A disturbing video

Hi everyone,
To be honest with you I don't know a lot about the music "of my time".
However today I am going to talk about a song of an américain DJ named Moby called "Are you lost in the world like me" and more precisely about the video.
This video made me feel a little sad and I asked myself : "is that true?", and then I though : "No! He is an artist, it's exagerate".
What do you think about it ? Do you feel concerned ?

Here's the link to the video and an short article about it :

Remember this a discussion, so you can answer to each other.
Have a nice day.

  1. Hello everybody !
I saw the video and like you, I felt sad when I was watching it...
Indeed, in that short music video, people are all using their phone, without enjoying the world and the nature around them. This is a very superficial system where the appearance (especially on social networks) is the most important thing. Unfortunately I think that this is a kind of a real representation of the world nowadays. A real one but also a bad one, and like you said he is an artist so he exagerates to convey his message. Moreover, I think we have to see this video like a warning.
However, to my mind, his message is too pessimistic and we are young so we have to see our world differently to build our futur better.

  2. It's true that this video is sad, it's my feeling too. I totally agree with Eva. When we watch this video we want to react and make sure that the world does not become like this artist shows. It's true that nowadays, people are growing on their phone, especially us, young people. As Eva also said, we must take this video as a kind of warning. Fortunately, we have not arrived at this stage! However, technological progress can not be avoided. This is both a very good development, but it can be perceived as being bad by others.

  3. First of all , I see eye to eye with you Coline . In fact , we can see on this video , people using their electronic devices too much and that's a real issue today . Besides , not only young people use their phones , tablets but the elders use them also .
On one hand , the video is exaggerated because in real life , people are able to live without electronic and they aren't always on their phones , not seeing the world .
However , I usually see these type of people who can't live without their phones even a minute , and that's worrying me . Moreover , as for me , it's difficult not to be on social networks nowadays because that's where all young people are and if you want to communicate , you have to subscribe .
All in all , this video is exaggerated although it's teaching us how the world could be in the future ( because today , it's the beginning of this " electronic society " )

  4. This clip is very similar to Stromae's Carmen clip...As him, Moby delivers messages and he has clearly managed to get his personal message by creating us a feeling of guilt and embarrassment after seeing the video ... It is true, the physical appearance is more important today than before and social networks lock us into a sort of "virtual" life! However, what I don't appreciate is the fact that this kind of artists represents ONLY the negative sides of the actual society: the mentalities have nevertheless evolved because there is less racism and for the new technologies, one can see many positive points also that are part of the progress. Artists are the first to send messages using technologies (it seems to me that this DJ has a Facebook account and expresses thanks to YouTube, Internet) and then after to complain about it ...

  5. Hi everyone,
I felt sad and guilty watching this video.
Indeed, it becomes dramatic to live in such a virtual society although one should not forget that Moby is an artist so, his role is to catch our attention. As he perfectly says, "these systems are failing" even though it is just the beginning of it, as Lena underlined.
We must change our minds or, at least become aware of the negative consequences of an abusive using of those screens which we hide behind. By the way, I see eye to eye with Eve when she says that "the appearance is the most important thing on social networks"especially. This often drives to an exclusion of some people and I think that is the reason why the harassment increases more and more.
Besides, the communication society is based on a permanent objects succession that causes too much waste.
Finally, from a social point of view, I am sure that social networks degrade relationships more than they reinforce them. We are no more interested in other people from the moment we are not directly affected and therefore, this society doesn't give a way to compassion but rather to selfishness.
To sum up, Moby's video seeks to make us feel concerned about the situation of our current society, and in my opinion, it is successful !

  6. Hello !

First of all I would like to say that I Love all Moby's song, especially this one.

To begin with I felt very sad when I was watching this video. Indeed we saw an horrible scene it is when a woman fell down the street and people just took video instead of help this poor woman. Moreover I saw in the video the slogan : " the world is faling " I think that Moby have a good grounds to say that because nowadays people live in a virtual world, people using their phone a lot ( especially us because we are young like Esther said ) and forget the real relationship between two humans.

However this video is exaggerated ( indeed Moby is an artist who must insist to catch the attention ) and we can live without our phones even if it is difficult. In fact we cannot stop everything it is too late but we must reduce the uses of new technology.

To sum up, we must care about this new " electronic society " like Lena said and I thank Moby for this revealer clip.

  7. Hello everybody,
First of all, as you all said this video is exagerated because the artist wants to point out nowadays society using technology too much.
I have mixed feelings : on one hand, it is true that people are always using an electronic device everywhere and it prevents them from enjoying the moment one is living, that is to say you don't take advantage of the persons you are with or the place you are in, and it's really a shame. On the other hand, this technology enabled progress in different fields such as sciences.
Nevertheless, to my mind this video acts like a warning : people have to bear in mind that technology is very useful but must be used with moderation in everydays life, especially for young people who often are addicted to it.

  8. Hi everyone ,
To my mind , this video is the reflect of the reality , of course a little bit exagerate but the major part of the video is true .. I'm feel concerned about this subject because I'm always on my phone so i'm afraid to see that some people live through it ,and I think that this situation in the video can happened to me . However, we can see that people can be humiliated and injured by the others because of "bad" things they've done and people don't realize the consequences of these actions ..
To finish, I would like to say that we should using our phones for useful things and not for this type of entertainment.

  9. Hi everyone.

To begin, I'd like to say that this video highlights how "addicted" we all almost are...

As a matter of fact, we all own mobile devices and use cellphones everyday. On the one hand, it is useful: we can easily stay in contact with our relatives who live far away, or learn new things. But on the other hand, although technology gives us great abilities, I highly doubt that we use it the best we can.

Even worse, it creates invisible barriers between people, and we might not be able to sense someone's sorrow. For instance, the video illustrates how it led to a girl's suicide...

I of course share Emilie's point of view: this video is exagerated but some teenagers did comit suicide because of social media harassment.

To conclude, I would like to add that we should spend more time knowing each other instead of staying in front of our screens.

  10. First of all a agree with the person who said this video looks a lot like the song Carmen by Stromae. Indeed both songs are about the influence of social networks in our lives nowadays. However I believe it is exaggerated. Not everyone spends his time on the phone or computer, we still have a social life and technology shouldn't be seen as something that destroys relationship between people. In fact it allows to keep in touch with the persons we love and who live far away from us. If we use social networks, Internet and the rest it is just because we move with our time! Nevertheless an artist has the right to express his feelings. In this video he chooses to share them through a song und a music video. The musician tries to make us realize what could happen if we are not careful with the technology that we use. But it is important not to forget that some problems that are described in this video all ready happened in real life. The social networks which are not used with the most careful attention can destroy the life of some people.
To conclude, to my mind this video is exaggerated but the artist tries to warn us about the danger technology can hide. However it is not to be taken literally, phones and computers are a great help in our day to day life, it just depends on how we use them.

  11. Hello,
I've watch the video and I agree with Moby, this video highlights how addicted we all almost are in our society. I usually see these type of people who can't live without their phones even a minute , and that's worrying me . In our society, a lot of people live for technologies and are always present to buy the latest phone. I must admit that I'm myself sometimes addicted to my phone.
But on the other hand the video is exaggerated because in real life , people are able to live without technology.
To finish, I think that we should switch off our phones more often to see the real world with our eyes...
