . On one hand , we should boycott make-up because of this awful testing, but on the other hand , I know that for women it would be hard . Perhaps , all the students could try it .

To conclude , there are some solutions and some help that we could give to animals . These were the main examples of what we could do .

  3. Hello !

In the first place, I don't understand why animals are always badly treated in 2016, it must be prohibited !

Like Lena said, as a young student we couldn't do many things for them and for there life condition. Nevertheless we can become vegan to boycott meat's industry but it's the only things that we can do. But if I was famous, I would like to create a special association to defend this cause and try to stop these awful practise.

To sum up, we must show the example for the next generation and try to stop that as fast as we can !

  4. Hello everyone, I think Magali has got a point here. When she says we have to make every effort to protect animals. However she fails to mention wild animals. For example torturing a dog can be punished by a fine but if you mistreat a fox you cannot be punished by law. This is ridiculous because these animals are very similar and have the same level of sensibility. They are living creatures just like us ! Furthermore, we must take into consideration pollution and deforestation caused by the meat Industry. For example multi-national meat groups often throw out animal waste into oceans. This is very dangerous because cow excrements contain nitrates and this kills sealife. To conclude, being only vegetarian is not enough! We must raise awareness around us and start to learn how to be more critical cornering our consumer society!

  5. I agree with everyone and I'm sure if we ask other people about the subject they would say the same. So why these animals are still so badly treated? Some people would say animals can't feel the pain. I don't know what animals can feel but they certainly feel the pain! Some others would say it's normal to eat animals and I completely share their point of view but they don't need to suffer the men's cruelty! To eat meat is not a bad thing, it is part of the natural behavior of a human. However cruelty is not and the government should take more measures against the violence in slaughterhouses and in factory farms. They should send someone to check the animals conditions more often and condemn with a major fine all kind of bad treatments.

  7. To my mind animals conditions are really shocking in some industrial farms and slaughterhouses, and a lot of persons seems to be really outraged. Still, a bunch of people don't do anything to fight against cruelty and savagery. If we really want to change something, I think we should start bying only organic products. Indeed, this may be expensiver but the result will be that we could save and spare thousands of animals. I think that animals are our equals and cannot be regarded as less than us. They have the same right than us to live on this planet.
To an extent, to protect them all, we should at some point stop eating meat and fish, that way we won't keep slaughtering. Furthermore, we don't eat all the animals that are getting killed, we waste a lot of it too, and that is even more disgusting.
According to a study, a human in his life would approximately eat 11 cow, 27 pigs, 30 sheeps, 2400 chickens and 4500 fish. These numbers are horrific and the slaughter must be stoped before it's too late.
