What profession to do later?

At our age, we begin to question about our future after high school, what studies to do, what profession? When you already know what you want to do later, it's quite simple. Nevertheless, when one is in the vagueness, even that one doesn't know what to do later, it becomes more annoying.

  • What studies do you want to do later?
  • What profession would you like to exercise? Why?

  1. I change my mind so many times that I'm not even sure now of what my future job could look like. I always worked hard because my parents told me that it would allow me to do whatever I want. But now I notice that even if I work as hard as I do I don't have all the doors open. A literature "prépa" could be a great idea but it represents two years of intensive work to prepare the competitive exams. I am really interested in cinema and ever since I was a child I have been fascinating by movies. However the cinema's schools are demanding and the best schools only take ten per cents of the candidates. So it is a real challenge! But I also know I won't take only one competitive exam so there might be a chance I pass at least one of them. A prepa is a great possibility for the persons who want to do their best and are ready to work a lot. It leaves time to think about the future and allows to discover new fields which may be interesting.

  2. Hey,

Personaly I know what studies I would do. I would to studied History ( the Middle Ages and the Renaissance in Europe). When I finish my studes, I shall 22 years old and I think I will work in Museums or in Historic search .
To my opinion, i can't do a work without history. It's my passion ever since I was little.

  3. Hello everyone,
First of all, nowadays, the choice of our job is really important because you work around 7 hours a day. Also, life is getting harder and harder. Though the choice is difficult because there are so many jobs you can do, so, you need to know your tastes and abilities very well in order to select the right studies.
To start with, as far as I'm concerned, I would like to undertake medicine studies which last about ten years.
Since four years, I exactly know what I want to do, I want to become an orthodontist. In fact, I did a training at an orthodontist office during one week when I was in "college" and I especially liked this manual work and relationships with patients, children as well as adults.
Furthermore, I attended all the aspects of this professional activity, therefore, I'm able to admit that this job is really interesting.

  4. Hi ,
To begin with , it is very difficult for me to say what I want to do later . Of course I have some ideas and I can see me in the future doing plenty of incredible jobs . I remember when I was in primary school , I wanted to be an archeologist and also a oceanologist but my mind change over the years and now ,I still change my mind , I'm not sure at all .. And sometimes , I thought that I could not found a job that suit me.But I'm sure that I would find a great thing to do later , I am not already discouraged :)

  5. For a long time I didn't know what job I wanted to make but when I arrived at the high school I knew right away that I wanted to go to literary sector and I am very happy of my choice.I always like the history, and I would like to workîg in the job which concerns it so I think that after high school diploma I will go to the university of history for perhaps be a teacher but I'm not sure ( if I am the idea to become a trancher it's because this job seems to correspond to me, and also I would like that more people appreciate this subject) However I am also fascinated by the psychology but I don't think to make it my job

  7. First of all, it is really hard to find a job that you want.
Personally i already know what i'm gonna do in the future i wanna be a surgeon, yes i know this is crazy but i love anatomy and science.
I chose the hardest job in the entire world, you will need to study 12 years after the school, but i'm afraid of being sick of it, to study all the time.
However, right know i'm motivated and i'm not scared.
Many person asks me how i can handle the blood or see a surgery( because i spent my internship in to a hospital).
Some people can handle this and i'm probably one of them.

  8. Hi,

After the bac I would like to study two years either at the UFR STAPS or science po in Aix, after that I would like to pass a competitive exam for being an "sous officier de la gendarmerie" because later the profession I would like to exercise is "Garde Républicain" in the horse regiment.

  9. Hi everyone,
At our age, we start to wonder what will we do after Baccalaureate.
Some people put up with parent's pressure, who worry as much as us.
I really think that it's a personal choice so we don't have to follow what our parents have done. I particularly think of people whose parents are doctor because many of them want to study medicine too.
As for me, I had thought at a time of becoming pediatrician but I am no longer interesting in medicine.
I would rather study in Preparatory Class although it is known to be very hard. I am almost sure that I will not stay in Nice because in Paris, there are so much best classes.
After these two years, I don't have any idea yet of I would like to do.
Regardless, I am far from having finished my studies for sure but it doesn't matter since as a curious person, I love learning new things and improving my knowledge !

  10. A lot of young people doesn't know what they want to do after Highschool and I was very enxious because of this. So I sat at a table and decided to list everything I loved and what I did not like. To my mind the most important is to chose a job that we would like. Otherwise it is hard to be happy. As I am passionate about manual work, I thought about something related to art. Finally one day that I was watching television, a program spoke about a school of design and I said to myself, "This is what I want to do later!". So I hope to be able to go into a preparatory class and then integrate this school.

  11. I think that it's very difficult to choose a job because we are young and it is always the same jobs that are put forward, we must do personal research to discover new jobs not very well known that can please us...
Personally I thought of a lot of very different jobs(notary, veterinarian, stylist, reporter ...)but now the subjects that I like very much are the sciences, and I also appreciate the idea to meet and help different people every day, to avoid routine. I want to study medecine(moreover, I enjoy The organization of the university)
For my future job, I don't know exactly because it depends on the rankings and I know the difficulty of the medical school.

  12. Indeed, we are in an age where we are children but also young adults. We are at the high school. In studies general. Next year it will have to choose our orientation for our future. For me, I have chosen to study medicine with a preparatory school. Its name is Medical Nice. The next year will be hard because there are two difficult tests. The success rode is of 22% alone. But I am going to hang on. Later would like to make orthodontist. I like this job because there is the contact with children. Even if the children don't like or hate the dentist ! I begun to like this business when I have make my internship in third and in the first at a dentist.
To finish I hope to become an orthodontist when I grow up. Furthermore, for the young who haven't idea on our studies superior. I hope who they find because it's very important. Our futur job is very important because this business will be our quotient.

  13. Hi!
This is a question that we are all asked throughout our childhood and the answer is never the same. When I was four, I would say I wanted to be a “princess”, despite the unreality of this answer I think this is also many girls' dream at that age. However, just a couple of years later, I knew exactly what I wanted to become: a surgeon. And, ten years later, I still haven't changed my mind.
For me, it is an interesting career as it is constantly changing dew to new discoveries and treatments. There are so many specialities and illnesses that one can acquire. Not only would it be satisfactory because you get to help people but you also make a difference in their lives. In my opinion, it's a very rewarding job.
Indeed, I would like to study medicine, particularly in England for many reasons:
To begin, they have the best medicine universities in the world.
Furthermore, I would like to travel and not stay in one country and the French diploma does not allow that.
Last but not least, the course ,that British universities offer, sounds more interesting than the French one where at the end of the year you have to pass the horrible PACES test to continue studying medicine.

  14. Hello !

To begin with, nowadays studies are very important for our future to live in good condition because even if we work as hard as we do, we don't have all the doors open.

As for me I would like to do long studies but I don't know exactly, maybe Science-po or a business school to have lots of opportunies to go out and discover other countries. Concerning my future job I don't really know but I have the time to find THE job that suits me. Moreover it is very important to find a profession that you love because if you find that boring your life will be "monotonous".

To conclude, like everybody said, this question is very difficult to answers because we change and evolve a lot so our mind is blurry.

To begin with , I don't really know which studies I will do . There are plenty of profession and it's hard to choose . Moreover , in my family , we are doctors or lawyers which are , as for me , very boring professions . That's why I have no idea yet and sometimes it worries me because i wonder why I'm not clever enough to think about my future .
On the other hand , audiovisual's professions interests me . Maybe I can be a producer or an actor but I should think about it .
And what about you ? Have you got an idea ?

I've often been lazy about work, but now I realize how important it is for our future job and what we do now will determine what we will do later. I am very ambitious and I have several trades in mind. I love fashion and I will dream to work later for a big brand, or become an international lawyer or go back to the IPAG business school in order to target a big post for later.

  22. For my part, I first wanted to become a veterinarian, because I love animals, but a work experience thanks to the training course in college made me realize that it’s not really right for me.
In fact, an essential part of this job consists in sailing food or care products for dogs and cats, or have them neutered. And furthermore, for my part, I can’t support to frighten animals during the nursing. So, this concrete experience was very useful for my future orientation.
Then, I thought about my key points, which are scientific subjects and their application.
Besides, I am fascinated by mathematics and physics, and all the practical developments of these sciences in improvement of the humanity.
So, I would like to follow education in preparatory classes next year, to postulate then for engineer's high school. This program is very opened and offers many possibilities of careers, as well as assured outlets from the end of the school.

First of all, if we want to be able to do whatever we want in our life, we have to work hard in school. Personally I would like to enter Luminy in Marseille to study Architecture. That's what I really want to do in life and I've known that for years! I also know that it's going to be hard, architecture studies are hard and long.
For the diploma I would like to get with the specialties I would like to acquire it takes at least 7 years of studies!

  25. Hello!
I really like children and teaching, even if it is hard, I think a good teacher makes a good pupil, all the good teachers I had in my life encouraged me to be the person I am know. That is why I would like to teach.
Actually, all my life I had awesome English teacher who helped me realising great things, actually, before I went to highschool I never thought I will ever be able to speak in front of a class (or sing ☺), because english classes are not just a class were you learn to speak english but also a class were you learn about a culture, about people from other countries's lifestyle, you learn to express what you are feelling, your opinion and also you learn respect, and open minding.
That is why, I decided as a "thank you" prensent for all my english teachers and also to my parents that gave me the chance to live in the beautiful country that France is and who made me learn the Molière's language, to become an English Teacher in Frnace, to, later, teach french to students from english speacking country to teach them my language, my culture and also to give them the wonderfull teaching I had.
To accomplish that, I will first go to the litterature prep school in Bordeaux, and then enter in the Bordeaux university to learn english and finish my licence, then I will close my study in Montréal to have my master and become a good english teacher.

  27. It was very difficult to find my way. Indeed, deciding on future studies is a very complex matter. In the beginning, no study and and profession corresponded to me, I didn't know where to go. Then, it was only fairly late that I became interested in speech therapy. I checked on the internet and with people having started in this way and I liked it very much ! To the holidays of halloween I decided to go a few afternoons of trainning with speech therapists. I like contact with people and more individuality with children, I like studies focused on French, psychology and science. These days of observations have confirmed my choice of career. Today, I’m certain of my future life. Now, it only have to work on my entrance competition or consider a year of prepa next year because the selection of entry is very difficult.

  28. Hi,
The next year I'd like going to England one year to learn to speak well English, te become bilingual. Because the year after, I'd like go to the sporting faculty (STAPS), make a Bachelor's degree in sports management then make a Master's degree in management international to work in the sports special event management.
I'd like to make that because I love sport, but I don't want to work in the coaching because I want a real job. To become coach I can with other degrees that I can have after my studies.
The special event management interests me because work behind the scenes events it's the more important in the events for me : I see that nobody can see.
The show always Can see but not behind the scenes.
So I rest in the sport world but I've a real job rather interesting.

  29. Hello! I think this year is the one who I think for me is the most complicated... Indeed, It was very difficult to find my way. I find that it's still too early so that I'm going into the world of the work! I'm totally lost and I'm afraid because registration form are in even not one month! In brief I hope in the meantime that I would have found my way... It is so much complicated to say to himself that we are going to exercise for years the same job and thus as it's necessary not to make a mistake on our orientation... Well on us let us can always change if ever we do not like certain domain but I would prefer to find my sector of a sudden! On those I pray for finding a job which really corresponds to me and especially which pleases me.

  30. What profession will you do in the futur?
    That is a great question.
For long time I said "I don't know" and my parents said " you are quite young you have time but you must find before the A-level and if you know what you don't want to do it's already good". My parents already asked me "what work will you do?"
First when I was thirteen years old I answered that I will study at Science Po but my parents said "to do what?" and they continued to saying "it's good to know what study but you must know before what profession you will do?" Then at the age of sixteen I was fond of biologie and I wanted to be a doctor. Next I went to several "salon de l'étudiant" I took some information about medicals preparatories schools thanks to these information my goal grow up. Thirdly last February I went to a meeting of Massena preparatory school and I changed completly my idee, now I will be an Ingenieur.
I would like to conclude by saying it's very hard for children to know what profession they want to do in the futur because they are alone to find their work, the other can't choose for the children.

  31. Hello everybody, to make a choice for my future is very complicated. I hesitate between two choices of orientations, to go to FACULTY of medicine or then to make a business school. I reflected a lot about this choice with regard to the situation that could offer me these various jobs. The studies of medicines are really very long and difficult and for me not to arrive shall be a failure there. That's why I also think of the studies of businesses which are more accessible according to the school and the chosen sector, and of more the domain of the business always attracted me that's why it's a difficult choice for me. Finally there is also a question to know if I want to study abroad or not, but me does not feel me ready to leave only abroad or we speak another language. But my parents encourage me to make this choice. I have the holidays to think about it and make a decision before the opening of APB in January.
I hope that in what concerns you you found your way.
Thank you has all and see you soon!

  32. I changed a lot in term of what I want to do later. Indeed, when I was young I wanted to become a vet, but after an internship I understood that this job wasn’t for me. Then I wanted to become a surgeon and later a writer. I decided to go into S because I knew that this section wouldn’t close me any doors.
Now I am sure that I want to choose a profession related to business and trade and I am considering to become product manager for a luxury brand. A part of me is very creative and I also like to manage. I believe that being in an Abibac section gives me an advantage and I would like to study in Germany. A part of my family lives in Germany and to make it short I find this country brilliant!
I would also like to talk about the different possibilities for studying. Indeed, most of the people are saying that prepas provide the best job perspectives. I do not completely agree with this opinion. Indeed if you look at the people who choose prepas you will see that they are all working very hard, because they know that they are taken on file. On the contrary students who choose to go to the university for example are not always motivated to work hard. However, there are some students who are determined and who want to succeed. Indeed, when following their career you will find that they generally do very well, probably as well as those that have chosen the classical prepas cursus. The difference of success of students between prepas and university can therefore be explained by the difference of motivation between the students in the two categories.

  37. Before I reached high school, I was lost in the choices of my graduate studies.. I notice that I have more faculties in spanish since my years of college because, my mother being of Chilean origin sometimes helps me in Spanish. I did not learn the Spanish language being small, because the former kindergarten teachers told my mother that it brings problems to the child later to speak normally like other children. I find it stupid from them, certainly it takes time perhaps to speak two languages at the same time but at least later one becomes bilingual and it helps a lot for the future if I want to go abroad ... So I don't speak great Spanish but I understand better than English, I'm sorry for you teacher... What study do I want to do later?

Later I would like to try a Spanish letter school in order to improve this language, in my third year of university I could travel with erasmus, it is by traveling in the country that we learn better, that facilitates faster with the people who surround usand communicate with us to help us... For now it's just a project, because the culture of my mother interests me the most at the moment. I thought maybe I would make Spanish teacher because, I think later I will build a family and I would have children who will have the same vacation as me, It will be useful because I would have time to take care of them. I just hope not to have unpleasant pupils because, I know that it is not easy to manage social cases... It is just a first idea after I would see well in the years to come.

Since I was very young I have the dream to do something with my gift wich is drawing. I found an art school in Paris wich is called "Les Gobelins" it has an international reputation and it is ment for hard working and talented people. The competitive exam for entering this school is really hard and selective. I probably will do a year of preparation because I don't have enought time to prepare this exam and the high school diplom at the same time.
The point is to do some job in animation or in vidéo games, perhaps graphism.

I'm trully motivated and enthusiastic about this project. It means alot to me and I hope everything will be just fine.
